Chapter 239: Pentium Age and Baby Age

Chapter 239 The Pentium Era and the Baby Era

In January 1994, in addition to the addition of Zhang Bixuan's harem, it was also a time period for global semiconductor groups to engage in a fierce business war.

With the development and maturity of the global Internet industry, the hardware requirements for computers are higher. As early as two years ago, Intel took the lead in breaking through the 800-nanometer process level, fully entering the nano-era era from the micron era, and launching the prelude to the Pentium era.

Although pentium 60 and pentium 66 have not had any influence in the past two years. Basically, global computer users still support the 386,486 series more. By 1994, Intel's technology level has improved by leaps and bounds, and it has been upgraded to 0.35 microns. It has successively launched pentium pro, pentium mmx two products that are ahead of all similar CPUs. In particular, pentium mmx, which uses Intel's in-box invention - mmx multimedia extension instruction set, including 57 multimedia instructions, which can process multiple data at once. mmx technology can achieve better performance with the cooperation of software.

Because of the existence of the network, more and more multimedia information is flooding the network space. This makes the Pentium CPU process audio, video and other data in the eyes of users, which is significantly faster than the chips produced by other companies, indicating that the Pentium CPU is indeed excellent in performance.

Intel Pentium CPUs quickly stood out among all kinds of 586 CPUs internationally. Although the only released pentium mmx sells at a high price of $1,000, it is still very popular with its excellent performance. For Europe and the United States, where per capita income is relatively high, most people prefer to use more expensive but better performance computers, rather than using cheaper computers but are about to be eliminated.

After Intel released the Pentium pentium mmx, cyrix launched a 5x86 processor. This processor's performance is only equivalent to a Pentium Pentium processor of 75mhz. Compared with the Pentium above 100mhz, the performance of the cx5x86 is far from enough, but compared with the 486 processor, the cx5x86 is much stronger. Although cx5x86 belongs to the 586cpu category, it continues to use the socket 3cpu socket for various manufacturers. In addition to providing 486 users with a pentium overdrive for the old Intel 80486 processor upgrade, Intel does not provide other socket 3 versions of pentium.

And in terms of price, cx5x86 is only $300. For many users who are eager to have high-performance chips but are scared away by the sky-high price of pentium mmx, cx5x86 is the most suitable choice.

At this time, Intel was incredible in the international CPU market, and Cyrix also attracted much attention.

Although Longteng Technology, which has not launched new products for a long time, is still in a monopoly position in China, orders have begun to decrease in overseas markets, especially in developed countries. Amd is also the same as Longteng Technology. At this time, Amd Chairman Jerry Sanders was still encouraging the fighting spirit of the company's employees and fully develop K5 to challenge Intel's authority!

Because new and old overseas competitors have launched new CPUs one by one, Longteng Technology is still improving the process level of 386,486, and there is any news that Longteng Technology will soon launch new products.

Affected by this, Longteng Technology stocks listed in Hong Kong and Shenzhen fell slightly by 2.5% and 3%, respectively, and the closing prices of the stock markets of both places were HK$20.30 and RMB25.23 respectively. Longteng Technology's total share capital was 10 billion shares. In Hong Kong, the combined stocks in Shenzhen were about 3.5 billion shares. As a super high-performance stock with an annual return on equity of more than 50%, it rose from 5 yuan per share per share in both markets to more than 20 yuan respectively during its listing period in 1992.

Since its stock price went public, it is rare that Longteng Technology Company's stock price fell by more than 2%. It has begun to be published in newspapers. Longteng Technology Company has been unable to release a new generation of processors for a long time, which has reduced the confidence of some investors.

However, Longteng Technology has made progress. Since 1992, Longteng Technology has raised its process to 800 nanometers, it has closely followed Intel's pace to move forward. In 1994, Longteng Technology Company's two new chip factories and two wafer factories started construction, the annual chip production capacity reached 10 million.

Moreover, all 286 production lines of Longteng Technology were eliminated and sold to domestic manufacturers at low prices. After all, even if the 286 chip is relatively backward among PC computers, it is still "advanced" enough for some so-called "Wenquxing Handheld Computers" and "Xiaobawang Learning Machines".

In order to prevent Intel Pentium from attacking the Chinese market by chips such as cx5x86, Longteng Technology generally reduced the price of Longteng 386 chips to US$30 per piece, and the price of Longteng 486 chips to ultra-low prices below US$80. Lenovo, Inspur, Great Wall, Founder and other Chinese PC computer companies have guaranteed Longteng Technology that it will not purchase foreign Pentium, Cyrix586 and other chips, and wait for the launch of the new generation of Longteng Technology chips. Of course, this waiting is time-limited. If Longteng Technology has not yet launched a new chip product in one or two years, these PC manufacturers will still invest in the arms of Intel and other companies for profits.

In terms of process level, Longteng Technology is already quite ahead, only about a year behind Intel. If Longteng now produces Pentium or 5x86 chips of the same level, it would be enough, and it would only be the design drawings of the new generation of CPUs.

In order to cope with the challenges of international peers, Zhang Bixuan began to play guest roles in an engineer and designed an excellent chip for Longteng Technology. In fact, most of the design drawings were completed by the baby many years ago, but in the past, Longteng Technology's technology level was backward and there were insufficient skilled technical workers. Zhang Bixuan did not take out the advanced drawings to prevent shocking the enemy. It seems that later, Amd's K5 was exposed too early, prompting Intel to come up with a stronger Pentium 2 processor to deal with them.

"We must launch a new generation of CPUs immediately. The name of this CPU is no longer Longteng 586. We want to name it Baby, and our future generations of CPUs will be named Baby 2 and Baby 3!" Zhang Bixuan said to the engineers.

"Why? Longteng, it's not good for Longxin to call these two? Why is the new CPU called baby?" Many people showed strange looks.
