Chapter 183 On the way

The meteorological conditions in Berlin are good and are very suitable for flight. The four existing fw200s in the squadron are all pulled to the runway to take their seats.

Many of these aircraft have now retired from the Air Force, but they have not had time to convert them into transportation because the bombing and machine gun pods at the bottom of the fuselage need to be removed. This modification can only be completed in professional factories. Now, the airport runway of the Fokker Wolf factory is full of such large patrol aircraft.

Last month, the Berlin Air Force Base received six modified vultures to serve as official business aircraft for government officials. The best-in-class one was identified as one of the backup aircraft directly under the Imperial Head of State, and no unit calls were allowed to be on standby in the hangar for 24 hours. This vulture did not improve the engine and wings like Empire One, but was renovated quite luxuriously inside the cabin to cater to the tastes of the Lord of State.

The German head of state's trip can be said to be quite low-key. Except for some of the heads of the commander, not many people in the government knew about the head of state leaving Berlin.

The straight line distance from Berlin to the port of Taranto, Italy is about 1,300 kilometers. It was originally necessary to cross three countries, Czech Republic, Austria and Yugoslavia, but now the first two countries have been annexed by the Third Reich, so the only foreign airspace that the planes need to cross on the way is Yugoslavia.

The Yugoslav Air Force is not large in scale and its equipment is relatively backward. It has been purchasing active aircraft from Britain and France in the past. After the improvement of relations with Germany, it also obtained a batch of Messer Schmidt 109 fighter jets. Yugoslavia's own country has also developed a light fighter jet with the ik, which is similar to the French MS406 fighter jet in both appearance and performance. Historically, when Germany invaded Yugoslavia, the air force equipped with ik fighter jets carried out tenacious resistance, but after only six days of persistence, it was completely lost.

Germany has formed a military alliance with Yugoslavia, so there is no need to worry about any accidents in the other side's airspace. In addition, Germany has stationed several fighter squadrons in Ljubljana, and they will dispatch planes to clear the airspace around the route.

The Luftwaffe Command also drew a BF110 Destroyer Squadron from the Salzburg base. They would meet with the head of state in Austria and then fly to Italy for the entire escort plane.

The German head of state's special plane has special numbers and paintings, which is difficult to hide from industry peers, so the plane will not stop at any airport in the middle, but with a flight of up to 3,500 kilometers for FW200, this distance is just a trivial matter.

After taking off from Berlin, the journey was very smooth. The plane made only twice a turn near Munich, in order to avoid a thunderstorm cloud over the local area. After flying over the original German-Australia border, the fleet met with the escort squadron that took off from Salzburg on time.

The pilots of the deportation aircraft did not know the truth about their mission in advance. The commander of the leader only knew that the Air Force General Command ordered them to go to the designated area, meet with a German transport aircraft formation, and then escorted the planes to the port of Taranto. It was not until the deportation aircraft was close to the distance where the condor fuselage could clearly see the signs of the vultures that the pilots of the special plane informed them of the passengers via radio.

"Please keep a safe distance. Gentlemen, this is the special plane of the head of the empire." The pilot of the special plane said this just as a show-off. After a few seconds of silence, the special communication frequency suddenly became similar to that of a vegetable market.

The captain left the cab and entered the cockpit. He respectfully asked the head of state to open the sunshade on the porthole. Xu Jun did not react for a while and subconsciously did so. Then he saw twelve bf110 fighter jets arranged in an orderly column and slowly passed through the porthole in sequence. The crew members in the cockpit raised their hands to salute the head of state. The pilots' neat tribute sounded in the cabin microphone at the same time.

After this dramatic aerial parade, the head of state remained quite happy during the next few hours of voyage.

There are no mobile audio and video equipment these days, and long-distance flights are quite boring. In a limited and closed space, there is almost nothing to do except read and chat.

Sometimes Hitler would read books on the plane for a while or chat with the sycoons he accompanied. Most of the time he would fall into quiet contemplation. No one knew what he was thinking, but there were indeed many important decisions made during the flight.

Xu Jun also liked to consider issues during the flight. Diesenhaufen followed the convention and carried some official documents that must be reviewed as soon as possible, so the head of the empire began to work in the air in a hurry.

Xu Jun signed a report on the construction of a new engine manufacturing plant, put down his pen and rubbed his eyebrows.

"Willer, I always feel like I have forgotten something." Xu Jun said to Willer.

"Is it a very important thing?" Weirler leaned forward with his elbow on his seat armrests.

"It should be very important. I feel this way, but now I just can't remember it." The head of state shook his head.

"Forget it, don't worry about it for now. Eric, find out the report from the Krupp factory for me." Xu Jun turned his face and said to Dieshenhofen, who was sitting diagonally behind.

"Please wait, my head." Dieshenhofen started rummaging in the cowhide document box placed in the middle of the aisle.

"Please wait a moment, I may have heard it wrong. Are you saying that this meeting was cancelled?" Molotov stood in the waiting room of the Prime Minister's Office and looked at Ribintrop with a puzzled look.

"You heard it right, Mr. Molotov, because of an unexpected change, the meeting can only be cancelled." Ribbentrop scratched his nose awkwardly.

"Mr. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, you should understand that the nature of such problems may become very serious. Can you tell me what the accident you are talking about? I must know the real reason, otherwise I will not be able to reply to Moscow." Molotov suppressed the anger in his chest, and he stared at Ribintrov's eyes and asked.

"The Head of State suddenly left Berlin an hour ago."

"What? He doesn't know how important the meeting today is?" Molotov's voice turned sharper at this time.

"Please note your words, you are talking about the head of the Great German Empire, Mr. Diplomatic People's Committee member." Ribbintrov lowered his face.

"I must report what happened here to Moscow. This behavior of your head of state will have an impact on the good friendship between the Soviet Union and Germany. You must bear all the consequences." Molotov said coldly.

"Should I regard this as a threat? Mr. People's Commissar of Diplomacy." Ribbentrop's face showed a sneer.

"Whatever you think, Mr. Foreign Minister, I don't want to stay here anymore, there will be a period of time, Mr. Foreign Minister." Molotov turned around and took his escort to leave the VIP waiting room.
