192 new elements

"You're kidding, man.$().(w)(x).()" Tony's depression relaxed a little, and he sat up from the ground and shook his head. "I've tried all kinds of substances, all possible combinations, all elements."

Although he did not see his efforts with his own eyes, the deep disappointment in his tone could guess how many times Tony had organized the experiment and how many times he was knocked down by the pain of failure, which finally made him accept his helpless reality.

But Eric did not retreat. He stared at Tony's eyes, and his gray-blue pupils reflected crystal lights.

"Then let's have some fresh and exciting things, don't tell me Howard educates you as a good baby who only walks with others."

His words immediately made Tony's face thrust.

"You seem to know him in this tone." Tony said angrily. He was most reluctant to be compared with his father's name.

It is extremely difficult to have a genius willing to surrender to another genius, even if it is a close relative, let alone Stark, a father and son with a proud and somewhat knotty personality.

Not long ago, he was suppressed by Justin Hammer in the hearing with his dad's name, and now he doesn't want to hear anyone mentioning his father's story.

Although he felt uncomfortable, these dissatisfactions added some motivation to him. Tony cheered up again, quit the armor mode, and directed the artificial intelligence steward Jarvis to start moving out the instruments he had used to reassemble them.

Now the game room is in chaos, and all kinds of tables and chairs are pushed out by shock waves, so there is no need to work hard to clear the scene.

"Do you really think this is possible?" Tony used to make subtle adjustments, while habitually sarcasticizing Eric. "Just relying on these simple metal tubes and some worn-out wrenches?"

"What do you want to bring me to the Large Hadron Collider from Geneva?" Eric was also operating. He had learned a lot in another space. The talent of the mutant allowed him to do things that ordinary scientists could not do. "Instead of getting closer to death step by step in complaining, it is better to do something to save your life--Mr. Stark's last pair of underwear was almost falling off his waist, and he also wanted to try his best to keep the hat on his head from being blown away by the wind. Is this funny image the true side of Iron Man?"

"Of course not." Tony denied Eric's sarcasm.

"Then let it go. I want you to give up your past experience and devote yourself to new ideas." Eric said as he knocked on the docked instrument. With the crisp sound of metal, this extremely simple small accelerator was finally completed.

The first particle accelerator, called a cyclotron, has a diameter of only twelve centimeters - small enough to be lifted by hand. To build such a machine, an electron beam tube was needed to bend charged particles, and a radio frequency oscillator or RF resonance cavity was used to accelerate particles. What they were going to do now is certainly not the original model. However, with the help of Eric, those preparations became much simpler, and two beams of light were quickly emitted in his powerful magnetic field.

"Will it succeed?" Tony asked nervously as he watched the two lights collided. He was a top inventor, but at this moment he placed more hope on luck.

"Try it." Eric replied in a simple way.

Speaking of which, the method of making new elements is very simple. First, you have to carefully select two elements. The sum of the atoms must be equivalent to the number of atoms of the new element. Then put them into the accelerator. Let electrons, protons and other subatomic particles accelerate and impact at a very high speed. Some of the particles will stick together and produce a new element with a new atomic number.

For atoms with low atomic numbers, nuclear reactions occur through impact, and there is a high chance of generating additional elements.

However, for atoms with a high atomic number, due to the increase in the number of protons in the nucleus, the huge Coulomb repulsion must be overcome when a nuclear reaction occurs through impact, so it is difficult to combine and generate new elements with higher atomic numbers. This is also the reason why it is so difficult to discover a new element or physics in the history of chemistry that does not exist on the earth.

Now Eric and Tony have to challenge this difficult task with their talents and brainpower.

"Boom!" A dazzling white light flashed, and the high voltage caused a circuit board to burn down, and a pungent smell immediately emerged.

"Damn it!" Tony dropped his goggles and cursed fiercely.

"Swap that board, it's better." Eric was unmoved.

Then they set out again, verifying Tony's idea again and again despite a series of failures. As time went by, his draft booklet turned page by page, and the rest became thinner and thinner.

"No, this doesn't work." After another failure, Tony yelled with sweat on his head. The failure made him feel more and more anxious, his face was white and black and covered with oil paint. "The electricity needs to be strengthened, and the energy now is not enough."

Geneva's superconducting collider is four kilometers long and requires ten to fifteen megawatts of electricity. This is the sum of electricity used by 10,000 to 15,000 households. Although this point in front of you is small, in order to achieve the best effect, the electricity consumed is not proportionally reduced as much as the size.

"It would be great if Otto was here, I could borrow his artificial sun." Eric pondered, Tony was reluctant.

"Hey, you said Doctor Octopus in front of Iron Man? This is ridiculous!" The dude picked up the wrench and smashed the metal tube hard. In the painful scream of the instrument, he picked up his Ark reactor---using the core of Iron Man to save Iron Man's life, which is just right.

After the power supply is connected, the accelerator restarts. When the two beams of particles are touching each other, Eric's beam-receiving magnetic field causes all particle beams to move in one direction, thereby achieving better results.

Time passed by minute by minute. Although the powerful radiation was blocked by Eric, the temperature of the room was still rising. Tony's sweat was flowing more and more, but the decent discovery never appeared. Finally, after a flash of flash, the accelerator stopped running--the instrument overheated, and in order to avoid an accident, Eric had to pause it.

Losing the strong light, the room was occupied by the dark tide again. When the last ray of light in Tony's eyes faded, he became cold all over. It seemed as if he was soaked in the poisonous water of despair again and could not get relief. Contrary to his frozen body, his heart was burning by a ball of flames. All kinds of strong emotions intertwined almost made his chest explode. After enduring for a while, Tony suddenly couldn't control himself and jumped up and kicked the instrument crazy.

"I knew! I knew!" Tony's eyes were red, and his usual demeanor disappeared. "How could a new element be created so simply? Even if it appears, it will decay and disappear, and we can't keep it!"

He cursed incoherently, and was hit again as soon as he cheered up. This time Tony was injured even deeper than before.

Amid the scolding and kicking, another voice rang out in the dark.

"Rest for thirty minutes and start over."

Eric's voice had a metallic smell, cold and hard without any emotional ups and downs, just in a wonderful inverse proportion to Tony.

"No, without experimenting with Eric, I will not listen to you again. Everything is over. I will enjoy the rest of my life. I will not waste my life again." Tony's voice became louder and louder. In the end, he roared out with all his strength. "Listen, I've had enough of you! Why do I want to listen to you? This is my life, I don't care about it anymore. Why do you discipline me? I'm not your student!"

"Then you can die now. Anyway, you have enjoyed your life, you have no regrets anymore, right? I can help you!" Eric yelled back in a louder voice.

Then he waved his hand. Tony was rolled up by a long steel pipe and was about to throw it away from the glass-free floor-to-ceiling window.

"Ah!" Tony shouted, hugging the slender window frame tightly.

"Do you want to kill me? You crazy!" Steel Pipe returned to its original position, Tony crawled back to the room in a hurry, lay on the ground and accused him angrily.

No one answered, and Eric looked around, and the metal parts that were kicked and smashed were floating up and connected one by one from the ground.

Tony looked at his movements. In the faint morning light of dawn, Eric's appearance gradually overlapped with another figure, as cold and tough as a mechanical one, running accurately.

"Do you know my father?" Tony asked, and before Eric could answer, he continued. "He was cold and calculating, and never said he loved me or liked me. He just arranged my future and told me to follow the steps...but I was never willing."

Eric was silent for a while. It was the darkest moment before dawn. The cold wind whistled into the room, and it was as quiet as a grave.

"I can understand, Tony." Eric's eyes crossed Tony's body, as if he could see the world he had long said goodbye. "I also have a father like this... but this is not a reason to give up on myself."

He said slowly, as if this sentence took a lot of effort.

"Maybe they are right, but we are our masters. We should control our own destiny, regardless of whether we fall to the ground and die."

"Okay, then try again."

Tony sighed and stood up again, this time they did everything to the best they could.

Two beams of luminous particle were shot out again, forming a third beam. Under the action of the magnetic field, this beam of light was introduced into the brand new Ark reactor. With a roar, the exterior wall of the studio collapsed completely. As a result of dust and smoke, Tony was surprised to see a stable triangular new element sample was born.

"What are you doing?" A female voice rang out from outside, and the hangover Pepper was awakened and walked in from outside the room.

She was greeted by the ecstatic Tony. Tony picked her up and turned around several times before announcing that he had finally escaped from the claws of death.

"So, you kept it from me from beginning to end?" Although Pepper had guessed the reason, he was still very annoyed when he heard Tony talk about it.

"I know it's my fault. Every time I have trouble, you will help me. I don't want to make you sad." Tony explained vigorously, and then changed the subject. "Thanks to Eric...here, Eric?"
