Chapter 1102 did not open a room

If it only reduces students' foreign language learning burden, then Chen Kangjie's first proposal is not complete.

He plans to propose an additional course "History of Science and Technology" in the proposal, which can help effectively break through the gap between liberal arts and science.

In 1959, British scientist and novelist Charles Percy Snow (C.P. Snow) published a book called "The Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution".

In the book, Snow believes that the intellectual life of the entire Western society has increasingly been classified into two extreme groups. The first level is literary intellectuals, and the other extreme is scientists, especially the most representative physicists. There is a gap between the two of them that is incomprehensible, and sometimes they hate and dislike each other, especially among young people.

Of course, most of them are absurdly distorting the other person's image due to lack of understanding. They have completely different attitudes towards problems, and even find many common foundations in terms of emotions.

Snow wrote: I never thought that the connection between scientists and traditional culture would be so relaxed, just like touching the brim of the hat when saluting,... The entire literature of traditional culture seems to have nothing to do with their interests... They make themselves poor, so what will the other side think, too, and perhaps more serious, because those literary intellectuals are more conceited about it, and they still like to claim that traditional culture is the entire "culture", as if there is no natural order at all, as if exploring natural order is meaningless in terms of its own value or in terms of its results, as if the scientific edifice of the physical world is not the most beautiful and wonderful collective creation of human beings in terms of intellectual depth, complexity or explanation.

C.P Snow gave two prescriptions for treating this division. One is to create a third culture. The other is the education he has not yet penetrated. Although he has not yet penetrated, he repeatedly talked about: the basic means for us to choose is education, mainly middle and primary education, and also colleges. There is no reason to make the next generation generally ignorant, or lack of understanding and compassion like ourselves.... The changes in education itself cannot solve our problems, but without these changes we cannot even realize what these problems are.

During the Chinese New Year, Chen Kangjie happened to read this book. The discussion initiated by Snow is still continuing today. Many scholars are discussing the creation of the third culture. Brockmann proposed two years ago that some scientists began to directly talk to ordinary readers. This is the third culture being formed.

Chen Kangjie believes that Snow’s two prescriptions are actually one. Communication between two cultures or creating a third culture must start with education.

In this regard, Chen Kangjie made two proposals. One is that middle schools establish a course on the history of science and technology. The history of science and technology is undoubtedly subordinate to history, but there is no need to incorporate it into history teaching and become part of the latter. It is easier to independently develop the course of science and technology history than to incorporate science and technology into history. Moreover, because science and technology history is like art history, and has its own independent content and thresholds that are different from traditional history. It is quite difficult for traditional historians to complete this course. Teaching in middle schools has greatly explored the historical vision of students, even teachers and researchers. After modern reflection, we should realize that history is not an emperor. The history of the king, general and minister, but if the inference of this logic is limited to the history of the people, it is to replace another narrow-minded with a narrow-minded method. The creation and invention of technicians and science are often promoted and changed by emperors, generals and ministers. This is an important perspective for perspective on historical development. The earliest historical view was limited to the history of power struggle, military conquest, and political system. Later, economic history stood out. Economic history told people how society operates, while science and technology history told people why history changed. Science and technology history was more grand, wide-angle, tempting, easier to understand, and could win the enthusiasm of more students.

As a liberal arts student, Chen Kangjie understood that the history of science and technology has great benefits for liberal arts students. Many liberal arts students are not interested in science because they are not interested in computing on the microscope. The history of science and technology does not teach students how to use science and technology, but how to understand the impact of major discoveries of science and technology on human society, such as the relationship between bronze, iron smelting and the state and military, how saddles changed the comparison of military power, the relationship between papermaking, printing and the imperial examination, how Gutenberg changed the information stock in the Western world, the discovery and popularization of electricity, and even the evolution of telephone to mobile phones, etc. The professors of this course are likely to induce many students to love science.

It was a little better after rebirth. Before rebirth, Chen Kangjie knew almost nothing about technology.

When cooperating with "Titanic", Cameron, who has a strong painting skills, told Chen Kangjie: Don't say that we don't understand painting, in terms of feeling and aesthetics, we may be weaker than or stronger than a painter. The difference between us and painters is actually mainly because of the techniques, we cannot draw them. Similarly, we are unable to engage in scientific research and technological development, but non-scientific and technological workers are not weaker than professional scientific and technological workers for the evolution of science and its changes to human history.

From the perspective of a layman, Chen Kangjie felt that the professor of science and technology history is of great benefit to students majoring in science and engineering. The courses they majored in are extremely specialized, which makes them lose their macro perspective. Science and technology history is essentially a liberal arts, and it can give students majoring in science and engineering a sense of history and a philosophical perspective. What is particularly charming is that this philosophical and historical literacy is not obtained from traditional philosophy and history. Some science and engineering students may not be interested in those knowledge, but from the history of science that they are most likely interested in.

That is to say, the courses of history of science can connect two groups of students in terms of intellectual interest and care, so that students in liberal arts like science, and students in science like history and philosophy.

At the end, Chen Kangjie will also make a supplementary suggestion. Perhaps this suggestion will not be implemented in a short period of time, but he still wants to join in. That is Chen Kangjie's second proposition, that is, the education department implements the strategy of not dividing arts and science in the middle school stage. He only applies to the university in the college entrance examination and does not apply to the department. When the second or third grade of the university is in charge of the college entrance examination, the department and major will be determined. The college entrance examination includes three subjects: Chinese, mathematics, general knowledge, and 100 points each. The general knowledge consists of two parts: science, including physics, chemistry, biology; liberal arts, including history, geography, history of science, etc.

High school does not distinguish between liberal arts and science, but individual preferences should not be suppressed. The system design that matches it is that students can apply for their "weighted" choices in general knowledge in advance before the college entrance examination: liberal arts score plus science score, or liberal arts score × 130% science score × 70%, or liberal arts score × 70% science score × 130%.

Chen Kangjie's idea of this also has a lot to do with his recent college entrance examination not long after he took the college entrance examination. When he was in junior high school, everyone studied geography and biology in the first year of high school. However, these were agreed to be considered as deputy subjects, not the main subjects. Why? Because they didn't take the exam during the entrance examination. Since they didn't take the exam, the students would not study seriously.

Perhaps one thing is worth thinking about. Our country’s achievements in the field of biology are not as good as those in natural subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics. Perhaps it is related to the fact that we learned biology in middle school, and it is the same in geography. Many middle school students even do not understand maps and do not know how the earth implements positioning through longitude and latitude.

Chen Kangjie had not finished writing yet, so it was difficult for him to continue writing, because Chen Jundong seemed depressed as soon as he entered the door. He did not say hello to Chen Kangjie, but threw it to the door in a muffled voice and fell onto the bed.

"Brother, why did you come back so early? It's only ten o'clock now. I thought you were also imitating Chen Wenjie and wouldn't come back tonight." Chen Kangjie put down the pen in his hand and asked half-jokingly.

Chen Jundong ignored Chen Kangjie, but turned over and buried his head towards the other side of the wall.

"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong? What's the matter? Whoever offended you? It's not that the date has been ruined." The more Chen Jundong didn't say it, the more Chen Kangjie wanted to ask about the situation clearly.

Chen Jundong turned his face expressionlessly, "You guessed it, you've been ruined."

"How can I get lost? Tell me, see if I can help you. Don't do this like a dead mother."

"Forget it, don't ask now. Let me have a good sleep. Maybe I will feel more comfortable when I wake up," Chen Jundong said uncomfortable.

Chen Kangjie cares about him, but he can't force others to do anything. If Chen Jundong doesn't say it, he can't help.

After a while, Ge Zihao came back, and Chen Kangjie lost the environment to write things. In order to keep his own confidentiality, he had to give up temporarily and wait until the opportunity was right before writing.

Chen Wenjie did not return overnight. When everyone thought he would definitely be able to return with a beauty, he seemed even more angry than Chen Jundong when he returned to the dormitory the next morning.

"Why are you so angry? Didn't you get rid of the fire last night and didn't come back overnight? Didn't you tell me that you had to check in a hotel?" Seeing Chen Wenjie slamming the door and smashing the bench, Ge Zihao asked while lying on the bed and laughing.

"Fuck, I,,,,,." Chen Wenjie was a little angry.

"What's wrong with you? Didn't you check in?" Chen Kangjie walked out of the bathroom.

"I'm going to check in for a room, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"It's a good thing to check in. It's worth celebrating. Why do you want to harm yourself?" Chen Kangjie was full of doubts.

Even Chen Jundong, who had been wandering all night, supported himself and was deeply interested in Chen Wenjie's affairs.
