799 Counterattack 2

When the frontal firepower suppressed the French, several elite squads began to advance alternately under the cover of infantry. One of them was composed of two soldiers carrying flamethrowers and several grenadiers. Next to it was a melee group with gas masks and submachine guns. The Germans had no intention of giving the French a chance to jump out of the trench and fight hard!

They chose a trench with weak defense. Several soldiers threw the tear gas and grenades in their hands. Accompanied by thick smoke and explosions, several French soldiers who were choking in tears and burst into tears as soon as they rushed out of the trench, they were sifted by dense bullets. Several soldiers immediately jumped into the trench and then made a safe gesture.

More elite infantry rushed in, while machine guns suppressed the French soldiers who tried to support the breakthrough from the surface positions. In the trenches, the elite German team with submachine guns and semi-automatic rifles were obviously more combat-effective than the French and the rifles in their hands! Accompanied by bursts of gunfire like a burst of beans, the German soldiers who fully utilized their firepower advantages began to gradually clear the trenches, and all the French soldiers who blocked were either shot dead or forced to retreat to the support point.

"We drove the French together like a pack of wolves driving away the flocks. They tried to use bunkers and bunkers to resist the attack, but they didn't know that this was exactly what we wanted. Our goal was to bring the French together and then have a big barbecue!" A commando officer said after the war.

When all the French no longer dare to show their heads in the trenches, when all the people were trembling in the mud and unwilling to surrender, when the French thought that they could be safer after they were grouped together, the flamethrower in the hands of the German soldiers let them know what hell is!

Fire dragons, more than 20 meters long, ran out of the flamethrower's nozzle, compressed nitrogen to spray the mixed fuel at an extremely high speed. After igniting at the muzzle, these liquids made of gasoline and other combustible substances, with extremely high temperature and viscous properties, instantly became the deadliest weapon on the battlefield!

No matter what the trench is like, accompanied by the flamethrower shooter's continuous short shots, fire dragons pass through the winding trench. All the items they touch may be human bodies, weapons, or supporting logs. No matter what it is, it will quickly turn into ash under the high temperature of thousands of degrees!

The most painful thing is the soldiers who were not killed immediately. These flamethrowers are even more deadly than napalm bombs! With repeated dots, the entire trench was filled with flames. From time to time, soldiers covered in fire roared and rolled in despair, trying to put out the fire. Their struggle is likely to bring disaster to their comrades next to them. Just a little bit of it will be buried by the flames. The sound of dying from time to time means that the flames are developing deep along the trench.

The remaining French soldiers trapped in solid bunkers also could not survive. The blast of flamethrowers and engineers turned the fortifications that the French regarded as the last reliance on turned into a huge anger. With each violent explosion and the point shot of flamethrowers, there were always at least one squad of French soldiers and their bunkers together forever.

The French had very limited defense depth. After breaking through the first 3 kilometers, the fragile abdomen of the French army was finally exposed to the sharp front of the German army. After the sudden blow and the command system was becoming increasingly chaotic, the French could only resist the German attack alone in regiments or battalions. The bunkers behind were even scarce, and they could only dig out a horizontal bunker in the wilderness that could barely fit.

When the elite infantry broke through the French defense line, a large number of infantry units and towed artillery immediately followed began to advance in depth. They quickly divided and surrounded the remaining French troops. One attack might capture a battalion, and if they were lucky, they could catch a regiment. Infantry who lacked mobility would choose to solve these small groups of enemies on the spot, and when they encountered French troops guarding the town, temporary siege was generally adopted.

Under the leadership of a very small number of assault guns and truck guns, or even just a few half-tracked vehicles equipped with machine guns, the French defense can be easily crushed. The powerful 75mm rapid-fire guns cannot play any role in the encounter. Without the protection of the bunker, these artillery work part-time as swordsmen who have lost their hands are like swordsmen who have no resistance. A half-tracked vehicle equipped with a 12.7mm machine gun, carrying 8 infantrymen, successfully seized 4 75mm rapid-fire guns and a large amount of ammunition.

"We rushed over from their side, and we didn't even get out of the car. We swept from behind them with a large caliber machine gun and a mg08 general-purpose machine gun. The bullets of the large caliber machine gun were so powerful that they could penetrate the shield of the artillery and the French soldiers hiding behind. The fierce firepower quickly made them surrender. They handed over their weapons obediently, and then squat there honestly." During this assault, the Germans once again realized the importance of armor and light armor units with both fast offense and defense in mobile warfare.

When the Munich reconnaissance airship flew over the battlefield again, he saw the German army, like a gray tide, driving the French army from the north and east. The German offensive position was so wide, and the French suffered huge losses in the attack some time ago. When the superior German army launched a counterattack, the French army on the front line did not even have the ability to resist at all!

"The only thing that can limit our results is the speed of advancement. The French troops in the rear could retreat quickly through roads and railways. We did not conduct a battle-level hindrance at the air force, which was the most important factor affecting the results. The resistance encountered in the direction of the French Third Army was relatively strong. They dispersed the armored troops to infantry units. Although these tanks were eventually destroyed one by one, they successfully hindered our attack." The Munich airship wrote in a telegram sent back.

Faced with the sudden change, the French Third Army Group supported its colleagues at all costs under the order of commander Lu Fu. The French hurriedly gathered tanks, trucks and even cars, forming a pieced together mobile force to try to block the German offensive.

In the next two days, the French used civilian vehicles to transport at least one division of troops to reach the appropriate position, and established a line of defense. Although this line of defense was quickly broken and a complete division disappeared from the French battle sequence, this gave Xia Fei the opportunity to draw troops from the northern line to support the already collapsed front line.
