Chapter 11 When Poaching

"Keanu!"

With a shout, the door of the conference hall was pushed open suddenly, and a tall man wearing sunglasses strode out.

Behind him, a press conference for a certain video was in full swing.

A man in a suit chased him out of the venue and blocked the tall man's way.

"The event is not over yet, where are you going?"

"You asked me to participate in this event. I'm here. Now I've done everything I should do. This video has nothing to do with me. Do you want me to sit in the audience and applaud there as hypocritically as others?" The tall man said with a displeasure expression on his face.

"You may not like my arrangement, but do you know how much effort I have spent to add you to the guest list of this event? You have not released new works for almost half a year. If you don't use this method to increase exposure, the audience will soon forget you. As an actor, do you think there is something worse than this?"

The agent Jeff patiently began to reason with the tall man and tried to persuade him to return to the event.

"If you forget, forget it, but not many people still remember me now!"

The tall man threw down this sentence and turned his head toward the elevator door.

Jeff put his hands on his hips, looked at the tall man with an angry but helpless expression on his face, and finally punched him hard on the wall beside him.

The tall man left the venue midway and quickly attracted the attention of the outside reporters at the press conference. They raised the camera in their hands without hesitation. In the flashes connected, the tall man walked towards the car waiting on the side of the road without saying a word.

"Mr. Reeves, what do you think of the movie "Mr. Sweetheart" released some time ago?"

"Mr. Sweetheart has already had a box office of more than $140 million. It is rumored that the star of the film, Tom Cruise, beat you in the audition and then got the role. How do you think about this?"

"Mr. Reeves, can you reveal what new film plans do you have recently?"

"Get out of the way, get out of the way!" The security personnel at the event blocked the reporters who tried to come forward to ask questions. The tall man had a gloomy face and quickly walked to the car door. He was about to bow his head and get in the car, but his movements suddenly stopped.

He raised his head and glanced at the bus platform across the street.

"Sir, are you sure you want to leave?" The driver reminded him in the car.

The tall man got into the car and looked at the bus platform through the window glass, as if he had confirmed something.

"Let's go."

The next second when the tall man withdrew his gaze, Li Te walked out of the telephone booth next to the bus platform, quickly stopped a taxi and took it in.

"Follow the car in front!"

The taxi driver was a little hesitant about Li Te's words, but when Li Te took out a hundred-dollar bill and shook it in front of him, he threw all his concerns behind him and began to track the car ahead with concentration.

After following the other party through two streets, the car in front suddenly started to turn on the left light.

"Is there a left turn intersection ahead?" Li Te asked hesitantly.

"No, I think they are going to park on the side!" The taxi driver slowed down and waited for Li Te's next instructions.

"Pretend to drive over as if nothing happened, and then stop a little in front!"

The taxi driver continued to drive forward for about 50 meters, then pulled over and stopped. Before the car could stop, Li Te pushed open the door and jumped down.

The taxi driver stretched out his head from the car and shouted at Li Te: "Hey, you haven't paid yet!"

Li Te, who had already walked out a few steps, folded it back, took out a $20 bill from his pocket and threw it into the car, and left without looking back.

The driver stuck his head out of the car again and shouted, "Why is it $20?"

Li Te raised his hand and waved it behind him twice, but the sound coming made the taxi driver angry.

"The rest is just a tip!"

Damn it, I also tipped it. It was clearly $100. I'm just helping you track people so hard. Now I'm fine. I'll give me $20!

"Damn liar! Stingy, I curse you to go to hell after you die!"

The taxi driver drove away cursingly, of course Li Te couldn't hear this, because he had already arrived at the place where the tall man got off the bus before, staring at the passing crowd to search for his target.

"Are you looking for me?"

A hand suddenly rested on Li Te's shoulder, which scared him.

The tall man looked at Li Te carefully and turned around. He was very sure that he had never seen this guy before, but he was secretly following him.

"What are you doing with me?"

Li Te did not answer, but asked the tall man a question.

"How did you find out?"

"Don't you think it would be particularly conspicuous to stand among a group of white people and black people? I found you when I came out of the press conference, and you were still standing on the bus platform across the street."

The tall man's expression was serious, but what he said made Li Te a little amused and cry.

"I'm really that conspicuous? It seems that I really don't have the talent to track others."

The tall man looked at Li Te with a expressionless face, "I answered your question, it's your turn now."

Li Te looked around and found that many passers-by had already focused on them, so he suggested: "This is not a place to talk, why don't we change another place?"

The tall man did not object. Five minutes later, they walked into a cafe on the street together.

The two chose a seat that was more hidden near the corner. After sitting down, the tall man ordered a cup of coffee he liked. Lite ordered the same cup as him, and then returned the order to the waiter.

"Do you like this flavor of coffee, too?"

"No, this is my first time drinking." Lite shook his head flatly.

The tall man raised his eyebrows and showed a little curiosity in his eyes.

"Why?"

"Because I think to understand a person, we should start by understanding his lifestyle habits, including the food tastes he likes and his hobbies. These are my job."

"Are you hired to investigate me?"

"Have you ever seen a private detective who looks as conspicuous as me?" Li Te sent back the tall man's comment on him just now.

"Then why do you want to know me?"

"Because I am an agent!" After revealing my identity, Li Te took out a business card from his pocket that had been printed half a day ago and handed it to the tall man.

The tall man took over the business card and was attracted by the company name above Li Te's name at first sight.

"Artist Management Group, is this a newly established brokerage company?"

"That's right!"

"So that's what you're following me today and convince me to switch to your company?"

"To be precise, it is to work with us to create a better future!" Li Te corrected.

"Sorry, I don't have any plans to change agents yet!" The tall man shrugged at Li Te regretfully, and directly expressed his attitude.

"Mr. Keanu Reeves, maybe you should listen to my plans first and then make a decision." When talking about the tall man's name, Litt emphasized his tone to show his solemnity.

The waiter brought two cups of coffee and put them down. Keanu Reeves picked up one of them, then put one hand on the back of the sofa, looked at Lit slantedly, and made a gesture of "You say it, but I may not listen carefully."

"Keanu, you should know that your situation is not good now. Tom Cruise, who is famous for about the same time as you, has now received a movie of $15 million. What about you?"

Hearing Tom Cruise's name, Keanu Reeves' expression immediately became a little bad, and he interrupted Litt with a stiff sternness.

"If you came here just to tell me this, then there is really no need for us to continue talking!"

"OK, let's just talk about you if we don't talk about others!" Li Te put his hands on the table and leaned forward slightly. "As far as I know, you have not received any film appointments at the moment, and this situation has lasted for almost three months. At the same time, there seems to be a small problem between you and your agent."

"So what? As you said, these are all small problems." Keanu Reeves said casually.

"Is it really just a small problem? Maybe in your opinion, I messed up several consecutive movies, and then I kept getting a little bit of friction with the agent because you were lucky during this period, but I don't think so, or have you ever thought about why this situation happened? Is it because you didn't work hard enough, or is it really bad luck? I don't think it's the real problem or is your agent not knowing what you want, and he doesn't understand what kind of video is really suitable for you!"

Litt's words made Keanu Reeves a little unhappy.

"Jeff has been helping me since my debut. He doesn't understand what kind of movie I should be in, do you understand?"

"I prefer to prove this with facts."

"How to prove it?"

Litt did not rush to answer Keanu Reeves' question, but picked up the coffee on the table and took a sip, frowned and said, "Now I have finally confirmed one thing, that is, I really don't like this flavor of coffee. It seems that we really can't agree on this issue, but one thing I'm very sure of is that as long as you have really read the script of the movie I said, I will definitely consider my previous proposal seriously!"
