491 Loss of status
Lu Yiqi knew the reasons why Charles Woodson took the initiative to ask for a conversation.
To be more precise, this is a situation created by Lu Yiqi himself.
Since that office conversation, Woodson has been working diligently to complete his work. He did not go all out of the explosion of the universe, nor did he slacken off his conscience. His overall performance can still be called the word "stable", but it is far from worthy of "excellent" expectations.
In the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Woodson made two defensive mistakes at the critical moment.
Of course, mistakes must exist - rugby players are also normal humans, mistakes are inevitable, and no one wants to make mistakes.
Lu Yiqi did not intend to condemn Woodson for this, nor did he plan to settle the score later; but it is undeniable that Woodson did not show his 100% strength. The already weak defensive second-tier defense team, without the full play of Woodson, the top superstar, will face more difficulties.
The team needs Woodson to do its best, Lu Yiqi needs Woodson to believe in his ability, and more importantly, Green Bay needs Woodson to believe that the Packers can achieve better results and bring more honors and success to Woodson, truly allowing Woodson to integrate into this team.
After defeating the Indianapolis Pony, Lu Yiqi did not talk to Woodson directly, but formulated a two-handed plan.
If Woodson can still play a stable role and plays an important role in the second-tier defense, then there is no need to implement the follow-up plan.
But if Woodson is still "playing Buddhist" like an old monk entering into meditation, then Lu Yiqi needs to make adjustments to the team's defensive second-line tactics.
Against the Tennessee Titans and against the Minnesota Vikings, Woodson's performance was still pretty well done. Obviously, Lu Yiqi's office conversation and the Indianapolis Colts' game did not substantially impress the league veteran - he was no longer a young man who could inspire blood in just a few words.
Objectively speaking, Woodson's performance is still steady. He is still the most stable link among the Green Bay Packers' defensive second-tier defense; but the problem is precisely here. With its stability, Woodson's performance does not have many highlights, and this is far from what he has.
Lu Yiqi needs that Pro Bowl-level superstar to appear on the court. If it is just stable, "Charles Woodson" will not be irreplaceable.
So, in the second half of the game against the Minnesota Vikings, Lu Yiqi made an unexpected and bold decision:
Use two cornerbacks, Will Blackmon and Tramon Williams (Trams), to rotate to change the tactical combination and rhythm.
Blackmon is a third-year student. He ranked 115th in the fourth round in 2006. He is burly, strong and powerful, and he is not inferior in physical confrontation. However, as a cornerback, his positioning ability, prediction ability, etc. are only average, and he does not have the ability to be a starter.
Tramon is a sophomore and was out of the rookie in 2007. He is slightly smaller than Blackmon's height and weight, so his ability to fight is naturally slightly weaker, but his speed and positioning performance are of a certain level. He is suitable for guarding smart and light speed receivers, and there is a certain gap between him and the starting lineup.
Now Blackmon and Tramon are mainly active in the Secret Service Group, using competitions instead of training, accumulating more experience, and further polishing their own abilities.
The parts that these two young cornerbacks deserve recognition are tactical learning and execution ability. Blackmon is a stand-alone for counter-guarding, and Tramon is a raider in the regional joint defense. They can all play their own level and accurately execute the tactical layout of the defensive team.
If you look at the future, Blackmon and Tramon have both grown into players with starting strength, and Tramon's growth potential is even more outstanding. He has been active until the 2019 season and is still one of the main cornerbacks of the Green Bay Packers. He was also shortlisted for the Pro Bowl in 2010.
Now, Lu Yiqi takes the initiative to give Blackmon and Tramon a chance to appear on behalf of the defensive team, creating an environment for them to grow.
Of course, Lu Yiqi is not arbitrary assignment. He is only rotating in specific tactical links. Blackmon is responsible for counter-guarding, and Tramon is responsible for regional joint defense. He uses different tactical arrangements and combinations with partners from different players to further enrich the tactical layout of the defensive team.
Player rotation is common in rugby games, because the game is extraordinary and the complex tactics are complex. Except for the relatively fixed quarterback and center forward, rotation in other positions is common. The meaning of starting players is not as important as football and basketball; and the playing time is not stable. In the final analysis, it still needs to be completed based on tactics.
Blackmon's rotation with Tramon did not cause much discussion, including Woodson himself, either - and Woodson's presence was still the longest.
But in the subsequent match against the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints, Woodson's appearance ratio gradually declined, and the tactical ratio between Blackmon and Tramon has been significantly improved-
Although it cannot be compared with Woodson, Woodson is still the undeserved starting lineup's absolute main player; however, Woodson still clearly felt the changes in the situation and treatment.
More importantly, Blackmon and Tramon performed well.
Unlike Woodson, who is firmly in the main role, Blackmon and Tramon are both young people, and are trying their best to win more playing time. They are eager to show their abilities in front of the head coach and then seize the position in the team's main lineup.
Every time they appear, Blackmon and Tramon are all in their efforts, devote themselves to each other, passionately! Focus! Dedication! That sense of urgency makes them burst out with unimaginable energy.
Although Blackmon and Tramon made some mistakes in these two games, especially when they were against the New Orleans Saints, Brees' pass and offense did indeed create a huge threat. The Green Bay Packers' defensive second-tier defense was not able to effectively intercept it; but from a tactical perspective, the two substitute cornerbacks did perfectly execute Lu Yiqi's tactics, but their abilities needed further polishing.
Woodson really felt the threat.
Although Woodson is still the starting lineup, he is still the main force. It seems that Lu Yiqi has no intention of directly destroying the biggest star in the team in a rebellious manner; but Woodson's playing time, game performance, and tactical proportion are all declining, and he does feel a sense of crisis.
Tell others that no one would believe it; but Woodson sincerely believed that if necessary, Lu Yiqi would "destroy" himself without hesitation. It seems that it is only a matter of time before Tramon snatched his starting position-
He believed that Lu Yiqi was so rebellious!
