Chapter 391 Luoyang Palace

Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui were chatting while walking and soon arrived at the Luoyang city gate. What Zhang Zong did not expect was that there were two more acquaintances at the door, one was Li Jingxuan, the other was Li Xian.

Li Zhi moved the capital to Luoyang, and Prime Minister Liu Rengui stayed with Li Hong in Chang'an to assist Li Hong in handling government affairs. Except for Liu Rengui, most of the other important officials came to Luoyang, and Li Jingxuan was one of them.

Li Jingxuan and Liu Rengui were in a quarrel. The two often quarreled over political views. Even if one side supports it, the other side would definitely object. Li Zhi was also very troubled because of this. This time, he finally separated Li Jingxuan and Liu Rengui.

It is also worth mentioning that Li Jingxuan is good at government affairs, especially his memory. He once presided over the selection of officials, and there are tens of thousands of people participating in the selection of officials every year. However, Li Jingxuan can remember everyone's name. Even if he meets him on the street in the future, he can call out the other party's name accurately. He is fair in the court, so he has a very good reputation.

However, in the original history, Li Jingxuan was implicated by Liu Rengui because although he was good at government affairs, he was not in military affairs. At that time, Tubo was in a very good situation, so Liu Rengui advised Li Zhi that he had to send important officials like Li Jingxuan to guard the southwest. As a result, Li Zhi really believed it, so Li Jingxuan, a civil servant, was pushed onto the horse and was soon defeated by Lun Qinling, and finally was demoted and died of depression.

Fortunately, history has changed now, Tubo has been crippled, and Li Jingxuan no longer has to guard the southwest, so he is still comfortable and comfortable in his Zhongshu Ling.

Zhang Zong had met Li Jingxuan several times before. Although he couldn't talk about friendship, he was still aware of him, let alone Li Xian. Xue Rengui was an old minister in the court and was very familiar with Li Jingxuan and Li Xian.

So when Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui saw Li Jingxuan and others, they immediately stepped forward. Li Jingxuan and Li Xian also quickly walked forward to greet Zhang Zong and others. Then Zhang Zong realized that they were all here to pick them up, but Li Xian came to pick him up and Taiping on behalf of Li Zhi, while Li Jingxuan came to welcome Xue Rengui on behalf of the court.

At that moment, Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui followed the welcome team to Luoyang City. It was obviously not the first time Xue Rengui came to Luoyang, so he was very familiar with the situation in the city. However, Zhang Zong felt that Luoyang City was fresh everywhere. Even Taiping and Wan'er in the carriage quietly opened the cabin and secretly looked at the scenery in the city.

After entering the city, Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui did not separate because they both wanted to go to the palace to meet Li Zhi, but one was because of family affairs and the other was because of official affairs. So, accompanied by Li Jingxuan and Li Xian, the two entered the palace together.

However, when he was on the road, Zhang Zong wanted to inquire about the current situation in Luoyang City, but considering that there were too many people around him, he still couldn't speak in the end. In addition, he also considered that although Li Xian was Li Hong's brother, he was also Wu Meiniang's son, so for Zhang Zong, Li Xian was not a person who could absolutely trust. In contrast, Li Xian's own son Li Chongye was more trustworthy, because he and Zhang Zong not only had deep feelings, but also had the same interests.

Luoyang City is crossed by Luoshui, which also divides the entire Luoyang City into two parts: north and south. Luoyang's imperial city is not located on the central axis of the city, but is located in the northwest corner of Luoyang City, occupying almost one-fifth of the area of Luoyang City, and the south of the imperial city is Luoshui.

The main gate of Luoyang Imperial City is Duanmen. The Luoshui outside Duanmen was manually filled into three tributaries. After passing through the city gate, it was merged into one. There are bridges on these three tributaries, namely Xingjin Bridge, Tianjin Bridge and Huangdao Bridge from south to north.

After crossing three bridges and passing through Duanmen, Zhang Zong and the others finally entered the imperial city. Luoyang had an imperial city. Moreover, when Li Zhi was preparing to move the capital, he not only rebuilt the imperial city, but also built many new palaces. So when Zhang Zong entered Luoyang Imperial City, he saw a magnificent and brand new royal building complex.

The imperial palace in Chang'an City is called Tai Chi Palace, and the imperial palace in Luoyang City of course also has its own name. Like Tai Chi Palace, they are all named Taoists, called Ziwei Palace. The most core hall in Ziwei Palace is Qianyuan Palace, which is also the place where Li Zhi handles government affairs and meets ministers. Today, Li Zhi also meets Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui here.

It is worth mentioning that the Qianyuan Hall was originally called Ganyang Hall. It was built by Yang Guang, Emperor Yang of Sui, and was extremely luxurious. Later, Li Shimin conquered Luoyang and thought that the Ganyang Hall was too luxurious, so he burned the Ganyang Hall. Later, Li Zhi often lived in Luoyang, so he ordered people to build the Qianyuan Hall on the basis of the Ganyang Hall.

Perhaps many people will feel unfamiliar with the name of Qianyuan Palace, but if it mentions its other two names, many people must have heard of it, namely "Mingtang" and "Wanxiang Temple".

After Li Zhi's death, Wu Meiniang proclaimed himself emperor. In order to show her power, Wu Meiniang disregarded the Qianyuan Hall built by Li Zhi, and built a Mingtang again on this basis as a place for her own government affairs. Wu Meiniang was also very satisfied with this Mingtang, so she also named the Mingtang again the Wanxiang Temple.

However, both Mingtang and Wanxiang Temple are still invisible now. When Zhang Zong came here, he saw only a magnificent Qianyuan Hall. Compared with the Liangyi Hall of the Taiji Palace in Chang'an, the newly built Qianyuan Hall seemed even taller and luxurious. When Zhang Zong stood in front of the palace gate and looked at the palace gate, he actually felt a small feeling, as if this palace was more like a place where giants live, and he was like a dwarf who broke into the giant country.

The aesthetics of the Tang people were relatively simple. For example, the greater the status, the larger the house they lived in. As the lord of the world, the emperor lived in, of course, the largest house in the world. Even in some portraits, the higher the status, the larger the portraits, but the smaller the slaves would shrink several times, just like giants meeting dwarves.

Taiping had already stepped into the inner palace and saw Wu Meiniang, so now there are only Zhang Zong and Xue Rengui outside the hall gate. Xue Rengui had been here before, so he was not surprised. However, he still patiently waited for Zhang Zong to look at the Qianyuan Palace and then entered the hall with him.
