Chapter 180 Dubbing
Hand-drawn animation is a much more complicated than live-action film production. For the sake of "The Lion King", Disney Animation Studio not only stranded "Aladdin" and transferred the best group of hand-drawers to the crew, but also sent a team of dozens of people to Africa to collect folks.
In particular, lions rented from circuses arrive at the studio three to four days a week for hand-painters to ponder, and the roars from time to time from the animation department are often chilling.
Because of Ryan, Disney avoided many detours when making this animation. The shapes and small movements of various animal characters are reflected in his setting drawings and text descriptions. Saving time is equivalent to saving a lot of budget.
After more than two years of hard work, the animated film was finally close to completion. After several silent film trials, producer Don Hahn officially put the dubbing work on the agenda.
When signing the share agreement, Ryan agreed to dubbing one of the important characters and sing one of the theme songs. For future gains and the box office appeal of the movie, Disney naturally could not let him go, so the young version of Simba will be dubbed by him.
But Ryan didn't expect that Disney actually found a good partner for herself, and the voice actor of the young Nana actually was...
"Nate, why are you here in Los Angeles?" Looking at Natalie who walked into the dubbing room, Ryan couldn't help scratching his head, "Why didn't I notify?"
"I came to Los Angeles because Disney asked me to dubb Nana." Natalie wrinkled her nose at him, "Ah... Taylor said you are very busy recently and there is no need to inform you. Besides, I want to see how you are surprised."
"Okay, I'm very surprised!" Ryan cooperated very well and showed a shocked expression, then looked at Don Hahn, "Dang..."
But he hadn't finished speaking yet. The other party said first, "Ryan, I've notified you."
"Have you notified me?" Ryan curled his lips, "Why don't I remember?"
"Because you're a fool." Natalie giggled, very happy.
"Please sit, Nat." Ryan was too lazy to argue with her, so he called Natalie to sit in the rest chair and asked, "Where is Mrs. Shelley?"
"It's in the hotel." Natalie seemed a little dissatisfied, "I'm not a child."
"Yeah?"
Ryan deliberately straightened up and was closer to Natalie. Natalie simply turned her head and started chatting with the director.
"Nat, I think you should change a role!" Ryan was obviously asking for nothing, while Natalie turned around curiously, "Which one should I change?"
"Sangqi." Ryan smiled brightly, "I think your voice is very suitable for it, look..."
"Is that right, Ryan?" Natalie's two rows of fine teeth were grinding. Ryan was sure that if it was in private, she would definitely jump over and bite her a few bites.
"Oh, who is going to compete for roles with me?"
The door of the dubbing room just opened. A fat black female man walked in. It was Whoopi Gordon.
Disney took great pains to make this brilliant character and invited a heavy person to dub her - Oscar winner Whoopi Gordonburg.
"I haven't seen each other for a long time, Oopi."
Walking into the completely closed dubbing room, Ryan greeted the fat black female. Among the black actors in Hollywood, she was the one who impressed him better and more profound. The two met at the Oscars and were familiar with each other.
"Hi, Ryan." Whoopi Gordonberg joked, "You are the little prince from the Glory Stone? I'm going to make you a barbecue meal today!"
"Is that so? Oubi?" Ryan cooperated and showed a look of fear. "I think it's better to brais or steam it, how about making soup?"
In fact, dubbing is mostly busy with their own things. Except for a few important scenes, dubbing actors rarely gather together. There are some seemingly funny conversations that are often read out separately. With the increasingly advanced sound-sharing technology, the tedious work that used to be has become very relaxed now.
Then Ryan introduced Natalie and Whoopi Gordonburg.
The script and lines had already been handed over to several people. Whether Ryan or Whoopi Gordonburg, they were all experienced people, and soon entered the work state, and they kept exchanging some views on the interaction between the characters.
"Haha, Banzai, see who came here~" Whoopi Gordonburg practiced Sanqi's pronunciation.
"Wait, Whoopi." Ryan interrupted her practice, "I think you should change your tone?"
"Change accent?" Gordonburg himself is an actor with a high level of understanding, and he also feels that the lines he just read seem to be not suitable for the character of a female jackal.
"Yes." Ryan nodded and couldn't help laughing, "For example... in a very worthy sound..."
"Hmm..." Whoopi Gordonburg fell into thinking.
"Wow~Wow~Wow~Wow~Hehe, Banzai, see who came to the door." Ryan's voice really sounded very ungrateful.
"Yes! That's the voice." Robert Minkoff, who is the voice director, made an acknowledgement.
"It sounds really good. I wonder if the children will drag me out of their homes after the movie is released and beat me up..." Whoopi Gordonburg's personality is very similar to some of the characters she plays, and it is full of humor.
"Sorry, we're late?"
Several more people knocked on the door and walked in, one of them was Rowan Atkinson, the famous Mr. Bean.
"No..." The assistant quickly let them in.
Ryan and others couldn't help laughing. There was no way, as long as they saw his face, few people could hold it in.
"Sorry, Mr. Atkinson, I really... I can't help it..."
"It's okay, Ryan, can I call you that? Thank you, in fact, most people will laugh when they see me, like these." He pointed to the few people who came with him, "I laughed from the parking lot outside and went to the studio, and I stopped before entering the door."
As for the characters he dubbed, they were Shazu, Mushafa's long-winded bird butler.
Soon, Jim Kunings and Chezzie Marin also walked into the dubbing room, and the dubbing actors were all here this time.
"Wow, wow, wow, wow, Banzai, see, see who is here~" Whoopi Gordonburg's tone was very weird.
"I don't know, Sanqi~ What do you think, Ed!"
"Hey haha, hey haha, hey haha~" This sounds even more sluggish.
"Oh, three invaders!"
"I promise you, this is a misunderstanding, it is just a wrong route positioning~" Mr. Bean looked at the birds on the screen and gestured with his hands and feet.
"Wait, I know you, are you Mushafa's young follower~" Ubi Gordonburg's voice became increasingly flattering.
"You can't do anything to me!" Ryan said proudly like a proud little lion in the picture, "You can't do anything to me~"
His voice sounds a little naive, but he has a natural kingly aura. Although he is immature, he has a unique nobleness. "You are just greedy, ugly, stupid hunters..."
"Wait, wait~ I think we can have a lion cub sandwich. What do you think?" Whoopi Gordonburg's voice has reached a certain level, which really makes people scream.
"Puff~"
Finally someone couldn't help laughing.
This disrupted the entire rhythm, and Ryan and others had to stop.
"Sorry, I...I can't help it." Natalie bent down and raised her hand, smiling brighter than the sun pendant on her neck.
"Dear Miss, this is a very serious job!" Rowan Atkinson first showed a serious look, then laughed. He pointed at Whoopi Gordon, and he couldn't even straighten his waist.
The rest of the people, including Ryan, were able to maintain normal state at work. Now, being seduced by Mr. Bean, I could no longer hold back and laughed out loud at the same time.
"It seems that my humorous talent is still very good. Maybe the Film Academy should invite me to host the Oscars." Whoopi Gordonburg shrugged in cooperation.
Ryan really wanted to tell her that you were about to appear on the Oscar hosting stage, but when she remembered her outfit in her previous life, she couldn't help but feel chilled. This guy has played the dressing show to a certain level.
Especially after entering the new century, Nicole Kidman's beautiful look in "The Moulin Rouge" once fascinated countless people, so Whoopi Gordonburg had an imitation show while hosting the Oscars.
I believe that those who have watched that movie will remember the scene when Nicole Kidman was wearing a costume and sitting on a swing. It was so beautiful and charming. This scene was brought to the Oscar stage by Whoopi Gordon Castle. When she was wearing a feathered shirt and swinging on the stage from the swing, countless people would snort. People with low laughter might even spit out the overnight dinner...
The dubbing work is quite smooth, and this is not a movie shot. Even if you make mistakes occasionally, you don’t have to start from scratch.
There are too many funny lines and scenes in the movie. Some of the dubbing actors are still comedians. Even professionals like Ryan, laughter still happens from time to time.
"Okay, let's be here today, thank you everyone!" After successfully completing several scenes, Don Hahn announced that the work was temporarily over.
After saying hello to everyone, Ryan pulled Natalie out of the animation studio together.
"What's next, Nat?" he asked.
"I promised Taylor that I would go see her after the work was finished."
Natalie's words made Ryan feel a headache, "Can you not go? Don't you think it's not to pinch a little kid with you?"
