Chapter 10 The Past

Faced with Uncle Zhong’s series of inquiries, Lu Zhao hesitated for a moment and finally told the truth.

After hearing him say this, Uncle Zhong's face became even more gloomy: "So, you've left the room."

"Yes... the movement next door is so strange, I can't rest assured that woman."

Lu Zhao was mentally prepared and knew that he had been involved in something unclean, so he honestly said: "When I went out this morning, I met Ms. Feng, who lives in 01. She told me that 05 households were an empty house and had never lived in anyone at all. So Uncle Zhong, is the house next to me a haunted house, right?"

"In this world, there are some things that are difficult to explain with common sense. Almost all tenants here know about 05 households. But everyone usually turns a blind eye, and after all these years, they are all in peace."

Uncle Zhong seemed to have agreed with Lu Zhao's statement. He put down the key, walked to the desk, opened the drawer and found a stack of registration books.

"The mistress of the 05th household is named Lin Yue'e. She used to be a stock picker in the supermarket. Her husband is named Zhou Guangsheng, and she turned out to be a car salesman."

After seeing the information registered on the 05 household, Uncle Zhong seemed to be trapped in some kind of memory.

At the same time, Lu Zhao noticed that the time in the household registration book was actually in 1988.

"Uncle Zhong, Lin Yue'e and her husband moved in in 1988?" Lu Zhao asked, "Isn't that happening thirty years ago?"

Uncle Zhong glanced at him meaningfully, and did not say anything. Instead, he took out a clipping from the mezzanine of the registration book and handed it to Lu Zhao.

The moment she took the newspaper, Lu Zhao's eyes were attracted by the black and white photo of Lin Yue'e on it - sure enough, she was the woman who asked her for help last night.

After noticing the big title in the newspaper, Lu Zhao suddenly felt like he was hit hard by a heavy hammer, and the chill rushed up to his scalp along the soles of his feet:

"Don't leave! Daughter Dayi's wife's murderer"

"The electric dielectric block has a scrap bin, and the whereabouts of the body are still unknown."

"You are young and not a local, so of course you have never heard of the murder and dismemberment case that caused a sensation in Hong Kong in 1988." Uncle Zhong's voice suddenly rang, which shocked Lu Zhao.

"Yes, the woman you saw last night was already dead thirty years ago. Speaking of the tragedy that year, I still remember it freshly..."

Uncle Zhong told Lu Zhao that the male owner of the 05 household, Zhou Guangsheng, had a daughter with his wife Lin Yue'e during his lifetime. She was 18 years old. She was in high school at the boarding school and would only go home on holidays.

"This Zhou Guangsheng was also unlucky. He drove drunk in a social business and accidentally hit someone. He heard that the person was not dead, and his family paid a lot of money one after another. Their daughter had to study and had to pay a lot of tuition. The couple were desperate and had to sell their original house and move to this broken place."

Uncle Zhong shook his head repeatedly: "Because of this incident, Zhou Guangsheng lost his job. Since then, the family has been supported by his wife Lin Yue'e. He has been idle all day long and has been drinking and living at home. When he gets drunk, he will go crazy and beat his late wife to pieces all over the body, and he also suspects that she is stealing people outside."

Lu Zhao was secretly shocked when he heard this. The things Uncle Zhong described were exactly the same as what Lin Yue'e said last night.

"Speaking of this, Lin Yue'e is also a pitiful person. She works as a stock picker in a nearby supermarket. She is honest and honest and weak-hearted. Every time she is beaten by her husband, she will just cry and run to the corridor to ask for help from her neighbors. I have called her a few times for the police, but it doesn't work. As soon as the police leave, she will continue to beat her. Her man is drunk every day, and she will fall and smash it at night. After a long time, the neighbors around her are no longer surprised."

Uncle Zhong lit a cigarette and slowly put it in his mouth: "But suddenly one day, the 05 households became quiet. In the week after that, no one complained to me that family disturbed the people late at night."

As a security guard, Zhou Guangsheng had not seen him go downstairs to buy wine for several days. Uncle Zhong felt strange at the time, so he found an excuse and visited him.

When I arrived at the door of House 05, Lin Yue'e was the one who opened the door to me. Uncle Zhong was quite surprised. That day was not a holiday, but Lin Yue'e was still at home and did not go to work.

Uncle Zhong noticed that she was covered in scars, with severe bruises at the corners of her eyes and mouth.

At that time, Uncle Zhong thought to himself that this poor woman must have been beaten by her husband again and was recovering from her injuries at home.

Because of being abused for many years, Uncle Zhong’s impression is that Lin Yue’e has never smiled since she moved to the building. She always gives people a feeling of fatigue and haggard vicissitudes, as if she has lost hope for life.

But this time is different from before. Although she was injured on her body, Lin Yue'e's eyes looked particularly bright, and she looked strangely energetic, and she looked like she broke free from some kind of shackles and was reborn.

Facing Uncle Zhong’s inquiry, Lin Yue'e said that her husband had completely repented and would never beat her again. Not only that, he also had a new job under his own introduction, and now he is going out for business with his friends.

"At that time, I followed her into the house with doubts and found that Zhou Guangsheng was really not at home. I thought that this poor woman had finally come to the end of her hardships. After a few greetings with her, she left... Until that night, her eldest daughter Zhou Ailing came to me cry and called the police."

Afterwards, Uncle Zhong found out that it was summer vacation and the school was on vacation. After Zhou Ailing returned, she found that her mother was injured everywhere, but her father was missing.

Zhou Ailing asked her mother what happened, but Lin Yue'e said that she killed Zhou Guangsheng.

Zhou Meiling knew that her parents often quarreled, and her father had the bad habit of drinking and beating her mother. Her mother was weak and never resisted. She even got beaten to death by her father several times and was half-dead in the hospital. Therefore, she only thought that her mother was talking angry and did not pursue it too much.

But in a blink of an eye, a week passed and Zhou Ailing never saw her father appear. Not only that, she found that her mother's behavior became increasingly strange, and she often was busy alone in the kitchen in the middle of the night, not knowing what she was doing.

Only then did she realize that everything her mother said might be true.

In horror, Zhou Ailing found Uncle Zhong, and the two hurriedly called the police.

"Later, the police came and took the person away directly." Uncle Zhong said that in the face of the police's inquiry, Lin Yue'e was extremely calm.

She said she could no longer bear it. On the night a week ago, when the drunk Zhou Guangsheng beat her and returned to the bedroom to rest, she rushed into the storage room in anger, took out a hammer, and hit Zhou Guangsheng hard on the head.

After Zhou Guangsheng died, in order to destroy the body, Lin Yue'e used a chainsaw to dismember him and discard him at a nearby garbage station.

Lu Zhao listened on the side, his heart beating wildly. When he thought of such a cruel case of corpse dismemberment, it really happened next to him, and was separated from the bed where he was sleeping, he felt that the coldness on his back was like a gust of breeze blew, and his body was filled with coldness.

However, what is strange is that according to the crime confessed by Lin Yue'e, the police did not find the body she mentioned when searching the garbage station.

At that time, the police suspected that the body had been taken away by the garbage station, and because the time interval of the crime was too long, even if they went to the garbage station to search, it would be almost impossible to have any clues.

When collecting evidence at Lin Yue'e's home on site, the police found that everything at the scene was emptied and there was no piece of furniture; and they only found a small amount of blood on the bedroom and kitchen doors, ceilings and walls.
