Chapter 8 Life in Knockturn Alley
The next morning, the Fleys made up as before.
Mr. Fry raised his eyebrows at Brian with smugness, and the expression on Mrs. Fry's face was natural and nothing seemed to have happened.
"Betty, do you want to travel to Greece?" Mr. Fly said with a smile. "Without the little follower Brian, it must be very romantic. I happened to be free recently."
Mrs. Fley's face turned slightly red. She thought for a while and said, "But Brian..."
"Oh, don't worry, he knocked you down last night." Mr. Foley said, "Bojin has a vow to restrain him, and there is no big mistake."
"Yes, mom, you guys go on a trip." Brian said with a smile.
"Okay, then." Mrs. Fley raised her chin slightly, "If you have anything, let the owl write us."
Brian nodded.
After they finished their breakfast, Brian packed up some alchemy ingredients, sprinkled a handful of Flood powder in the fireplace, and stepped into the flying flames.
"Flip the alley." Brian said clearly.
He flew through the green flames, passed the furnace doors, and stepped out of his destination.
The shop in front of him was spacious but dark. Brian used a cleaning spell to clean the ashes on his body. At this time, Mr. Bojin also turned out from the back room. He whispered: "Ah, welcome, Master Fley. Please come with me."
Brian followed him slowly into the back room and walked forward in the dark corridor, Bojin said some precautions in his low and slick tone.
"First of all, Master Fly, have you solved the problem of Zhisi?"
"Of course, it's solved." Brian nodded slightly, "Just call me Brian."
"Very good, Brian. You know, the zuns are not popular in this place," said Mr. Bojin. "Then, what you have to do is simple. You just need to be a clerk at the front desk to ensure the transaction is going on."
"In return, you can read the books here." Mr. Bojin opened a door, and inside it was a large study room with dense collections of books, almost all about alchemy, "rubbings and circumcisions are not allowed."
"Of course, I'm willing to answer some of your doubts in my spare time," he added.
"Okay, Mr. Bojin, thank you very much." Brian nodded and looked at the collection of books in the study room with bright eyes.
"So, let's talk about what you need to pay attention to." Bojin said in his slick tone, and they slowly returned to the store.
"Don't touch the things in the store casually, you will not be responsible if you hit the curse." He said slowly, "You can sell these gadgets, and the price is on top, so you don't bargain. If you encounter someone who is stubborn, you can throw them out."
"Of course, if it's these things..." Bojin pointed to the opal necklace and the alchemy items in a large area around it. "If customers want to buy them, you ring the bell behind the counter and I'll deal with it myself."
"How about it, can you handle it?" Bojin stared straight at Brian with slightly cloudy eyes.
"Yes, it's not too difficult." Brian said lightly.
"Very good. If you want to go out and do whatever you want, you can do it," Bojin added, "as long as you don't leave it for too long. There is not that much business in the store."
"But please don't do dangerous black magic experiments in the store. If an accident occurs, you need to compensate for the losses." He said slickly, "Of course, I'm sorry I won't pay you a little wage, if you can accept it."
"Of course, Mr. Bojin, I've got what I need." Brian smiled politely.
"Then you can get familiar with the environment and products in the store first." Bojin nodded.
For the rest of the time, Brian walked around the back room, where there were not many rooms, only a large study, an alchemy workshop, a utility room and a simple living room.
He was familiar with the goods in the store, most of them were not that dangerous. Many of them were just cursed, but the quality was very good.
Of course, the most important thing is those very strange items. Not to mention the very dangerous necklace, like a stack of blood-stained cards placed behind the glass counter, it can ensure that the holder will win every bet, but it is easy to suffer disaster.
There is also a stagnant glass eyeball, which according to Mr. Bojin, has a perspective effect. In addition, there are ferocious masks hanging on the wall, sharp-toothed instruments hanging from the ceiling and long nooses, and a large black cabinet in the corner.
As Bryan looked at the withered hand, Bojin excitedly introduced him to this interesting thing.
"The hand of gloriousness, insert a candle, and only those holding it can see the light." Bojin grinned, "It is the best friend of the thief and the robber!"
"There is no doubt that it is very rare, and there is only one left here." Bojin said, "cut off the right hand of the thief who was hanged and wrapped and soaked in Mandela grass. But nowadays, the raw materials are becoming less and less."
"It's very interesting." Brian looked at the withered hand quietly.
"Of course, if you want to buy it, I can give you some discounts." Mr. Bojin said.
"Let's talk about it." Brian pondered. The effect of this thing really made him feel a little moved.
At noon, Brian went to Diagon Alley for lunch and officially started his life at Bojin-Bock Store.
He sat behind the counter, opened an alchemy book screened in the study and read it seriously.
More than a month before school starts, with Brian's memory level that he never forgets, this period is enough for him to fully understand most of the books he collects here.
No matter what Bojin is thinking, he must have never thought that Brian had such a strong memory ability. Perhaps his old secrets that he had collected for many years would be given to Brian for free.
When studying, Brian would also note down his questions and ask Mr. Bojin when he came out to wander around. In any case, Bojin is indeed a powerful alchemy master. Although he prefers to make black magic items, this reflects his level of alchemy, because the production of black magic items is always more dangerous and difficult.
Brian's work seemed very leisurely. As the largest shop in the Overturned Alley, there were not many customers in Bojin-Bock store because the items in the store were really expensive.
During the day, he would sit behind the counter and read books, occasionally dealing with customers who came in to see the goods. Most of them only read but not buy them, and Brian let them walk around.
Those wizards who really want to buy goods are also very happy to pay, and they almost all know the rules in the store. There are many sneaky guys, and a few of them make Brian suspect that they are not humans, because they stick out sharp claws from under the cloak when they pay. Some customers even stink their bodies hidden under the cloak, making a chewing sound.
At the same time, the news that a young clerk from Bojin Boke Store quickly spread throughout the alley, attracting many bad guys.
It is indeed common for customers with unclean hands and feet to try to steal goods in the overturned alley. Brian elegantly and politely calculated the price for the customers, and threw the thief who could not afford the price out of the door with a smile.
Of course, there are also guys who bullied Brian who wanted to buy and sell forcibly, but they were knocked unconscious by Brian and threw them outside the store. Those guys would be carried away by wandering wizards soon. As for what their ending would be like, it is not within Brian's consideration.
Through the gray window, he looked at the narrow and dim alley outside the door, and couldn't help but think about whether Tom Riddle was the same when he was internship here.
“Clean up!”
Brian waved his wand and cleaned the dusty window clean and transparently, then he lowered his head to continue reading with satisfaction.
Every noon, Brian would go to Diagon Alley next door for lunch, where there were several delicious restaurants.
Of course, he had to be alert to stealing or robbery on the road, and the chaotic tumbling alley was like this. As a little wizard who seemed weak, Brian quickly accumulated practical experience these days and became more and more comfortable in dealing with it.
He would hang the person who provoked him with the kyphosis curse and then slowly leave the scene. He had learned this silent curse, and it was obviously of great use.
In the evening, Brian would go home directly through Flourish. After eating the dinner carefully prepared by the house elf, he would lock himself in the room to practice his newly mastered alchemy techniques.
In this way, his alchemy level continued to improve and he got rid of his predicament.
A rumor soon spread in the overturned alley: I can't mess with the little wizard who seems to be unable to beat anyone.
Brian's life has become much more peaceful.
Overall, the days here are not that bad.
