Chapter 203 The Actor Partner
As early as the filming of "Schindler's List", Stephen Spielberg made up his mind to create his own film company and soon found a partner. He co-founded DreamWorks with David Geffen and Jerefer Carsonberg, who was ambitious to make it a new highlight in Hollywood.
DreamWorks and Jenkins Pictures are completely different. The latter started out as a share of accounts, and its future development is still a share of accounts. Ryan did not have the idea of breaking the monopoly of the seven major film companies. The former has been aimed at the position of Hollywood giants since its establishment.
After more than a year of establishment, DreamWorks has not been in a hurry to start its own production plan. The three giants are all the best among the humans, and understand the importance of laying a solid foundation.
In the second half of 1995, Stephen Spielberg received a package from Australia, signed by Ryan Jenkins, the super genius who had disappeared from the public for a long time.
The things in the package are not complicated, a book, a script, and a stack of setting drawings.
After watching it, Spielberg took a moment to make a break in the "Broken Lock Tide", which had not yet begun to be prepared, and changed the first movie of DreamWorks to "Cat and Mouse Game".
DreamWorks needs a successful pioneering work, whether it is the former bestseller or the script of Ryan Jenkins, it is so in line with his appetite, and the suggestions are very pertinent. Although they want to share the accounts with Jenkins Pictures, Spielberg chose the movie and started the busy preliminary preparations after contacting Tom Hanks.
"Ryan, I noticed this book a long time ago, but I didn't expect you to start earlier." Spielberg looked at the young man in front of him. His height was far higher than himself. The ignorant boy when he first met him grew up, "Tell me the truth, Ryan, have you planned this role long ago?"
"Stephen, you're still that wise." Ryan quipped compliment him. "So that."
This is the old Ontario Airport in California. After some modification, it has become Miami International Airport from the outside. The crew of "Cat and Mouse Game" will officially start filming here.
"May I wonder, did I miss something?"
Outside the lounge, a kind voice sounded. Tom Hanks walked in, "Hi, Ryan, it's really been a long time since we met."
"Tomy, your weight gain is very successful." Ryan hugged him gently.
Tom Hanks' appearance has changed a lot, and he has become much fatter than Forrest Gump's style. If it weren't for the iconic bun face, he could have been regarded as a fat middle-aged uncle.
"I remember someone said that when I'm at a disadvantage in IQ, you'll be better than him in weight." After the three of them greeted him, Tom Hanks sat down, "It's definitely a price to catch a genius."
The three of them laughed at the same time. They will form the most core lineup of the movie.
"Ryan, I have always owe you thanks. Without Forrest Gump you recommended..." Tom Hanks said extremely solemnly, "There is no second best actor, Little Golden Man."
"You're welcome, this is what you deserve."
The Oscar in 1995 was just like before. His "Forrest Gump" swept the award ceremony, and "The Shawshank Redemption" became a tragedy again. Tom Hanks won the second best actor.
Of course, if there were no unexpected or extremely breakthrough performances, the Oscar Best Actor will be insulated from Tom Hanks from now on.
"Okay. Gentlemen, you should go on makeup." Spielberg looked at the time and urged.
After changing into the straight Pan American airline pilot uniform, Ryan walked out of the temporary rented old airport and could vaguely see the periphery of the shooting site. Many reporters gathered, and sometimes flashes might turn on.
The classic cars of the 1960s with different styles filled the wide roads in front of the airport, and the extras and road signs that acted as backgrounds were replaced with costumes that matched that era. A sprinkler truck slowly drove by, pouring the ground into a wet area.
"Ryan, many people will envy you."
The photography director was Jaminz Kaminsky, an important member of Spielberg's team. At this time, he came to joke with Ryan.
"Actually, I envy Mr. Frank Abagoner even more."
Looking at the fashionable beauties dressed in flight attendants, Ryan could only shake his head. The first shot of the camera was when he escaped from Miami International Airport under the cover of a group of fake flight attendants.
These girls are also very professional actors. They walked with Ryan several times and tried it out twice. After a simple trial, the official filming of "Cat and Mouse Game" kicked off.
"The first act of the seventy-seventh scene begins now!"
With Spielberg's assistant shouting, the scene was silent in an instant.
A luxurious red and white RV parked in front of the airport lobby, and several stewardesses in blue uniforms came out one after another. Ryan was wearing a straight pilot uniform, with sunglasses on his nose, and two tall blond girls with blue eyes, walked into the hall in a daze.
Entering the hall, he pushed the two sexy and beautiful fake flight attendants to the front without any trace to attract attention, while he quietly landed behind. Even though he was in crisis, his face was still full of confidence.
The FBI agents who passed by, the police guarding the airport's main roads, and the plainclothes shuttled back and forth, seemed to have even been caught by the young and beautiful girls, and did not notice that the retaliatory criminals they were looking for were mixed with these flight attendants.
"cut, it's past."
Although this is the team leader's lens, it is not very difficult. Spielberg's voice soon came from behind the main camera.
"You look in a good shape, Ryan."
Tom Hanks had already changed into an agent suit, was wiping his glasses in his hand, and joked, "It's time for us to play the cat and mouse game."
"God, I'm facing two-time Okas Best Actor winner..." Ryan deliberately used an exaggerated tone, "I hope that when the movie is released, the audience will not regard me as a crappy boy."
"That depends on your performance." Spielberg suddenly spoke, "Ryan, I still remember your performance when filming "Schindler's List", which was so amazing."
"Actually, we are all waiting to watch you two perform..." Jaminz Kaminsky shouted from not far away, which attracted many people to start joking.
The crew quickly moved to the upstream channel of the airport. After the departments were ready, Spielberg made a gesture.
"The first act of the eighty-fifth scene begins!"
In the empty passage, Frank, played by Ryan, was wearing a uniform and carrying a suitcase, and walked towards the freedom of hope, but his face lacked the confidence he used to be, and with a little uneasy expression, he handed his hand into his pocket.
"How did you do it?"
The voice of the familiar FBI agent came from behind him, and he could only turn around in a hurry. Although Agent Carl was asking questions, there was no doubt on his face, "Frank, how did you pass the Louisiana bar exam?"
"What are you doing here?" His voice was extremely guilty, "I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble."
"If you return to Europe, you will definitely die in prison!" Agent Carl's words were more of a piece of advice, just like an elder teaching the younger generation, "Frank, if you want to escape from the United States, we will send you to the prison in Atlanta for 50 years!"
"I know."
Frank made up his mind, his desire for freedom overwhelmed everything, and walked forward without looking back. Agent Carl behind him was still talking endlessly, and his words obviously shook Frank's determination.
"Why do you want to help me?" Frank did not look back.
"You're just a child." Agent Carl's words pointed directly into Frank's heart.
"I'm not your child."
He was obviously angry because Agent Carl had deceived him and it felt so bad that no one could trust, but Carl was indeed helping him. Frank finally stopped and fell into hesitation as he watched the boarding pass in his hand.
"cut!" Spielberg stopped, "Ryan, I did a good job before, but the hesitation and hesitation here should be a little more aggravated. Also, I hope Frank and Carl can show a strange father-son relationship, and the attitude is better to be gentler. Next, let's try how this effect is."
There has never been a smooth sailing statement. The inspiration that the director bursts out on the spot and the actors’ sudden temporary performance may change the original shooting plan. It has just begun now. It is not only the actors who need to find the state, but also the director Spielberg.
The rivalry between Ryan and Tom Hanks in the movie is undoubtedly the biggest highlight, and Spielberg needs to find a matching rhythm for the two.
This scene was filmed seven times in a row. Sometimes it was Ryan who needed to be adjusted, and sometimes it was Tom Hanks who needed to be adjusted. When Spielberg shouted "great", the entire shooting scene burst into warm applause. The two men's acting was definitely worthy of their applause.
Although this is an old airport, the crew cannot rent it for too long. After Ryan and Hanks found a tacit understanding, Spielberg immediately accelerated the shooting speed. The fast-paced shooting also mobilized the working motivation of the entire crew, greatly improving efficiency.
"Ryan Jenkins' new film starts filming, and he has a live show with Tom Hanks..."
The crew soon released various news, and news about the movie began to flood the entertainment pages of big and tabloids.
"After two years of silence, Ryan Jenkins finally stood back to his stage. A genius from the 1990s plays a genius from the 1960s. This is a collision spanning time and space..."
"In front of two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks, what kind of performance will Ryan grow up will be worth looking forward to."
