73. Broken light

Winnie was not only considerate but also faster and acted quickly. Chamberlain decided to follow her arrangements to move. She immediately called and contacted the Auckland branch of Mayflower Moving Company and found a Dongfeng van.

Mayflower Moving Company is the largest moving company in the United States. It is named Mayflower, which means it is related to a historic event in American history. In 1620 AD, 102 devout Christians from the British Empire rode a small fishing boat to North America across the ocean. The ship they were on at that time was Mayflower.

In a sense, the great America was indeed born from the British to America by a small Mayflower ship. It is very appropriate to use this name to be a moving company. Moreover, since its birth, the Mayflower Moving Company has developed rapidly. Now it has its own branches in 52 states in the United States, with more than twenty branches in California, and almost every slightly larger city has their own branches.

Seeing the van painted with the Mayflower fishing boat arrived, Chamberlain admired it very much and asked Winnie: "Is your phone the pocket of Dingdang Cat? There are all kinds of phones! One phone number, I found the rental villa, the other phone number, and I found the moving company..."

Winnie said lightly: "No, there are only a dozen phone numbers stored in my phone, but my phone can be accessed online, Google it online, and there are all kinds of phones."

The flattery hit the horse's legs, and Chamberlain laughed dryly and touched his nose awkwardly. This flattery was too inaccurate and did not show Winnie's awesomeness, but instead lowered his IQ.

The doorbell rang, and Chamberlain hurried to open the door. He thought the moving company's workers had come up, but he opened the door. A girl in a pink dress was blinking her big eyes and smiling at him, holding a takeaway box in her hand.

"Mr. Z, this is the cod burger, Russian sausage and hot drink you ordered." The girl stood at the door in a pretty face, her delicate figure stood tall and graceful. From the side, she looked beautiful, pure and full of vitality, like a little snow deer jumping out of the snow field.

Unfortunately, the birthmark that was as big as a palm on her cheek was too eye-catching and destroyed all the beauty. However, the girl was very sunny and did not escape because of this. Instead, she opened her hair behind her head to a golden ponytail, which was playful and charming.

"Thank you, thank you." Chamberlain said thanking repeatedly. The girl's takeout was delivered quickly enough. He took the takeout and signaled the girl to come into the house and pay with him. The girl hesitated for a moment and asked, "Can I go in?"

Chamberlain shrugged, thinking that the girl was worried about what she did to her. American men are not as heroic as they are portrayed in Hollywood blockbusters, especially in slums. A strange girl is easily violated, especially in other people's homes.

The girl walked into the room with her hands behind her back, and her careful appearance made Chamberlain unable to help but think of the cubs in the animal world who had preyed for the first time.

Winnie was still standing at the window. When the girl entered the door, she took a casual look, and then a hint of amazement flashed in her eyes, as if she had seen a beautiful work of art. She couldn't help but ask: "Hi, GIRL, what's your name? It's so beautiful."

The girl smiled slightly, and the sun seemed to hang on her pretty face, which was dazzling: "My name is Shirley Dia, sister, you can call me Shirley."

Someone knocked on the door again. It was the moving company that came. Seeing the worker with the 'May Flower' logo printed on the clothes, the girl was shocked and asked with wide eyes: "Are you moving away?"

Chamberlain bit the Russian red sausage and said vaguely: "Yes, I'm going to move out, what's wrong?"

A trace of gloom flashed in the girl's big eyes, and she still smiled and said, "It's nothing. You are a big star. You are indeed not suitable to live in a place like Soul Ballet. Congratulations on jumping out of this hell."

"Actually, this place is pretty good." Chamberlain sighed. Although he has not lived here for a long time, the most precious time in his life should have been this period. He has gone from a waste with nothing to a highly favored NBA potential superstar.

Shirley smiled and said nothing. Chamberlain gave her two hundred dollars. Fast food was not worth much, mainly because people delivered the goods to their doorstep, so they had to tip.

Seeing the workers starting to pack up, Shirley hesitated before leaving the door and asked expectantly: "Will you come back?"

Chamberlain nodded and said, "Maybe."

In fact, he and Sardmons didn't have many things here. The house was only rented for a month. Except for some clothes, shoes and laptops, the other furniture belonged to the landlord. Chamberlain called the landlord and told him to move out. The landlord rushed over in a hurry, not because he was worried that Chamberlain would move out his furniture. In fact, it was ragged here, and nothing could make Chamberlain fall in love with him. He came to ask Chamberlain for autograph and take a photo.

Chamberlain paid the rent for three months at a time and left like this, and was still a little reluctant to leave. However, when he thought of a villa to live in, he became excited again. He lived in slums since he was a child, and had instinctive expectations for luxury residences such as villas and duplex apartments.

Winnie was driving, and Chamberlain thought about it and decided to do a Land Rover. Although it was a bit dangerous, the car was much more comfortable than the van behind.

Sardmons also came back and got on the Land Rover. He was not very happy. Before leaving, he took a few photos of the temporary residence with his mobile phone and sighed to Chamberlain: "Z, I know you will change to a big house, but I didn't expect it to be so soon."

Chamberlain was surprised and asked, "Are you unhappy?"

Sardmons shrugged indifferently and said, "Unhappy, this place is very close to the event center of N.G.O. It will take a lot of time to go back and forth after moving to the cliff house."

The place where Chamberlain moved this time was at the junction of San Francisco and Oakland. It was a sea view villa, which was quite high-end and was named Cliff House. The name of Cliff House is related to a restaurant on the cliff by the sea. This restaurant was built in 1858 and has undergone 5 reconstructions since the beginning and is well-known in the San Francisco area.

The cliff house turned out to be a barren beach. Around 1850, a wealthy former *** elder from Maine, Samuel Brannan, bought a boat for $1,500 to salvage the sunken wood under the basalt cliffs and built the first generation cliff hut from that batch. Later, it was converted into a restaurant, and as its reputation grew, it is now part of the Golden Gate National Scenic Area and managed by the U.S. National Park Service.

The Cliff House Villa Area is built with the Cliff House Restaurant as the core. Each villa here faces the sea. When you open the window, you can enjoy the humid and refreshing sea breeze and watch the majestic waves. Below the villa is the most beautiful beach in San Francisco, Golden Gate Beach.

The car drove all the way, Winnie maintained the proper speed, and Chamberlain's heart slowly let go. They turned a small road from Fifth Street in Auckland, which according to the on-board GPS, was closer to the cliff house.

Not long after the car drove onto the road, at an intersection, Winnie stopped the car. Chamberlain looked forward and found a striking red light on the intersection, but there were no pedestrians around the intersection. They waited for a while, but there were still no pedestrians, and the red light was still on.

Chamberlain mumbled and jumped out of the car and prepared to turn off the light.

This kind of light is rare in China, but it is very common in the United States, especially in California. It is called a stop sign light, which is generally used for intersections with fewer people. The United States has developed highways, but not every road has many vehicles passing by, and some roads do not have a few people passing by in a day. In this way, it is unnecessary to set up traffic lights at intersections. Stop sign lights were born in this context.

The parking sign light is a bit similar to the commonly used double-biter power supply consolidation in the corridor. It has buttons on both sides of the intersection. In this way, if pedestrians want to pass through the intersection, they can press the switch, and then the red light at the intersection is lit, and all cars stop. Press the switch after passing the intersection, and the red light will go out.

For example, this kind of parking sign light is a kind of artificially controlled traffic light, which is very convenient and practical, but has high requirements for users' quality. There are many people in California who just light the red light and then ignore it. Of course, there are also some psychopaths who will destroy the buttons after lighting the red light.

Chamberlain encountered such a thing today. He ran around the intersection, but both buttons broke, making him furious.

He walked back in disappointment, explained the situation with Winnie and the transport company driver, took out his cell phone and called the Highway Administration, told them the address, asked them to repair it, and then squatted on the side of the road to wait.

The driver of Mayflower Transportation Company said: "Mr. Z, why are we staying here? Isn't it okay to drive over directly? Anyway, there is no one at the intersection now."

Chamberlain sighed: "Man, we have to follow the traffic rules. Regardless of whether there are people at the intersection or not, now that the parking sign light is on, our cars cannot pass."

The driver looked at Chamberlain with an idiot-looking look and asked, "Are you serious?"

Chamberlain looked at him impatiently and said, "I know what you mean, brother, but the rules are formulated not only to be implemented when someone monitors it, but when no one monitors it, we should follow it."

"But now it's not because of our reasons, but because there is a problem with the parking sign light. Why do we have to pay the bill?" the driver shouted with some dissatisfaction, "Our time is precious."

Winnie rolled down the car window and said coldly: "We will pay you according to the time. You don't have to worry about this, you can't be one hundred and twenty dollars an hour, right?"

The driver had nothing to say, muttered twice in black slang, and then returned to the car helplessly.

After waiting for about ten minutes, another car drove over, it was an Audi A6L. Chamberlain thought it was a repairman, but when he saw that the model was obviously not.

When the Audi owner saw the parking sign light on, he stopped the car. Seeing that there was no one at the intersection, he got out of the car and asked Chamberlain who was squatting on the ground, "Man, what's going on?"

Chamberlain said depressedly: "The parking sign light is broken and the light is on. I have called the Highway Administration and they should come to repair it soon."

The man was shocked and asked, "Then are we waiting here all the time?"

Chamberlain nodded and said helplessly: "This is indeed the traffic rules."

"How long have you been here? Ask me a little more, are you the Warriors' super center SUPER-Z?"

"It should be." Chamberlain responded listlessly, so the owner got out of the car and politely invited him to stand at the intersection to take a photo together.
