Chapter 2 The only light in the boundless darkness

If Kesha is more sensitive to the temperature of the human body, she will find that Kane is actually still alive.

Children are children after all, and they don’t notice these details, and their shaken fate is put back on track.

"Help, my legs are crushed by stones..."

Kesha was soon attracted by the cry of others, leaving Kane's "corpse" and searching for other survivors in the dark.

But the more survivors she contacted, the more desperate she became. None of these people were as lucky as her. They were either buried in the ruins and could not be dug out, or they broke their bones and internal organs when they fell.

No one she could save. Seeing these lives gradually fade, Kesha was both desperate and confused.

"Mom, where are you? Who will save me..." Seeing familiar people turn into cold corpses, the girl sobbed helplessly.

When Kane walked away, she opened her mouth and gasped.

The pain in the lungs just now has aggravated, and every breath now causes severe pain.

In the end, his consciousness was dispersed by waves of pain and completely fainted.

...

When Kane woke up again, the first thing he felt was not pain, but hunger.

"How long have I fainted...Is it still time?"

He began to be afraid that he would miss his only chance of life, but fortunately, there were still weak crys for help not far away.

"Fortunately, if someone is alive, it means Kesha is still there."

Kesha would wait until three days later when she was the only one left in the ruins, and decided to leave here and explore the crises of the underground world.

The roads in the underground world are complicated, and Kane must follow her before she leaves, otherwise it will be difficult to meet her again.

But now, he has to find some food to fill his stomach first, otherwise he will not have the strength to deal with the next danger.

The wound no longer hurts so much, and the blood flowing from the top of the head has condensed. During the coma, the injuries in the chest seemed to have recovered a little, and Kane is now able to barely stand up and walk.

The underground world is dim and dull, and the huge wounds after the sinking are re-blocked.

Even a trace of sun and moon glow will not be projected above, and there will naturally be no light source below.

In this darkness where he could not see his fingers, he could only rub forward on the ground step by step. When he touched something, he leaned down and groped to tell whether it was a rock or something.

Although he knew that there would be no monsters in the ruins and did not have to face the fear brought by the unknown, he still felt palpitations when he occasionally encountered a corpse.

He found a water bag in the ruins, immediately opened the sore drink, irrigating the bloody throat. Then he found some jerky and peaches.

Logically speaking, extremely perishable juicy fruits must always be eaten first, but thinking that Kaisha likes to eat peaches, Kane stuffed the jerky into his mouth first.

In fact, it doesn’t matter if these peaches eventually rot. As long as your mind is conveyed, Kesha will no longer have to take nutrients from these foods, and she will not even need to eat with her mouth.

Kane continued to collect some food and a spear. He wrapped the food with the cloth bag he found and carried it across his shoulders. He also grabbed the spear tightly with both hands to support it on the ground, which was a weapon.

Then he began to search for Kesha.

The ruins formed by the fall of the entire village are quite large, but Kane is not so stupid that he drags his weak body to walk around the entire village in the dark.

He groped in the place where there was a cry for help, and it didn't take long to find Kaisha.

There was a rustling sound in the darkness. Kesha was trying to dig out the survivor who was calling for help with both hands, but she couldn't move the squeezed heavy rocks, kneeled on the ground and said sorry while crying.

"Save some strength, silly girl."

Kane's lips moved and finally made no sound.

He lay down on the spot, trying not to make any noise, he still needs more rest, but he hopes Kesha can stop and rest.

He quietly took out a round peach from the package, which felt a plush feel to the touch.

The young Keisha has no sense of searching for food. Now she needs the sense of security brought by companionship, rather than the dispensable feeling of fullness. Her fear of darkness has made her feel hungry.

But hunger can really defeat a person.

Kane gently placed the peach on the ground and pushed it towards Kasha.

Peach rolled down the slopes piled up by the ruins and finally hit Kesha's ankle.

"Who?" Kaisha was startled and screamed. Her tired spirit tensed at this moment. She took out a dagger and gestured randomly in the darkness, as if some monster would knock her down.

But after finding no response, she lowered her head in disappointment and went to pick up foreign objects at her feet.

"Peach?" With his familiarity with this fruit, Kesha found out what it was as soon as she started.

Peaches are her favorite food. When she thinks of the sweet taste, her dry mouth immediately secretes saliva.

Hunger was awakened, and without the command of the brain, the body moved directly.

She wiped the dust on the peel with her hands, blew it up again, and opened her mouth and ate it in one bite.

But with the sweet juice coming out, are those sweet memories that can no longer be reproduced.

She could no longer eat the dishes cooked by her mother, nor could she hear her father telling him about his travels by the bed, and also gifts that could bring surprises every birthday...

Everything I once had seemed to be gone forever, and salty tears flowed into the corners of my mouth again. Kesha ate and cried, and she could taste different despair in every mouthful.

Cold, lonely, dark...

Kane heard her crying silently, and was flooded by the trapped tide.

Kaisha fell asleep, and Kane felt a little relieved. He closed his eyes and went into a shallow sleep, waiting silently to witness the turning point of her fate.

Survivors were still calling each other weakly, repeating their names over and over again like chanting scriptures. Kesha still tried to find a living person after waking up, even in the end she knew she was doing useless work.

Kane quietly followed Kaisha for three days until the end of the ruins was only her own voice.

All friends and family were gone, leaving her alone in the darkness.

The girl who shed tears was driven by hunger and echoed on the ruins like a walking corpse.

It was at the moment when all of this had fallen, that she saw the light.

I saw the long-lost light in this endless cold darkness!

With unknown expectations, Kasha's floating legs surged out of strength again. She followed the light and kept going down.

Kane was still quietly following Kesha in a place invisible to her.

Even if he knew what kind of terrifying thing was hidden behind the light, he could only drag his disabled body to the point of hardening.
