Chapter 12 Simple Auditions
Keanu Reeves took Lit's business card away. After a night of careful consideration, he decided to see the movie plan that Lit said with an investment budget of $70 million.
He first called Lite, and then came to San Gabriel according to the address provided by the other party.
"Does Mr. Ritter-Lee live here?"
Andy, who came to open the door, looked up and down Keanu Reeves, who was half a head taller, and then turned his head into the room.
"Come in, he lives here."
Keanu Reeves followed Andy into the house. Out of courtesy, he was about to take off his sunglasses and walked out of the kitchen with a pot of just-made coffee, and hurriedly called him.
"No, Keanu, just bring your sunglasses!"
Keanu Reeves showed a surprised expression on his face.
"Why?"
While pouring coffee into four cups, Lite said, "Has your agent not told you that appropriately using some props related to the plot during the audition session will greatly increase your success rate in this role?"
“Audio?”
"Yes, it's just an audition!" Litt stuffed one of the coffees into Keanu Reeves's hand, then lowered his voice and said, "There are two directors in this movie, one of which you've seen just now."
"Liter, you're cheating!" Andy shouted in dissatisfaction.
Lit ignored Andy's protest and turned around and asked, "How long will it take for Larry to come back?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of the key inserting into the door lock came from outside the door.
"Very good, he's here."
Lite put down the coffee in his hand, turned back to his room excitedly, brought a black windbreaker he had made from there, and handed it to Keanu Reeves.
“Put this on.”
At this time, Larry pushed the door and walked in. He first glanced at Keanu Reeves, who was at a loss in the living room, and then his eyes fell on Lit who was trying to persuade Keanu to put on a windbreaker.
"Have he agreed to let you be his agent?"
"Yes!"
"No!"
The two completely different answers came from Litt and Keanu Reeves, and Larry was confused.
"Who should I listen to?"
"Of course I listen to me." Lite snatched the conversation without hesitation. "Keanu and I have not officially agreed, but since he is here today, it means that he has actually made a decision in his heart."
Keanu Reeves glared at Lit fiercely, "Can I talk to you alone?"
"certainly."
Lit made a look of restlessness towards Larry and Andy, and then led Keanu Reeves into the kitchen.
"What the hell is going on? I didn't promise to let you be my agent!"
"What do you think in your heart?" Lite picked up the coffee and took a sip. "Do you know why people like to make decisions by tossing coins when they encounter dilemmas? Because when the coin is thrown out, the result you most hope for is the answer. Are you doing the same thing now? When you come to the appointment, it means that you hope to get this opportunity in your heart. I'm not wrong with this?"
Keanu Reeves lowered his head and didn't say anything.
"Believe me, it won't disappoint you!"
Lit patted Keanu Reeves on the shoulder and left the kitchen with coffee.
In the living room, the Wachowski brothers were exchanging opinions on whether Keanu Reeves was the leading actor in the Matrix.
Li Te walked in, sat down on the sofa opposite, and asked with his legs raised, "What do you think of him?"
Andy didn't answer Lit's question, but asked him another thing.
“The idea of sunglasses and black trench coat is great, how did you come up with it?”
"These two things can enhance the mystery of the characters, and the most important thing is that I think this combination is cool!"
"Are you sure you can handle him?" The question was Larry this time.
"Actually, I should be asking you this." Li Te sat upright, put the coffee aside, and asked with a serious expression: "How sure are you of your script? If this script is attractive enough, then I will have no problem."
Larry spread his hands, "Then it's OK, unless he doesn't know the goods."
Andy nodded as well, agreeing.
Lit looked up and looked at Keanu Reeves who had come out of the kitchen at some point, "Have you thought about it now?"
"Can I read the script first?"
"Of course, you have plenty of time to do this today." Lite picked up a folder filled with strange illustrations on the round-side table, got up and handed it to Keanu Reeves. "The content will be a bit complicated. If you don't understand it, you can ask these two people around you at any time. I think they will be very happy to answer these questions."
Keanu Reeves took the script and sat on the sofa and started to watch it seriously.
The Wachowski brothers gave Lit a wink, and then the three of them left the living room together and walked to the balcony next door.
"I started to observe when I entered the door. Even without the extra points from sunglasses and windbreaker, I think he can still play the leading role in the film." Andy first expressed his opinion.
Larry was silent for a moment, then looked at Lit without saying a word.
"You are worried about his lack of box office appeal now, aren't you?" Lite shrugged, "You can rest assured, because I have carefully studied several movies that failed in box office before. The problem is not in the performance. In other words, he has never encountered good script roles, so he is so unlucky as he is now. And it cannot be denied that he was once very popular and tied him to this movie, so the film company will feel more at ease when considering investment."
"Well, I hope you're right." Larry said at last.
——
Johnny Kirkland and Michael Orwitz stood silently in the elevator, with no one talking around.
At the just-concluded press conference, Michael Orwitz officially announced his resignation from Disney. Although Disney promised to pay Orwitz $120 million to compensate, this does not change the fact that Orwitz fell into a big fall in the position of Disney president.
Compensation is just a trivial matter. For Orwitz, who has never failed in his career, failure is the most unbearable thing for him, but now, he has to swallow the bitter fruit in his own mouth.
The elevator stopped on the first floor underground, and as soon as the elevator door opened, the reporters who had been waiting here for a long time raised their cameras together.
Kaka's flashes were connected, and the reporters pushed each other and rushed towards the elevator door.
These damn reporters!
Orwitz cursed in his heart, but his face still maintained a very graceful smile and walked out of the elevator slowly.
The accompanying bodyguards separated the reporters in front, clearing a way for Orwitz.
The group got into the car smoothly. As soon as the door was closed, Orwitz's expression immediately became gloomy.
"As a matter of fact, Li Te said it!"
At this time, Orwitz mentioned Litt. Even if Johnny Kirkland was reluctant, he could only smile bitterly. Who made Litt not only accurately predict the direction of the whole thing, but even guessed that Disney board of directors might be lying to compensate for the issue of compensation.
Because he talked about this topic, Orwitz asked Lit about his current situation.
To Orwitz's surprise, no one in the car answered his words, including Johnny Kirkland, also chose to remain silent.
"What do you all do? Doesn't anyone know what Lite is doing recently?"
Everyone looked at me, and I looked at you, and finally focused their attention on Johnny Kirkland, because among the people present, only Johnny Kirkland had some dealings with Litt.
"He didn't come to you to get the company's registration certificate?" Johnny Kirkland was also wondering. Litt should have come to see Orwitz for a long time, but now it seems that things are not like that.
"We have never met again since you brought him to see me last time, and we haven't even passed the phone. Couldn't this kid cause any trouble again, right?"
Orwitz was not only a little worried.
Johnny Kirkland took out his cell phone, and after Lit changed his new residence, he left him a contact number, but he had never called him.
The phone dialed out and rang twice, and a strange man answered the phone.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Does Ritter-Lee live here?"
"Are you looking for Lite? He was on the plane at 8 o'clock this morning, probably now he is sleeping on the plane!"
"What, Lite left by plane, where has he been?"
"Who are you?"
"My name is Johnny Kirkland, I'm a lawyer. I think Little should have mentioned my name to you."
"Yes, Lite said there is a very annoying guy who calls this name. Sorry, is he talking about you?"
Johnny Kirkland almost burst into anger when he heard this, but in front of Orwitz, he couldn't just hang up the phone, so he had to grit his teeth and said, "Yes, that annoying guy is me!"
"He went to England to find an actress and it would take about a week to come back."
"Well, if he calls from the UK, if you ask him to contact me immediately, you will say that there are very important things." (please collect, recommend)
