Chapter 1146: The End of the Road (Last Part)(2/2)

On September 18, more than 100,000 Allied troops marched together toward the northern end of Okinawa.

There are only the last 10 kilometers left to the northern coastline. At the current speed of advancement, the Allies are sure to end this hellish battle within three days.

The Battle of Okinawa was a nightmare that would linger throughout their lives for every soldier who participated.

Victory was in sight, but the Allies did not dare to relax their vigilance, and were cautious every step forward.

Fire-breathing tanks were at the forefront, spraying burning napalm into collapsed caves and bunkers.

The soldiers who followed could hear inhuman howls coming from the caves and bunkers.

Those were wounded Japanese soldiers. They had no ability to fight back and had no chance to escape. They were possessed by napalm and died in the most painful way.

The Mowenren area is the last line of defense of Japan's 32nd Army. This line of defense is built on more than a dozen hills and has complete underground passages and stretching bunkers.

However, under the attack of ground-penetrating bombs and large-caliber naval guns, the geographical shape of the Mowenren area was completely different from that shown on the map.

The geography has been reshaped, and the hills have turned into crumbling stone mountains.

When the US military advanced to Mowenren, no Japanese soldiers were seen.

The ruins of the war were filled with ragged and skinny local civilians.

Most of them are women, and there is something special in their empty eyes.

The advancing soldiers stopped, and for a moment they didn't know whether to continue advancing or retreat.

Brainwashed civilians also posed huge dangers, and the soldiers did not approach them easily.

When the situation on the front line reached Nimitz and MacArthur, MacArthur, who was already impatient, ordered:

"Keep moving forward. If you encounter resistance, no matter whether the opponent is a soldier or a civilian, you will be killed without mercy!"

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

MacArthur's order had not yet reached the frontline troops, but the sound of trumpets suddenly sounded in the sky above the Mowenren area.

The civilians who heard the strange horn sound helped them to their feet and formed a moving human wall, slowly approaching the soldiers.

The Garand semi-automatic rifle was fully loaded with bullets, but he did not dare to pull the trigger.

The soldiers looked at each other, wondering what to do.

During the hesitation, a large number of civilians came within a hundred meters.

"Grenade!"

"Grenade!"

"Grenade!"

The soldier with good eyesight suddenly saw the grenade-like object looming in the hands of the civilians and shouted.

I heard bursts of clattering sounds, and the soldiers raised their guns in unison.

The strange horn sound suddenly became urgent, and the eyes of the civilians who were so thin that they would fall down when the wind blew suddenly gleamed.

They wanted to run, but due to lack of food and water for a long time, their bodies lost control after they tried to stretch their legs, and everyone in the front row fell down.

The grenade was completely exposed, and the soldiers continued to fire without mercy.

The fallen people had lost their minds and had only one thought in their minds, which was to pull the strings and throw the thunder.

The distance was very far, the grenade exploded in the crowd, and the sky was filled with blood.

The soldiers lay on the ground in panic, shooting randomly and screaming.

Civilians holding grenades continued to fall, and blood and human tissue were flying all over the sky.

The soldiers who claimed to be from a free country had never seen such a bloody and terrifying image. Many of them were shocked at first, and then had mental problems and went crazy.

What kind of brainwashing can make a person drag his tired and hungry body to attack the enemy amidst the flying shrapnel and blood rain?

Not a single grenade was thrown into the American ranks.

The hellish scene had just calmed down, and the last six thousand Japanese soldiers fought their way out of the bloody storm.

"Onboard!"

"Onboard!"

The soldiers carried and trampled the corpses of the people, walked through the gurgling blood, and plunged their bayonets into the chests of the American soldiers while roaring.

Ushijima Mitsuru knew that after this counterattack, he had reached the end of his rope.

When the people fired grenades, Ushijima was sitting in the cave tunnel numbered 89.

He had taken off his military uniform and put on a warrior uniform.

There is a pot of sake and five or six wine glasses on the small table in front of you.

Major General Sekiya and several other senior generals drank the last glass of wine with Ushijima Mitsuru.

Ushijima Mitsuru committed suicide by caesarean section with the imperial-given sword, and the chief of staff, Major General Sekiya, cut off his head himself.

Other officers followed Ushijima Mitsuru away, and Cave No. 89 was quickly filled with the smell of blood.

After Major General Guangu disposes of the body of His Excellency, he will be the only living person in the entire cave.

The sound of gunfire and shouts of death outside reached its climax.

Turning a blind eye to the corpses on the ground, Major General Sekiya grabbed the sake on the table and drank it down.

He walked out of Cave No. 89 carrying the bloody command knife.

There are still lightly wounded people lying in wait in other tunnels and caves, with grenades hanging on their chests and explosives around them.

As long as there is an enemy approaching, these wounded will die with them without hesitation.

Arriving at a cave in the rear, Major General Sekiya saw thousands of seriously injured people.

The seriously injured were moaning in pain, and many of them were unconscious.

Seeing the appearance of the Chief of Staff, the military doctor Colonel seemed to understand something.

He took off his military cap and asked:

"Your Excellency, Chief of Staff, I would like to inject these wounded with morphine so that they can walk more peacefully."

The 32nd Army seized a large amount of morphine from the battlefield. Other drugs were in short supply, and morphine was indeed abundant.

Major General Guangu knew what the military doctor meant and nodded.

"Let me help you!"

At that moment, they began to inject large amounts of morphine into the seriously wounded.

The painful moans in the cave became less and less until there were no more.

After doing all this, Major General Guam, chief of staff of the 32nd Japanese Army, threw away his command knife and committed suicide by taking poison.
