Chapter 16 Inquiry

"It's just a trivial matter, and some simple misunderstandings may have happened. This is a common thing. We have been delaying a lot of time here. Mr. Baron, we are preparing for you in Cairo." Colonel Hunter really didn't want to make any trouble at this critical moment. He tried to dissuade Ryerson from paying attention to such idiots.

"Col. Hunter!" Sir Fay interrupted the colonel loudly, and then he looked at Ryerson with a smile on his face: "Since the Baron wants to understand the situation, then you clearly make it clear that we have nothing to hide from our friends."

"Thank you very much, Sir Fay. Actually, I have no other intentions. I just overheard the major saying that the matter involved our German officers, so I suddenly felt a little curious." Ryerson nodded slightly to thank Fay.

"This is not a place to talk. We can go to the lounge at the airport. The sun here makes me feel a headache. I need to find a cool place to drink something to quench my thirst." After Fay said that, he made an invitation gesture.

"You may not believe it, Lord Jazz, I just drank three cups of coffee on the plane, but I stood here for a few minutes and felt a little thirsty again." Ryerson smiled brightly, and his tone showed a sincere expression.

"The politicians all over the world are the same, all of them are hypocritical guys." Looking at the scene of Ying-Germany, Colonel Hunter secretly complained to himself.

Then the colonel turned around and glared fiercely at Whitewood waiting on the side. He really hated this Air Force Major with a elm-headed one now. If it weren't for the uncoordinated military branches of both sides, Colonel Hunter would really want to find an opportunity to educate the other party well.

So the group turned around and walked towards a row of barracks beside the airport.

The British have always had a good construction technology. Not to mention the style of the barracks, they use a solid brick and wood structure. The roof is covered with black tiles commonly used in the UK and the exterior wall is painted with beige paint. It seems that this house is a bit old. It is obvious that when the British army established this base, they were planning to stay here for a long time.

Under the guidance of a base service officer, Fay and Ryerson and his group arrived at the lounge where they used to serve the pilots. Of course, the room had been emptied in advance. When Fay walked into the lounge, there was no ghost inside.

"Please those two German officials, by the way, don't forget the other two passengers on the plane." Sitting in the chair, Sir Fay ordered Whitewood.

"As for your order, yourselves." Whitewood saluted a brisk military salute, turned around and ran out of the lounge.

"We have coffee, tea, and iced soda." Sir Fay said to Ryerson.

"Please give me a glass of soda, thank you." The German envoy took off his hat and put it on an empty chair next to him with his briefcase.

"Where is Mr. Schulz?" Fay looked at the envoy's assistant.

"Thank you, I want to cool soda, Mr. Jazz." Schulz nodded and thanked.

"Please give me a pot of tea, my stomach feels a little uncomfortable." Colonel Hunter found a chair and sat down.

Everything was ready, and the orderly immediately served the drink.

"Fanda? I didn't expect to drink it here." Ryerson picked up the soda bottle and said in surprise.

"This drink is very popular here in Egypt, and our officers and soldiers also like to drink this refreshing drink," said Fay.

"They like to add whiskey inside, and the appearance color has not changed at all, so it is not easy for the officers on duty to notice it." Colonel Hunter's face finally showed a smile.

"The Luftwaffe also likes to drink this now, but unlike you, they like to add brandy to it." Ryerson nodded and said.

"To be precise, they are going to the brandy to get Fanda." Schulz added with a smile.

This is not just a joke. At that time, the air forces of various countries had relatively relaxed management of pilots and did not prohibit them from drinking after the mission was completed. Especially after a bloody and cruel air battle, nothing can soothe their tired body and mind, making them forget the grief after losing their comrades.

Many front-line pilots have more or less alcohol problems, but as long as it does not affect the mission and physical health of the next day, the commanders of the flight team generally choose to open their eyes and close their eyes.

Several big men enjoyed the delicious drink under the blowing of the ceiling fan, waiting for Whitewood to bring several parties here. The Major of the Royal Air Force was a little decisive and in a short while, he took a few people into the lounge.

After entering the house, the two German officials first glanced at the people present, then hit the heels of their boots and raised their arms at the same time.

"German Army Captain Binz Horn, Second Lieutenant Carruz Krieger." The two officers introduced themselves.

Ryerson immediately stood up and raised his arms to return the favor. In fact, with the baron's official title, he could completely sit on a chair and return the favor, but in front of the British, he had to be more rigorous.

"This is Baron Heinrich von Ryerson, the German diplomatic envoy." Seeing the doubts in the eyes of the German official, Sir Fay introduced it.

"It's an honor to see you, Lord Baron." Horn saluted the Baron with an army salute, and the Baron nodded slightly in response.

"This is Sir Fay, the British Cabinet's plenipotentiary, and Colonel Hunter, the commander of the Cairo Garrison." The Baron introduced to the two compatriots.

"Hisser Jazz, Colonel." The two officers hit their boots again and nodded to the two British people.

"Okay, gentlemen, please sit down." Fay waved his hand and signaled the two to sit down.

"Didn't you say there are two passengers?" Hunter looked up at Whitewood.

"The two passengers were decent ladies, and they had nothing to do with this matter. We just took them on the way." Horn rushed to answer.

"They are resting in the next room. Do I need me to bring them here?" Whitewood asked.

"No need, Major, I think Captain Horn and Lieutenant Krieger, right? They should be able to answer all the questions." Fey waved his hand and then looked at the two German officers.

"As long as we know it." Horn nodded in agreement.

"Okay, before that, can anyone tell me in detail what happened?" Baron Ryerson raised his hand.

"You still don't know what's wrong?" Fay turned his face suddenly and looked at the Baron.

Hunter on the side grew up with his mouth in surprise. Ryerson could see clearly the back grooves with cavities in the colonel's mouth.

"I've been waiting for the colonel to give me a detailed explanation." Ryerson spread his hands and said that he was innocent.

"Major, you are the person in charge of the scene. Come and report the incident to the Baron." Hunter found that the problem was still here after a round of twists and turned around, so he hurriedly threw the pot into Whitewood's arms.

"This is the thing. This afternoon I received an order and then at 2:15 pm I heard the Honourable Report and I told Colonel Hunter that it was a wonderful landing. Then Captain Horn was basically like this." Major Whitewood seriously told everyone about his experience.

"Col. Hunter, is there any errors or omissions in Major Whitewood's report?" Fay turned to ask Hunter.

"No, that's all I know." Hunter replied.

"Very well, I understand everything, thank you very much, Major Whitewood." Ryerson said to the Major.

"You're welcome, this is my duty, Mr. Baron. In addition, I have a few questions to ask this pilot." The Major responded modestly.

"You can ask whatever you want. I believe that Lieutenant Krieg will not hide anything." Ryerson said to Krieg.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Baron. I would like to ask Lieutenant Krieg, can you tell me where you got this Royal Air Force transport aircraft, which base did you set out from, and where was your original destination?" asked Colonel Hunter.

"Sorry, I don't understand what you mean? Major, aren't this all arranged by you?" Krieg said in surprise.

"We arranged it? But I didn't find out the flight plan for this plane at all. Which base did you take off from?"

"The British Air Force Base in Zibirit, where the British Air Force arranged this hell plane for us."

"Wait a minute, are you saying that this Xunlong was arranged for you by the Chibirit base?"

"Of course, I also signed the ground preparation record of this plane. If you don't believe it, you can send someone there to check it out." Krieg answered with confidence.

"Where are you going?"

"It's here, we were going to come to Cairo."

"Why did Zibirit forget to inform the Cairo base because this flight was temporarily added?" Sir Fay interjected and asked Whitewood.

"The possibility of this is very small. You, unless the on-duty staff there are drunk, if it is a temporary flight plan, the on-duty staff must notify the airport by phone or radio. The plane will be allowed to take off after obtaining confirmation from here." The Major of the Royal Air Force replied affirmatively.

"If our two German friends were telling the truth, then the problem must be with the Chibirit base." Sir Fay concluded.

"Captain Horn, it seems that this is just a misunderstanding. Do you have anything else to add?" Baron Ryerson said to Horn with a smile.

"Maybe what happened at the Cairo base was indeed a misunderstanding, Lord Baron, but what I want to talk about now is another problem." Horn stood up, walked to the middle of the room, stood in front of everyone and raised his chest.

"I want to accuse British officers of deliberately sabotaging the plane and trying to murder the German Wehrmacht officers." Horn said loudly.

"Wait, Captain, what are you talking nonsense?"

"Be careful, you must be responsible for your own words, Captain." The British exclaimed at the same time.

"Do you know what this allegation means? Do you have solid evidence? Who do you think you are? You think" Colonel Hunter stood up and threatened.

"No matter who he was before, he is mine now."

A voice suddenly sounded at the door, interrupting Colonel Hunter's words. Hunter turned his head angrily to see who dared to speak so arrogantly.

"I'm very happy to meet you here. Let me introduce myself with you. My name is Carl Randolph. As you can see, it's a German SS Lieutenant Colonel." Randolph bumped into his boot and raised his right arm.

"Hi! Reinhart!"
