Chapter 330 Battle of Songshan (1)

Yiyi bid farewell, and Dong Limao sent Dao Lanxiang away like this.

Dao Lanxiang's departure this time became a perfect deed.

At night, Dong Limao thought of a problem.

That is, before traveling through time, my father mentioned that Dao Lanxiang took the photo of his great-grandfather and went to see his great-grandfather.

Thinking of this, Dong Limao was shocked and then he remembered the photo.

Dong Limao ran to the cave where he spent the last night with Elizabeth Teri. He clearly remembered that he did not take away the photos at that time, so he went to the stream with Elizabeth Teri, and then something unfortunate happened, and later he forgot the photos.

"Come..." Dong Limao held up the pine oil lamp and looked around, but didn't see the photos, so he shouted loudly.

"Company Commander, what's wrong?" asked two guards running into the entrance of the cave.

"Who sorted out this cave after Miss Taili's death?" Dong Limao asked around the cave walls.

"It was compiled by the sword doctor." A guard replied.

"Lanxiang..." Dong Limao thought that the photo might have been put away by Daolanxiang, so he ran out of the cave and returned to the cave where he and Daolanxiang lived, wanting to see if Daolanxiang put the photo somewhere.

However, Dong Limao almost searched through all corners of the cave and found no photos.

"It's broken..." Dong Limao sat on the ammunition box and said to himself: "Lanxiang took away the photo. I will never go back to the era I used to live, and I will never see my parents and Rushuang again. I will die in Songshan..."

Daolanxiang did take the photo away. When she was packing her luggage, she thought to hand it over to Dong Limao, but later she thought that if he had any accidents, she and her children would have no thoughts. In the future, the child would be born, and she would not know what her father looked like. So Daolanxiang left the photo on her, just to have a thought in the future. It seemed that she could never see Dong Jiacheng again.

Of course, Dong Limao didn't know Dao Lanxiang's thoughts. He also hoped to use that photo to travel back at the end of the Songshan Battle.

"Did Lanxiang say that when she found her great-grandma later and handed the photo to her great-grandma, 'This is the only relic left by Company Commander Dong. He gave it to me before rushing into the underground tunnel. He asked me... to hand it over to you...', it was a lie. Dao Lanxiang was not with her great-grandma back then, but was it just compiled by her?" Dong Limao thought of this and was extremely desperate: "If this is true, I am already a dead person. Maybe I will pay tribute to the great-grandma in Songshan. I am in tribute to the great-grandma in order to pay tribute to the great-grandma in Songshan."

My grandfather fell into the explosion pit and was already dead. Now the corpse may be rotting." Dong Limao groped with his hands on himself: "Even if this is true, this time travel is worth it! He lived a loud life! When others die, nothing is nothing. Even if he is such a great person, but I, a poor student who failed the college entrance examination twice, actually traveled through time and became a great-grandfather after his death, and killed the Japanese in a vigorous manner. This is thousands of times better than those bullshit great people!"

Thinking of this, Dong Limao laughed, laughing heartily, completely dispelling his thoughts and mentally prepared for the heroic battle in Songshan.

In the next six months, Dong Limao led the spy company to accept the leadership of Zheng Chengkui, commander of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Column in Western Yunnan. He was mainly engaged in sneak attacks on the Japanese convoys and small Japanese and puppet troops on the road. There was no major battle. This kind of battle did not cause the spy company to lose its personnel. He protected the lives of his brothers well.

However, in June 1944, the Expeditionary Force began a full-scale counterattack on western Yunnan and started the Songshan Battle, the bad luck of the spy company had just begun.

In order to cooperate with crossing the Nujiang River to attack Songshan defending the enemy, the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Column in western Yunnan received an order from the Expeditionary Force headquarters, requiring the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Column to launch attacks on major towns such as Tengchong, Longling and Mangshi to restrain the Japanese and puppet troops from reinforcements to Songshan.

The attack on Longling County became the main battlefield for the guerrilla column. Zheng Chengkui personally led the guerrilla column to cooperate with the two divisions and one regiment of the 71st Army of the 11th Army that bypassed Songshan. Among them, Dong Limao's spy company also participated in the battle to siege Longling.

The battle started on June 1, and the Expeditionary Force on the east bank of the Nujiang River shot heavily in the Japanese positions of Songshan and Yinbushan. With the cooperation of the aircraft, the 28th Division of the 71st Army of the 11th Army forced its way across the Nujiang River and attacked Zhuzipo.

The sudden left-wing offensive of the Expeditionary Force made the Japanese army passive, and quickly mobilized the Japanese and puppet troops in western Yunnan and the Myanmar Front to reinforce the Songshan Front.

In Longling, blocking the Japanese and puppet troops' reinforcements to Songshan became the key to taking down Songshan. However, due to the continuous mobilization of a large number of troops from Mangshi and Ruili Myanmar, and the easy defense and difficult attack of Longling City, the two divisions and a regiment of the Expeditionary Force, plus Zheng Chengkui's western Yunnan guerrilla column, were actually fighting alone, and logistics supplies were not guaranteed at all. Songshan could not capture it for a long time, resulting in the battle being in a stalemate.

In order to facilitate readers to understand the situation at that time, Xiongqi is here, it is necessary to give a preliminary introduction to the forces and combat situation of the Expeditionary Army that mainly attacked Songshan:

****, the 82nd Regiment of the 28th Division of the 71st Army of the 11th Army, after crossing the Nujiang River, quickly occupied Zhuzipo.

On June 5, the 82nd Regiment of the 28th Division of the 71st Army attacked the Yinchong position. Yinchong had a steep slope of 60 to 70 degrees, and there were castles everywhere, which were barriers to Songshan’s main peak. The Japanese army suddenly opened fire within 100 meters of the Expeditionary Force entering the position. Only one platoon of people hitting the top of the mountain survived. Although with the support of the East Coast Mountain Artillery Battalion, the 82nd Regiment launched a peak attack on the top of the mountain twice, both of which were defeated.

On June 6, the 82nd Regiment transferred 2 American "Bazuka" rocket launchers and 3 m2 flamethrowers. The infantry crossed the barbed wire and rushed to the top of the mountain to fight with the Japanese army. However, on the inclined surface and Songshan Japanese artillery fire bombarded the top of the mountain, causing the officers and soldiers who attacked the top of the mountain to withdraw from the battle. Company Liang of the 7th Company and Company Li of the 9th Company were killed.

On June 7, the 82nd Regiment captured the Yin Mountaineering position, and the Japanese captain was blown up and committed suicide by breaking his legs. The 83rd Regiment attacked Gulongpo. Gulongpo was the highest point behind Zhuzipo. If it could be occupied, the Japanese army in Songshan would be attacked from both sides. Therefore, the battle was fierce and fierce.

On June 820, the overall war was deadlocked. On the 11th, the 117th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 6th Army was transferred to the 28th Division. On the 13th, the Expeditionary Force destroyed the Japanese army from Huangtupo to Dayakou under the guidance, and the Yinding Mountain Water Supply Pipe. On the 15th, the 83rd Regiment occupied three small fortresses on Yinding Mountain. On the 17th, the 82nd Regiment occupied most of the top of Yinding Mountain, and the 83rd Regiment captured two fortresses at Dayakou. The Songshan offensive did not make great progress.

On the contrary, the troops attacking Longling were in danger. Wei Lihuang was forced to use the newly formed 8th Army of the General Reserve Team of the Expeditionary Force, the 3rd Battalion of the 2nd Regiment of the 1st Division, and the 3rd Regiment of the Rong 3rd Regiment to attack Songshan. On the 20th, the 82nd Regiment completely occupied Yindengshan, but was unable to attack Songshan. The 83rd Regiment and the 2nd Battalion of the 84th Regiment attacked Gunlongpo. At this point, in the Songshan attack battle, more than 1,600 casualties were killed and killed in various units of the Expeditionary Force, of which more than 1,600 were injured or killed in the New 28th Division.

In mid-June, the rainy season came, mountain torrents broke out, the Nujiang River surface doubled, traffic was cut off, mountain roads were muddy, mules, horses, and cars could not move. Without logistical support, the expeditionary army was shaken and the offensive declined. Although the number of people was superior, the time and place were not good. When the war was against the water, the traffic was blocked, heavy rain was pouring, and the attack was difficult. On the 21st, Wei Lihuang and Song Xilian realized that Songshan, which was in a secondary position in the original plan, had become the key, and if Songshan failed, it might collapse on the whole line. So he ordered the commander of the 71st Army Zhong Bin to lead the main force of the 84th Regiment of the New 28th Division to transfer to Songshan to supervise the battle command.

From June 22 to 23, the commander of the 71st Army deployed the 117th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 6th Army, the 1st Battalion of the 82nd, 83rd, and 84th Regiment of the 71st Army's new 28th Division, and the mountain artillery company of the 71st Army attacked the Japanese army in Songshan. The casualties were extremely heavy.

On June 27, Zhong Bin ordered Liu Youjun to be the front-line commander, and the last joint attack of the 117th Regiment and the 1st Artillery Regiment was also declared a failure.

On June 28, six Japanese aircraft dropped ammunition supplies to the garrison troops of the garrison. This was the first time that Japanese aircraft appeared in Songshan since the Battle of Songshan, which greatly encouraged the morale of the Japanese troops in the garrison of Songshan.

At this point, the first phase of the Songshan Battle ended with the failure of the Expeditionary Force. By the beginning of July, the 8th Army captured several support points for the Japanese army's Zhuzipo, Lameng Street and Yin Mountaineering.

In the first phase of the battle to attack Songshan, to be precise, it was late at night on June 5 that Dong Limao received an order asking him to lead the spy company to blow up the Jinjin River highway bridge leading to Songshan from Longling.

This is the only highway bridge from Longling to Songshan. As long as the bridge is blown up, the Japanese and puppet troops will not be able to use trucks to transport troops and ammunition and medicine to Songshan.

After Dong Limao accepted the mission, he led more than 100 spies in the company, intending to bypass the Japanese army, but he encountered more than ten times more Japanese and puppet troops than the spys.

These Japanese and puppet troops did not take a car to move towards Songshan, but wanted to take a detour and quietly rush to Songshan. They did not expect to encounter Dong Limao's spy company at the Jinsha River location.

It was too dark and neither side could see each other clearly.

When the spy company arrived at the bridge of Taojin River, it almost mingled with the Japanese troops.

An officer from the puppet army asked: "Which part are you from?"

Zhang Dali also replied loudly: "We are from the spy company."

The officers of the puppet army did not react for a moment and continued to move forward, but Dong Limao came, but it was too late. The spy brothers almost mingled with the Japanese and puppet troops. He complained in his heart and quietly said to Zeng Zifan beside him: "If there is a Japanese army question, you can answer in Japanese."

Zeng Zifan didn't know that the spy company and the Japanese and puppet troops were mixed together, and asked inexplicably: "Company Commander, what are you answering?"

"We are mixed with the Japanese and puppet troops. If there is any question from the Japanese army, you will answer that we are the puppet troops rushing to assist Songshan." Dong Limao explained in a low voice.
