Chapter 207 The Peninsula War

After taking off from Cairo, the head of state's special plane headed south, crossed the vast Arabian desert, and flew along the Egyptian coast for a distance. After the special plane turned left at Cape Berenisee and began to fly towards the Arabian Peninsula. The altitude of the plane was maintained at 2,000 meters. Through the low-altitude floating clouds, you can clearly see a huge fleet of transport ships on the sea, moving forward against the waves of the Red Sea.

This was a supply fleet that was driven from Suez last night, loaded with African Legion supplies and some British reinforcements.

The four infantry battalions of the British vanguard had already captured Jeddah Port and were attacking the holy city of Mecca along the road. They were blocked by a large number of tribal warriors on the road. These Arab warriors were not far behind the British landing forces in terms of light weapons and equipment. Some tribal warriors were even equipped with water-cooled Maxim machine guns.

Ironically, most of these weapons were made in Britain, which in turn caused considerable casualties to the British army. As a result, while the British soldiers on the front line fought, cursing the idiotic MPs in the parliament and the killing British arms dealers.

The British army landed in the landing were light infantry units, which were only equipped with some trucks for transporting supplies. The light armored squadron assigned to them was equipped with only twenty-four tracked Brun machine gun vehicles. Although the Brun machine gun vehicles had certain protection capabilities, the problem was that the carriages of such vehicles were convertible, and those Saudi resistance armed forces occupied the commanding heights of hills on both sides of the road, and could easily shoot the drivers and machine gun shooters in the car from a highway condescendingly.

Finally, the British army had the advantage of heavy firepower. They carried four 25-pound cannons and twelve 18-pound cannons, and each company and platoon was equipped with 2-inch and 3-inch mortars of varying numbers. The previous article said that nomadic tribes lacked artillery and also lacked ammunition for artillery. Although the warriors showed extraordinary courage under the inspiration of religion, in the face of the bombardment of modern infantry cannons, the so-called spiritual power of human beings was not worth a penny at all.

The British landing forces relied on firepower to clear the blocking positions of tribal armed forces one by one, but the British commander was very clear-headed. The advantages brought by this firepower were only temporary. Arab tribal reinforcements were gathering from all directions. Once the British ammunition supply problems occurred, the force was likely to be surrounded by tribal armed forces. At that time, the tragedy of the Battle of Isandelvana in the Zulu War may repeat outside the city of Mecca.

However, the British Command still maintained an optimistic attitude. The current combat situation was not the same as the Zulu War. The Royal Navy had firmly controlled the port of Jeddah, and there would be no problem with the landing troops' retreat. Moreover, the bomber troops of the British and German air forces had already entered the temporary air force base outside Yanbu Port at this time, and they would soon provide air firepower support for the landing British troops, so there was no need to worry about the danger of being surrounded by heavy enemy troops. However, the gap in force still needs to be paid attention to. The British Command transferred two infantry battalions and a medium-sized armored squadron from Suez, and put them into the battle sequence of attacking the holy city of Mecca.

At present, in terms of intelligence collection on the Peninsula battlefield, the Saudi Kingdom is completely unilaterally transparent to the British-German coalition forces. Saudi Arabia established several wired telegraph lines with the help of the British, and then bought some radios from the Americans, but they did not have professional coders and the passwords used were very simple. As a result, the Germans spent half a day to decipher the special password of the Saudi royal family. It can be said that every order issued by Riyadh is probably not even enough to decipher, so the receiver has placed it on General Quheer's desk before he could decipher it.

"The end of this war can be seen." Xu Jun stretched out his hand and passed the telegram that Quheerer had just sent to Weirle.

"Congratulations, my head of state, the 26th Infantry Division captured Maijima last night, and the 31st Infantry Division took Brenda this morning." Weirle raised his head and said with a smile: "A armored company of the 21st Armored Regiment and a motorized infantry battalion of the British army have seized the Huramila Pass, which is only seventy kilometers away from Riyadh in a straight line."

"The direct radio listening brigade of the Legion intercepted the telegram sent by Riyadh to the consul of the port of Daman and ordered him to prepare the exclusive royal cruise ship. It is obvious that Ibn Saudi Arabia has realized that he has lost the war and he has considered how to escape." Xu Jun handed another telegram to Weirle.

Because the plan was discovered in advance, the British garrison on the Arabian Peninsula was not transferred. Under the strict orders of the London cabinet, the British Army and border police forces had closed all border ports around Saudi Arabia and blocked the borders of these countries. The coalition forces invaded Saudi Arabia from the direction of TransJordan and directly cut off the passage between Saudi Arabia and Iraq and Kuwait. The Emirate of Mascott in the south and the Islamic Kingdom of Oman are both protected countries of Britain, and Yemen on the other end is Saudi Arabia's mortal enemy. The Hanzhi area to the west is under the attack of the British army. Although a large number of tribal forces have gathered to defend the enemy, it will be a matter of time before Saudi Arabia. So now, the only way to the east is left to walk this road.

"He may also make his last try near Riyadh," Weirle said, holding his chin.

"I hope he does this. Ibn Saudi Arabia has no chance. I now doubt whether the nomadic tribes are willing to obey his orders. I'm afraid that many tribe chiefs have begun to prepare for replacement." Xu Jun sneered and knocked on the small table in front of him.

"Do they really dare to do this? My head of state, after all, Ibn Saudi Arabia is still an Imam of the Wahhabi faction." Weirle said in surprise.

"Don't forget that these tribes did not believe in the Wahhabi faction before Saudi Arabia returned to Riyadh. And for their history, it is normal for sects to rise and fall. I really want to see if Ibn Saudi Arabia has the strength to launch a "holy war". "Xu Jun took the wine glass from Diesenhofen and put it under his nose and sniffed it gently.

"What if he really issued a jihad order?" Weirler smiled and took his wine glass.

"Ibn Saudi Arabia is already sixty years old. He is no longer the energetic young chief back then. He buried the Ikhwan movement himself. The religious soldiers who were fanatical about following him have now grown old and can never repeat the weather thirty years ago. The only thing the king can mobilize now is the basic cadre team of the tribe." Xu Jun raised his glass to Weiller with a smile, then raised his head and drank a small sip of whiskey.

"This wine is good. Remember to write down the brand. Weiville seems to be quite tasteful." The head of state said with satisfaction.

"Is this wine given by Weiville?" Weirle lowered his head and sniffed it carefully.

"It has been checked after opening the bottle, General Weirle." Diesenhaufen reminded him.

"Are you worried that the British would poison them in the wine?" Xu Jun glanced at his chief of staff with his eyes.

"The British are indeed the best at poisoning alcohol. In history, they have no idea how many nobles and kings have poisoned them. However, in addition to completely destroying Britain, they will not get any benefits. I just wanted to distinguish the difference between Scotch and Irish whiskey." Weirler raised his eyebrows on one side and answered seriously.

"My head of state, we have arrived at the destination. Please be prepared. The plane is about to land." At this time, a flight attendant stepped forward to report.

"It's already here? Time flies so fast." The head of state put the wine glass on the table and reached out to tighten the seat belt around his waist.

In the seat, you can feel that the plane is descending slowly. Xu Jun opened the curtain and looked down. A yellow-brown winding coastline appeared in front of him. You can clearly see the sharp reefs among the snow-white waves and the sharp cape inserted into the sea.

"This is Yanbu." Xu Jun turned around and said to Weirler.

"Dogen and Randolph should have been waiting at the airport to greet you." Weirler said, nodding.

"What else is that name? By the way, Prince Fahir. After reading these telegrams, I can't wait to see him now." Xu Jun picked up the wine glass again, raised his head and drank it all.
