Chapter 73. Broken
Caroline opened her eyes in silence.
The firewood pile was splashing with twinkling sparks, making a slight crackling sound, dyeing her face a trace of orange. She found herself curled up on the chair, just slightly adjusted her posture, and the robe covered with her body slid down to the ground.
The girl slowly leaned her feet towards the ground, not the soft carpet in the tavern room, but the cold stone bricks. She didn't know when her shoes were removed, and she was wearing only gray-white cotton socks on her feet, and she felt a little chill when she fell to the ground.
The half-closed wooden door did not fulfill its loyalty. The cold wind leaked into the crack of the door and blew past her. She sucked her nose twice, couldn't help it, and sneezed gently.
Then she heard a soft moan in the corner of the room, followed by a gentle girl's voice:
"Carolyn, are you awake?"
Mia Christian slowly stood up. She had just sat on a hard wooden chair, leaning against the wall, taking a nap, and slept a little sore in her waist and back.
"Well, Sister Mia, where are we now?"
Caroline finally found her little shoes. She looked at the crack of the open door. It was pitch black outside and looked scary. She hurriedly picked up the robe on the ground and trotted to Mia.
"We are on the wall of the Tower of North Wind, which is a temporary lounge, and Mr. Evans lets us rest here." Mia stretched her body, put her robe on, and glanced at the outside.
"It's already dark."
"Where is Mr. Adrien, is he back?"
The girl pulled her robe and asked in a low voice.
"Mr. Wei... it shouldn't be there yet, but I think it's going to be soon." Mia was a little uneasy. It should have been half a day since Cyril was dragged into the underground palace.
She didn't know much about the ruins, but she just hurriedly replenished her knowledge for half a night after knowing that she was going to the ruins. The simplest tomb may take only a few dozen minutes to explore. Even a novice like her can use a staff to knock on the small skeleton, Slime, that may appear.
But if it is a second-story underground palace, there is no strong enough team. A mage like her will be unable to move forward, and the time for exploration will be several times higher...
The stone slab that could not be opened after closing and the green light that resonated with Caroline made Mia feel extremely uneasy.
Mia did not dare to hide anything from the leader Christine, and told her everything she knew, hoping that the Silver Blade Knights could play a role. She didn't care about the wanderer and the half-lizard man, and Mr. Wei could be saved.
But the girl did not dare to show this anxiety on her face, especially to Caroline. Whenever Caroline grabbed her mage robe, she felt an inexplicable sense of responsibility and urged her to care for and cherish this girl who was like a small animal.
"Ele.me? I'll take you to find something to eat. Maybe we will meet Mr. Wei back after eating."
Mia pulled Caroline's hand and pushed open the half-closed door. The wind from the high place at night immediately poured in, as if she was about to tear her apart.
Mia couldn't help but frown and blocked Caroline behind her. It was not that she hadn't come to the wall of the North Wind Tower at night, but she had never seen such a strange wind-
Fierce, crazy, and with a hint of magic.
magic?
She was slightly surprised and immediately stretched out her hand, staring at her palm with breath and focused
Spell model construction - completed.
Magic infusion...
Mia frowned. This was just a series of water-based spells. She had already mastered her skills. It was said that she could complete the casting in less than a second. But at this moment, the magic power in her body was just about to pour into the spell model. She was immediately disturbed by the wind and scattered in disorder.
"Where did this wind with magical turbulence come from?"
There was a little panic in her eyes. If she looked at it with her naked eyes, there would be no clues around her. It seemed that it was a more windy night. But the magical turbulence told her that these were just illusions:
"No, I have to go and find Captain Christine!" She immediately made up her mind and was about to wrap her mage robe. She simply picked up Caroline in the waist, but she heard the girl behind her whisper:
"Sister Mia, I just had a dream."
She turned around, but saw a faint green light in the white-haired girl's eyes, like a cat quietly staring at her in the dark:
"In my dream, I saw a lot of skeletons surrounded by the city walls, and the people in the city were biting each other-"
"Caroline, what are you talking about?" Mia pressed Caroline's shoulder with both hands and shook back and forth.
But Caroline seemed to be unable to hear Mia's inquiry at all, and continued:
"Then, the earth cracked open, and a white thing flew into the air, and the walls were shattered."
"It flew towards me, it flew over, it took me away, I flew up, it flew up!! Uh--"
The more she spoke, the more excited she became, and a strange layer of blue began to appear under the green light in her eyes. Her louder tone almost turned into screams in the end, but all this came to an abrupt end-
Mia picked up the girl hard, took her into her arms, and used her body to block the girl's inexplicable madness. Caroline's little hand was waving in the air and her calves were kicking around, but after a while he lost his energy and was soft in her arms.
"Are you okay?"
She asked softly.
The answer to her was a tired, soft voice.
"Sister Mia, I'm hungry."
"Okay, I'll take you to dinner now, you can eat as much as you want."
Mia used her hand to combed Caroline's messy white hair. She was about to walk down the city wall when suddenly a rumbling sound came from the wall under her feet. She almost fell on the wall on the side, and the quiet city wall in front of her suddenly became noisy. Below were the sound of armor collisions and chaotic footsteps, and soldiers continued to run out of the tower.
"What are you doing here? Go to the city quickly and don't get in the way here!"
A knight in light gray armor shouted loudly at Mia and Caroline, and at the same time blocked some of the soldiers with his body, shouting to let them go. Mia knew that this was not the place she should stay, so she hugged Caroline and was about to run down the wall when Caroline suddenly screamed in her ear:
"Sister Mia, look, the cover is cracked!"
Cover? What cover?
She turned around in surprise and did not see anything that matched Caroline's description, but the next second a rapid wind swept across her cheeks. The magic power mixed in the wind was even more disordered than just now. The element of the high-speed collision even rubbed out the lightning in front of her, which made her heart jump.
A lot of chaos of magic, the shape of the cover, broken...
The girl's pupils suddenly contracted. She immediately turned around, grabbed the kind-hearted knight just now, and shouted in her loudest voice: "Hurry up, go and tell your leader!"
