Thirty-sixth Gathering (Part 1)

It was not until the victory of the Russo-Japanese War that Japan had the opportunity to get involved in the Yangtze River Basin. Previously, this big river was always a forbidden body for Western colonists. It was not until the Japanese Navy entered the Yangtze River that it realized that it did not have a gunboat suitable for use on this river. In fact, Western colonists had encountered this problem, so they developed a special ship type, collectively called the [Yangzi River-type gunboat].

The Japanese Navy learned a lot from the British, including the design and use of this shallow water inland ship. At that time, Japan-UK relations were still in the honeymoon period, and the British almost fully taught them to their allies in Asia. Although this kind of ship looks like it was modified from civilian ships, it is actually a specially designed armed ship.

The requirements for draft and speed lead to their generally low shape, and their freeboards usually do not exceed two meters, so as to facilitate the use of Chinese-style wooden transport ships and simple docks on the Yangtze River.

In order to safeguard the so-called interests of Japan in the Yangtze River Basin, the Japanese Navy actually designed and built six-level eleven inland gunboats. From this we can see Japan's territorial ambitions and attitude towards China's territorial ambitions and attention to the Yangtze River route.

As colonial forces such as Britain, the United States and France slowly contracted from the Yangtze River Basin, Japan's first fleet has basically controlled the Yangtze River route from Shanghai to Hankou. The only foreign merchant ships with the word "rice" or "stars and stripes" are not under their control.

Japan's water blockade of the Guofu has promoted the vigorous development of British and American cargo ship smuggling business. Dozens or even hundreds of tons of strategic materials are secretly imported into the Guofu controlled area through water and land transport. The source of all business is the Shanghai Beach, the magic capital at the estuary of the Yangtze River.

Although half of the troops of the First Fleet were placed in Shanghai, Japan could not break up with the Western powers at this time, so it could not supervise the transportation of Western merchant ships. Faced with the repeated accusations from the Army, the Navy believed that it had fulfilled its responsibilities. The Army's horse manure did not understand the inside story and was not qualified to complain.

The Biliang is the second ship of the [Shiduo] class gunboat. It is the largest class of all the Yangtze River inland gunboats built by Japan, with a total of four sister ships.

This gunboat with a full load and drainage of 380 tons is equipped with two 80 mm high-level dual-purpose naval guns and six Lewis machine guns, and is equipped with two expansion reciprocating steam engines, with a power of 2,100 horsepower and a speed of 16 knots, which is fully in line with the Japanese Navy's standards for the Yangtze River gunboat.

[Biliang] Just finished a two-week cruise two days ago. The sailors were still on the ship to prepare for the final preparations, clearing the debris left by the long voyage, flushing the inner cabin and deck, and replacing the parts damaged during the mission on the ship. This kind of inland gunboat is usually a little loose in sailor discipline, but it still adheres to the strict requirements of the Japanese Navy in terms of equipment and maintenance.

Captain Hasegawa, the captain of the captain, caught a cold, did not visit [Prince Eugen]. When the war preparation notice was issued, he was drinking ginger soup specially cooked for him by a Chinese chef in the spacious captain's room.

After putting down the phone, the captain rushed to the bridge with his nose and sounded the battle alarm for the entire ship with his own hands.

According to the standards, the [Biliang] should be equipped with 62 crew members. In fact, due to the living conditions, few inland gunboats have reached full capacity. At present, there are only 51 officers and soldiers on this gunboat, including a Chinese chef and four Chinese servants hired in Hanyang, who are non-combatants.

The captain conveyed the commander's order to the gathered sailors. This place is not far from the Bund. The sailors had actually noticed the black smoke and the fierce guns and cannons coming out there. They were guessing whether the concession was conducting some practical exercises, and they made such a big noise. Now that they heard the truth of the matter from the captain's mouth, the officers and soldiers were immediately excited. They rushed into the cabin and quickly armed themselves. The officers and soldiers of the ship couldn't wait to accompany the commander to attack the army's rebellion.

The Japanese Navy does not need to mobilize any kind of mobilization to fight the army. From the moment they join the army, these naval soldiers were instilled with naval values. Even the lowest orderly soldiers still despise the army's locals from the bottom of their hearts.

The Navy is a technical branch and has high requirements for the cultural quality of soldiers. In terms of the treatment of soldiers, it has also left the army a few streets.

Just when the Japanese Army was still calculating the portion size, the Japanese Navy had already started to calculate the calories. When the Japanese Army was learning to calculate the calories, the Navy was calculating the nutrition.

There must be meat for three meals, soy sauce, rice and rice, desserts are available after meals, and beer is available in leisure. On certain battleships with superior conditions, there are cold drinks in summer, which makes the army soldiers who are chewing cold rice balls in the sun and rain not have jealous eyes red.

The conflict between the Japanese army and navy has been around for a long time, and it is a miracle that no fire has occurred yet.

It is common for two armies to fight in private. When encountering such group fights, people generally think that the army must have the upper hand. Isn’t these horse manure trained every day to fight on the ground? But in fact, the winning side of this kind of private fight between the people is often the naval officers and soldiers.

First of all, naval soldiers like to go out to the streets and take vacations according to the left and right sides of the ship. They often go down half of the ship at once. When they encounter a fleet that is on the harbor, hundreds of sailors can be summoned by a greeting on the street. However, because the army is stationed in the place, there are strict restrictions on the number of people going out of the camp, and as a result, they often fall at a disadvantage in the number of people.

Moreover, the Japanese naval sailors had good food and sufficient nutrition, and their physical fitness was generally better than that of the army soldiers. In this regard, the US military in history can provide proof that the Japanese army guarding the island usually had no ammunition and food, and the last one was often several navals. When the army soldiers were too hungry to walk, the navy was at most hungry and lost weight, and they could still jump around in the woods.

In addition, the Japanese Navy conducts strict melee training for sailors. Kendo and judo are important subjects in naval training. Moreover, because the melee subjects are relatively single, the training time is often longer than that of army soldiers. After years of practice, there are many fighting experts who can reach the high level, so the navy does not suffer any losses when fighting.

[Biliang] The naval sailors on the number of 199th were fighting with the army guys in Huajie Liuxiang in Hongkou. The 109th Regiment was their old opponent. This time, he heard that the group of horse manure had broken brains and even made trouble. At this time, if you don’t take any harm, you can still be considered a good man of the Japanese Navy?

Captain Hasegawa resolutely decided to lead the troops in person despite his physical discomfort. With the help of the orderly soldiers, the captain changed into a straight naval uniform, put on a soft combat cap, tied a cowhide strap that he had not used for a long time, and hung a naval saber that had been placed on the captain's room knife stand for decoration.

Hasegawa held a black pistol holster on his shoulder, pulled out the holster Browning 1910 from the holster and checked the magazine, then pulled the bolt hard to load it.

"Go! (Departure)" Hasegawa glanced at his subordinates who were neatly arranged on the dock, and said nothing nonsense. He led the team to the meeting place under the order.

ps: I am in poor condition today and have a fewer words. I will try to make up for the big chapter tomorrow.
