Chapter 1166 Prime Minister(1/2)

Cabinet Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki tremblingly walked into the Imperial Shrine. In the dim candlelight, he saw Emperor Hirohito sitting in front of many memorial tablets.

Suzuki Kantaro put his crutches aside and walked forward with his waist bent.

After approaching the distance, he first bowed to the numerous tablets, then knelt on the ground and said to the thin figure in front of him:

"Your Majesty, it's time to leave the palace."

"Both the army and the people need you. Without you to boost the morale of the army, this homeland defense war will not be able to continue."

The thin Hirohito still sat motionless on the futon, as if dead, his body stiff.

Suzuki Kantaro believed that His Majesty the Emperor was just a little discouraged and would not commit suicide because of this. He pressed his forehead to the cold floor tiles, and suddenly a muffled thud was heard in the dark shrine.

After three muffled sounds, Hirohito finally turned around and said hoarsely:

"I'm sorry for my ancestors, and I'm sorry for millions of my subjects."

"My dear, why do you bother forcing me?"

With the bruise on his head, the old Kantaro Suzuki said:

"Your Majesty, the current situation is not your fault."

"It's the fault of the ministers. It's because we were too incompetent. It has nothing to do with His Majesty."

Emperor Hirohito sighed deeply.

In the flickering candlelight, he seemed to see his ancestors emerging from their seats one after another, looking at him with a look that looked down on their filial descendants.

Hirohito felt cold and stood up from the futon. He carried the memorial tablet and said to Kantaro Suzuki:

"Forget it, if the Empire of Japan is destroyed, my ancestors will never forgive me."

"My dear, please get up and I will go with you."

Suzuki Kantaro struggled to get up from the ground. He felt dizzy.

After walking out of the Royal Shrine, the blazing sun suddenly hit his face, and Hirohito squinted his eyes.

He did not wait for Suzuki Kantaro, who did not move, and went directly to the royal inner courtyard to freshen up.

Kantaro Suzuki saw Hirohito again in the combat command room of the base camp.

The situation has become increasingly serious in the past two days. Although the Zhongxia army has not made major strides forward, they are obviously accumulating strength. The feeling of waiting for the enemy to attack is too depressing.

The Americans may land at any time, and the empire faces the danger of fighting on two fronts.

The staff officers in the base camp were panicked and felt that they could not find a backbone.

When Hirohito walked into the base camp, he felt the eyes around him were full of respect and trust.

The officers seemed to be in high spirits because of their arrival.

Hirohito gradually understood his role, and he smiled bitterly in his heart.

It seems that it is impossible to completely relinquish power and escape responsibility.

A group of mid-level and senior staff officers saluted the emperor and then went back to their respective work.

Doihara Kenji came to Hirohito respectfully with a document and said carefully:

"Your Majesty, this is the radio speech prepared by the cabinet for you. Take a look. If there are no problems, the recording will start at noon."

Emperor Hirohito was not interested in looking at these things at the moment. He raised his head and asked:

"My dear friends, please report the situation to me first!"

Kenji Doihara took back the documents in his hand and asked someone to unfold a huge battle map in front of Emperor Hirohito.

He pointed at the map and said:

"Your Majesty, the guiding ideology of Operation Juhou has begun to take effect. With the cooperation of the civilian volunteers and the regular army, Zhongxia's landing force was restricted to a very narrow area and has not moved forward for three or four days.

It’s a kilometer away.”

"Currently they mainly occupy these places."

"The Central Xia army gathered together. If the empire's aviation force had not suffered heavy losses, a single air strike would have killed a thousand enemies!"

The well-educated Emperor Hirohito was able to understand military maps. He nodded and hummed, and the serious look on his face dissipated a little.

After figuring out the situation on the Western Front, he asked again:

"What about the Allied forces? What are they busy with during this time?"

Hearing this question, Suzuki Kantaro and Doihara Kenji were obviously startled.

The two looked at each other for a few times, and finally Suzuki Kantaro answered.

"Your Majesty, judging from the intelligence we have received, the Allied forces are preparing to land on the mainland of the empire."

"They prepared a battle plan for this, codenamed Operation Downfall!"

"It is initially estimated that at least 1 million naval, land and air forces will be invested, with the US military being the main force!"

Hirohito's arms were hidden under the table. When he heard the number 1 million, his hands under the table couldn't help but twitch a few times.

There was even a hint of panic in his eyes, which Kantaro Suzuki caught.

Suzuki Kantaro had completely given up on the delusion of seeking peace and decided to die together with the enemy. He comforted him by saying:

"But your Majesty, don't worry too much. Marshal Sugiyama's First General Army has made complete preparations."

"If the US military dares to land, the First General Army will guarantee that Kantung will become the second Okinawa, so that the US military will never come back!"

"Okay, okay..."

Hirohito no longer knew what to say, so he could only repeat the word mechanically.

..

October 5, General Staff Headquarters, Peking.

Jiang Dong and Xie Chengrui have left the Japanese battlefield and returned to Peking to control the overall situation at home and abroad.

On this morning, Jiang Dong had just finished listening to the latest frontline battle report, when Song Li, the director of the Military Intelligence Bureau, ran in excitedly to report.

"The Commander-in-Chief, the Chief of General Staff, and the Military Intelligence Bureau have obtained accurate information."

"Tonight, one million troops from Okinawa's allies will sail north on thousands of warships."

"MacArthur and Nimitz will launch Operation Downfall by tomorrow morning at the latest!"

The Military Intelligence Bureau has always been aware of the movements of the Allied forces. Jiangdong naturally knew that MacArthur was preparing for the landing battle.

Although he had expected it, he was still slightly moved when he heard the news.

"Lao Xie, it seems that our wish to monopolize the Japanese country cannot be realized." Jiang Dong sighed.

Xie Chengrui blinked,

"Young devil, this piece of fat meat is not so delicious. If you are not careful, you will burn your mouth and chip your teeth."

"Old Song, how are the preparations of the Allied Forces? Are they ready?"

Song Li carefully thought about the information he had received these days and said:

"It's not perfect, but it's almost there."

"MacArthur and Nimitz learned the lessons from the Battle of Okinawa, and this time they prepared to learn from the Army of the Republic and use airborne troops to cooperate with ground troops."

"The artillery preparation before landing is the key. All battleships in the Pacific region are present!"

Xie Chengrui glanced at Jiang Dong and said slightly surprised:

"So the Eastern Front of the little devil is going to be lively too."

Jiang Dong discovered that Song Li did not report a problem.

So where will the Allied forces land?

Song Li felt a little ashamed,

"Commander-in-Chief, the landing location is top secret and we don't know it yet."

Jiang Dong did not embarrass Song Li and said:

"It doesn't matter. We'll find out tomorrow. You can go on and do your work!"

Regardless of whether the Japanese really intend to resist to the end, and they conscientiously implement the 100 million jade plan, after the Allied forces land, and the east and west fronts advance at the same time, Japan's demise is already a certainty.

After knowing the military aspects well, Jiangdong left the General Staff Headquarters and returned to his office.

After becoming the Prime Minister of the country, the Secretariat has been upgraded to the General Office.

Tang Yun was appointed as the director of the general office, and Jillian became Jiangdong's personal secretary.

Jiangdong now not only has to deal with military issues, but also cares about all aspects of domestic affairs.

Without the help of the general office, he would be overwhelmed by the overwhelming military and political affairs.

At noon on the 5th, Vice Premier Wang Xueqin and Ding Beifeng held a small meeting with Jiang Dong.

Free education and currency reform have been fully implemented.
