Chapter 1 Slave and Suffering

With the turbid air mixed with mud, feces, rotten food, when Corleon opened his eyes again, he found himself lying in this cold and wet cell, the stench that smelled even worse than a pigpen.

Staying in the cell with Corleon were dozens of teenagers, all of whom were as unclothed as him, with fear and helplessness in their eyes.

Corleon stood up and recalled the warmth of home, the poor but warm home...

With his mother's kind eyes, his father's figure farming on the fields, his brave and somewhat reckless brother, and his timid and fearful sister.

Then painful memories occupied Corleon's mind. On that night with the bitter north wind, a team of damn robbers, or more accurately, the slave hunting team, attacked their small village.

I recalled the burning straw hut, the roar of animals, the wail of villagers, and the tears on my sister's face in my last memory.

Corleon's father was an honest farmer on weekdays. When his family's life was threatened, he bravely picked up the pitchfork and pointed it at these bastards.

But the miracle did not happen. All the villagers who dared to resist were killed, and Corleon's father was shot through the chest by a sharp arrow.

At that moment, he felt as if the sky had collapsed. He had lost his perception of the outside world and could not hear any sound. He wanted to scream but could not make any sound.

It was as if a huge stone was pressing against his chest, making him breathless.

The remaining villagers were then handcuffed, like a group of cattle and sheep being rushed to the market.

Corleon's brother set out with some villagers yesterday morning to sell wheat at the market next door, so he escaped, but his mother, sister and himself were taken away.

At this moment, Corleon thought in his mind: Why did all this misfortune happen to them? Their family was just an honest and decent farmer who paid taxes to the nobles on time, but where was their noble master at this time?

You should know that there were no teams to rescue these poor people along the way. After dozens of days of long journey, their team grew stronger and stronger, and several small villages were attacked.

The leader of this slave hunting team is an ugly and fierce bald man with a long scar on his bare head.

The strong man often beat and scolded these villagers loudly, and his eyes looked like a wolf in the forest, greedy and cruel.

There are nearly hundreds of bald and strong men under their command, some of which are inhuman races.

Corleon heard the village chief tell stories about those non-human races, such as pointed-eared elves, tall and strong orcs, short dwarves, etc., and all kinds of strange things.

There are several black rat-man crossbowmen and a werewolf warrior in the slave hunting team, and their appearance is so frightening.

Everyone was taken to a town that was extremely prosperous for Corleon, after all, Corleon had never walked out of his small village, and this town was a "behemoth" to him.

The streets were crowded and bustling, but they were soon taken to a prison where slaves were placed.

Corleon's mother and sister were placed separately from him, and female slaves were often sold at the market more expensive, especially for women with good looks.

During the days in the cell, Corleon's mind kept rolling with the painful memories. He hadn't had a good sleep for a day and was constantly awakened by nightmares.

Opposite his cell were some adult men, some of whom were villagers in the village, and all of them looked desperate and numb.

On the fifth day, Corleon and many slaves were guarded to an empty square. When the sun was about to set, the square was filled with people.

Some of these people were dressed gorgeously and had big bellys, looking like nobles who had passed by their small village, and some women were graceful in shape, wearing veils and extremely explicit clothes.

In addition, there are many soldiers wearing black armor and holding spears on both sides to maintain discipline to prevent the slaves present from escaping.

Then a fat man who looked like a ball walked onto the newly built wooden platform, not knowing how these wooden boards bear his weight.

The fat man spoke in a strange tone and said, "Dear nobles and ladies, today the Hyena Chamber of Commerce will auction a batch of high-quality slaves."

"Some of them are farmers who are good at farming, some are skillful craftsmen, many beautiful girls, and various inhuman races. I hope everyone can support them."

At the beginning, dozens of older men were caught on stage, all of whom were farmers, and several of them were villagers known to Corleone.

However, the crowd below didn't seem to be interested in this. Few people bid and were eventually bought at the price of 3 gold coins of a farmer.

Then it was Corleone and the other teenagers who were rushed to the stage. The crowd below was a little excited. Many people were very interested in these young-faced teenagers on the stage to satisfy their evil desires.

However, Corleon was not selected because he was too thin. He breathed a sigh of relief and thought he had escaped, but what he didn't expect was a more tragic situation waiting for him.

Next, a large number of slaves were sold, and Corleon also saw a tall giant with gray skin.

Several iron rods were stabbed into the body of this giant, and then the big guy was controlled by chains connected to the iron rod. His selling price was close to the highest in the market, and 1,200 gold coins were sold.

The most valuable slave among them was a human woman. She looked weak, but the fat man was yelling about some magical talent.

The crowd below suddenly became excited, and the illusion of reserve was broken. These gorgeously dressed people quarreled with each other, and even fought.

In the end, the human girl was bought by a female nobleman for a high price of 2,000 gold coins.

However, Corleon was taken away by a bald old nobleman as a free gift. The nobleman bought hundreds of strong men because he ran several mines and needed a large number of miners.

After all, the lifespan of miners is too short and it will take a few years to consume a batch. Because no one cares about it, Corleon fell into the hands of this nobleman named Marcas.

Everyone was once again taken to Master Marcas' territory with handshakes and shackles.

In the gorgeous carriage, the bald old nobleman was chatting with the young woman sitting opposite him.

"Little Annie, you have to be considerate of your father. Because the mine has not made a good profit recently, your pocket money can only be temporarily cut off."

"How can that work! Look at Val, the ladies of the Sinalo family, are all wearing the latest dresses and the latest jewelry from the Baolai Jewelry Store. What about me?" The girl pouted and her eyes turned red.

"My clothes were from last quarter. How did I go out? I'm afraid they would be laughed to death."

"My dear little baby, I'm so sorry, but now is an extraordinary time. When our income returns to normal, I promise to give you more pocket money."

"Hmph, if you don't give it to me now, I can only ask my mother for it and let others know that you, an earl, have no money to buy clothes for your daughter." After that, she rolled her eyes.

Marcas quickly comforted his baby daughter and said to her: "Okay, okay, when I go back, I will increase the mining volume of these mines and ensure that you will be given enough pocket money by the end of this month. What do you think?"

"Hmph, this is almost the same." After saying that, the girl kissed his father's cheek lightly.
