322 Starting from scratch

"Jesus Christ!"

Lu Yiqi pushed open the door of the room, and a cold and chilling air came to his face. He couldn't help but shudder and instantly entered a state of holding his breath. He felt that his whole cheek was tearing, and the screams blurted out uncontrollably, widening his eyes to express his surprise.

Fortunately, June is already in this time, and summer has already arrived in Wisconsin. The cold air at 6 o'clock in the morning has been temporarily stuck for a while, and the muscles and skin have adapted to the environment. The most important thing is the impact of the moment when the door is opened, which is completely beyond Lu Yiqi's expectations.

Who would have thought that the invasion of winter could still be felt by the Great Lakes before dawn in early June?

Obviously, Lu Yiqi still has not been able to adapt to the weather conditions of Green Bay.

However, this is understandable.

Yesterday, he had just arrived at Green Bay and had not even had time to unbox it, and entered a full busy mode.

First, we went to the Green Bay Packers’ team office building to complete the formal signing ceremony with the team. The two parties had discussed the contract by phone and email, and invited lawyers to conduct contract review and negotiation adjustment work.

Then he followed the team's vehicle and came to a remote and quiet suburb. He could not find a deserted place within a twenty-minute drive, so he began to wonder if he was about to be silenced. Because his surrounding vision was the kind of suburb that might be haunted in horror movies, calm and wild.

It was not until he saw the architectural outline of the training base, the players loading and unloading luggage, and the coaching staff that he was sure that he did not become a "organ dealer".

After arriving at the training base, the excitement of trying, the nervousness of getting ready and the fatigue of the long journey were all intertwined. They just completed the first meeting of the coaching staff, and then entered their room and lay down directly, even skipped the most important dinner, and slept in a drowsy night.

Then, the biological clock woke him up.

So, he had no idea where he was. The only thing he could be sure of was that today was the first day of the official opening of the Green Bay Packers Training Camp.

Every year, the NFL offseason lasts from February to August, with March being rookie training camp, April being draft, and August being preseason. Only May, June and July are left to run-in for the team. If free market transactions and transfers need to be taken into account, the time for real practice of tactics is concentrated in July.

Each team will hold a training camp based on their own situation.

According to league regulations, the team needs to determine the 53-man roster for the final season before the official deadline, and this is the final player lineup.

But before the preseason, this list was allowed to accommodate 90 people. With the advancement of the training camp and the preseason, the lineup gradually got started, and the roster was reduced step by step, and the 53-man roster was finally finalized.

In other words, training camps from May to August are crucial. After the draft ends, the free market will be opened, and after the players complete the transfer and join, the team will take the lead in arranging a voluntary training camp.

Generally speaking, voluntary training camps will appear in mid-May or early June. The training content mainly includes physical training, recovery training and basic tactical training. The core task is to allow rookies and free agents who transfer to join the team smoothly and adapt to the head coach's tactical system.

As the name says, this is a volunteer training camp.

More often, they are rookies, players who are out of the box and new players. In order to leave a deep impression on the coach and to be able to occupy a place in the final 53-man roster, they will be more proactive in participating in the training camp.

Here, for teams that change head coaches, voluntary training camps are even more important.

On the one hand, every player hopes to leave a good impression on the new coach; on the other hand, the new coach needs to update his tactics, and he also needs to run-in time. The time in voluntary training camp allows the new coach to fully establish his own coaching system, and even the main players do not want to miss it.

But overall, this is still not mandatory.

Every player can make a choice based on his or her own situation, and whether to participate in a voluntary training camp, including rookies, also have the right to choose. The head coach must be dissatisfied with the absent players, but at most they can only complain and cannot make substantial punishment.

In addition, a few players who are fighting for big contracts - even rookie players who are fighting for big contracts, will deliberately miss the training camp and use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate with the team. Unless the contract is completed, the training will be stopped. Then, this is the job of the team manager.

The entire voluntary training camp will last about a month.

Then, according to the team's own special seeking, small-scale mandatory training camps may appear after that, specially designed for teams at specific positions.

For example, quarterback training camp; for example, wide receiver training camp. It may be set up or skipped according to the coach's requirements and the player's status.

Then, in early July, the official training camp opened, which also marked the end of the offseason and the beginning of the new season.

This is a mandatory boot camp.

Unless there are special circumstances such as injury, training, or funerals, every player must attend. The coaching staff will start formal tactical exercises, from offense to defense to special service, entering the rhythm of the new season in full swing.

The most important thing is that the 32 teams in the league will choose to replace the brand new tactical manual in the voluntary training camp, from tactics to codes; then practice repeatedly in the forced training camp, and even old players must re-learn the tactical manual, which has become a fixed problem and challenge every year.

Favre mentioned at this year's retirement press conference that every year, he had to learn new things in training camps. It was very difficult for his age and "tired", which became one of the important reasons why he lacked the motivation to continue fighting; of course, in just one month, he slapped himself in the face.

All these tactical tests and arrangements will be held in actual combat in the four preseason games in August. The coaching staff is making adjustments and arrangements, determining tactics, determining loopholes, determining lists, and finally opening their arms to welcome the arrival of the new season.

Simply put, after the draft at the end of April, the preparations for the new season have actually sounded the horn. However, after this year's Green Bay Packers experienced a series of "retirement storms", the entire preparation rhythm was disrupted, and from the management to the coaching staff to the players, they all faced severe turmoil.

As a result, the voluntary training camp was postponed to the first week of June, and the time was already very tight and had already lagged behind other teams from the beginning. At the same time, team manager Thompson also emphasized: I hope all players can attend.
