(44) Do you marry her?

After the movie was finished, people left and I sat in the corner without moving. The thin man came to clear the scene with a yawn. He came in and took a look, then pulled down the lighting switch. I heard him in the lobby outside, saying to a handyman: "The first show tomorrow at 10 am, come and clean the venue early."

The projectionists above also came down, chatted and greeted each other for a few words, and then there was a sensation of footsteps. As the two doors closed slammed, everything returned to silence. In the darkness, I stood up, stretched my muscles and bones slightly, and walked slowly towards the back of the stage.

I turned over the stage and came to the narrow small iron ladder. I grabbed the handrails on both sides with both hands, climbed up step by step. After a turning platform, I climbed up in the dark for more than ten levels, and stood in front of the attic where the master originally lived. I calmed down and gently pushed the half-closed door, and a bright moonlight flowed like clear water.

In the dim light and shadow, I looked around. The cottage was still the same as before, but the master's things and the camphor wood box were gone. I stepped over the debris placed on the side, walked to the large glass window, opened the window bolt, and pushed open two closed windows. The breeze came, the stars drifted away, the night wiped away the colors of everything, but the moonlight formed a paradise like an illusion. Looking up, the moat water was sparkling, the street lights under the sycamore trees were mottled, and the noise of the day was gone, the world became peaceful and pure.

I sat on the empty bed, looking at the lonely night sky, and suddenly missed home. At this moment, my parents and my little sister should have fallen asleep, right? What are Ergoudan and others doing? Are they bragging together to brag, or go over the mountains to watch a movie in Lunan? Time flies so fast, and before I know it, I haven't been home for half a year. The changes in the past six months are so great, and it's a bit dazzled when I think of it, Master, Yin Hong, Senior Brother Xiao Cai, Fatty Zhang, Squad Leader Xu, a bunch of Mao Xiaoli, Director Tong and Cui Laoba... Thinking of Cui Laoba, I imitated it in the darkness.

The Buddha saw the white eyes again. He lay in front of my father and said those words coldly again in my mind. I was shocked and suddenly became upset. Will he know the relationship between the master and Yin Hong? If he knew that I didn't tell him, would he drive me out of the electrician team? My heart was beating and I thought of another question, should I confess to the master and tell you everything I had witnessed? But if that was really done, it would definitely give Yin Hong a fatal blow, destroying the happiness and seemingly beautiful future in front of her...

I sat in the attic for a long time, trying to sort out my thoughts, but it was still a mess. It was not until I was buzzing and bitten several big bags on my legs and arms by the mosquitoes. The strange itch made me wake up from the painful entanglement.

I got off the steep iron ladder, opened the hidden back door, and when I returned to the guesthouse, it was almost 12 o'clock.

The room was still on with lights, so I carefully walked around the backyard and went back to my power distribution room. I ate too much at Xiao Cai’s house at night and my stomach was a little uncomfortable. I picked up the kettle and wanted to pour a glass of water to drink, but the kettle was empty and there was no drop of water. Only then did I remember that I was leaving too hasty in the morning and forgot about boiling water. I hesitated for a moment, but still carried the kettle out.

I stood under the ginkgo tree and tried hard to twist the faucet to the smallest, but the sound of "cuckoo" running water in the night was still clear and seductive. I felt a pair of eyes looking down at me, and I couldn't help but glance up. Before I could see the face of the female ghost in red, the door upstairs opened with a creaking sound.

"Wu Ping, are you back?" The master's low and graceful baritone sounded above his head.

"Master." I responded softly.

"It's too hot, I'm sweating after rehearsal. Let's boil water for us first." In the backlight, the master leaned on the railing and looked at me from a high place. "Tomorrow, please tell Squad Leader Xia, get a new electric stove and install a socket in the room upstairs. We can boil water, so that we can save you from getting old."

"Yeah." I nodded silently, picked up the kettle and walked backwards, "I'll cook it, I'll send it to you."

"Okay, thank you." The master waved his hand and turned his head into the room.

My father had installed this electric stove with 2,000 watts, and a pot of water quickly boiled. I licked my dry lips, wrapped the handle of scrap wire with a rag, poured a large bowl for myself, and then carried it to the front yard.

I stepped on the stairs to the second floor and came to Yinhong's door. I saw the door was covered in vain. I was about to go forward and knock on the door, but the scene in the room made me stop. Yinhong's hair was scattered, sitting by the bed, nestled in the master's arms, and under my feet was an enamel basin with flowers. The master held her slender waist, whispered and kissed enthusiastically. A restless hand reached into her towering breasts, disturbing the woman's face and making her face flush and murmur.

"Master, the water... is ready." I was furious inside, and my voice couldn't stop trembling.

Hearing my words, Yin Hong raised her head in surprise, hurriedly pulled out the big hand on her chest, and instantly revealed a tender pink and white piece.

"I put the water next to the door." I put down the kettle, turned around and left quickly.

"Hey-Wu Ping, stand for a moment." As soon as I turned to the stairs, I was stopped by the master who chased me out.

"Master, are you... still in trouble?" I blushed and my hands were sweating.

"You didn't tell anyone about me and Yin Hong today, did you?" the master walked to me and asked quietly.

"No..." I raised my head and looked at him in confusion.

"That's good! Don't talk nonsense in the factory for us, especially when I'm here." The master said with a serious expression and solemnly.

"Yeah." I stood there, feeling a little confused, "Master, are you afraid of people knowing?"

My question made the master stunned for a moment, and he replied, "It's not that I'm afraid that people will know, but now I've just started working in the factory and there are some small discussions outside, and you may have heard of them. I won't talk about me and Yin Hong for the time being, so as not to have a bad impact. Do you understand?"

The master's eyes were filled with comfort, and my heart suddenly moved, and I couldn't stop blurting out: "Master, do you... really want to marry Sister Hong?"

My words surprised the master, and a trace of confusion appeared in his eyes: "We have just started, as for getting married... it's still early."

"So, you want to marry her, right? You said you like Sister Hong." In the shadow of the corridor, I stared into the master's eyes and asked stubbornly.

"Of course, why...why do you... want to ask about this?" The master hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded affirmatively.

It was as if a huge rolling stone had rolled over the heart, and I felt a heart-wrenching pain.

"Lu Yu - what are you doing? Get my shoes quickly, the water in the basin is cold!" Yin Hong called out in the room.

"Hey--it's here." The master responded intimately and patted my shoulder hard. "The situation in the factory is quite complicated. I can't make my case public yet. You must remember it."

The moonlight coated the quiet courtyard with a light layer of silver gray, and the ginkgo trees above my head began to rustle. I saw the female ghost in red staring at me, looking like she wanted to speak but stopped. What were you going to say to me? I looked at her steadily, but she shook her head and finally didn't speak again.

The night became even thicker. Outside the courtyard wall to the north, two barking sounds of farmers came from afar. The south was separated by the woods, and two more babies were crying in the collective dormitory. I turned around the corner of the building, and the lights on the building were extinguished, and my heart sank into the darkness.
