Chapter 868 The Thousand Buddha Caves in Turpan Travel Notes!

In addition to the natural scenery in the canyon!

There is also a cultural landscape that is worth visiting!

That is the Thousand Buddha Cave of Tuyugou!

Tuyugou Qianfo Cave is located in the middle of the canyon and was excavated during the Sixteen Kingdoms of the Jin Dynasty. It is one of the three famous Buddhist caves in Xinjiang.

Zhao Feng and his group walked to the Qianfo Cave in human form and were immediately attracted by the caves carved from the cliffs on both sides of the canyon!

Among these caves, there are not many caves intact Buddha statues!

But you can still see the solemn appearance of the treasure above the Buddha statue!

Later, I saw a sign not far ahead. The introduction above made everyone know more about these caves!

It turned out that during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Tuyugou Grottoes were one of the important Buddhist places that the Supreme Ruling Group of the Gaochang Kingdom fully operated.

In the Tang Dynasty, Buddhist caves on both sides of the Tuyugou Grand Canyon had further developed, and the Buddhist mural art condensed in each cave also developed to a new stage. According to the Tang Dynasty document "Xizhou Tujing" unearthed from the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Tuyugou was a fairyland on earth. The "Xizhou Tujing" has the following description: "In Tuyugou there are many temples spread along the mountain. They are surrounded by dangerous peaks and clear streams. They are surrounded by green trees, with Buddhist temples and Zen temples, floating Buddhist music and fireworks. They gather in the valley. They are difficult to see the sun and the moon."

However, compared with the "Xizhou Tujing", there are only broken walls and ruins left in Tuyugou, which has long lived up to the grand occasion!

Since the excavation of the Tuyugou Thousand Buddha Cave, it has a history of more than 1,700 years, and has gone through two stages of artificial destruction and natural collapse. There are 94 caves, and only eight remaining murals in Cave No. 46!

The surviving grotto murals still show people the style of ancient civilization, attracting the attention of experts and scholars studying Buddhist history and Buddhist art from all over the world today. They are the historical basis and physical materials for studying the history of Buddhism, the history of Buddhist art, and the history of ancient architecture, and have immeasurable historical and artistic value.

The Thousand Buddha Cave of Tuyugou was called "Dinggu Temple" in ancient times. It was a grotto that built earlier in the Turpan area and preserved more murals in the early days. The earliest cave appeared in the Jin Dynasty and the Sixteen Kingdoms period. When the Juqu family became king (443-450 AD), it was the most prosperous period of Tuyugou Buddhism.

Due to imperialist plunder and man-made destruction, more than 90% of the Tuyugou murals have been destroyed and have not survived. Now there are only 8 caves that still have a small number of murals with Uighur inscriptions. Among them, Caves 1, 2, 3, and 4, Buddha sitting on Hu beds, is the only one in the country. Some Buddhist scriptures have been unearthed here.

Passing through these caves!

Any Chinese person will inevitably feel heartbroken!

In that era of the last century, many national treasures were indeed plundered by greedy foreigners, and many of them were even destroyed by those foreigners, and more of them were not seen in the collection of foreigners!

It would be great if the system could legally bring back the Chinese treasures plundered from abroad!

Zhao Feng couldn't help but have such thoughts!

But for the system, this should be a difficult task!

Everyone then walked forward. When they approached Nangukou, a yellow ancient building appeared in front of everyone!

This ancient building is a relatively famous ancient religious ruin in the canyon. Its full name is Aeshab Kehefmaza. It is said to have a history of more than 1,300 years.

Tuyugou Huogamumaza, legendary *** missionaries first came to China to preach. After going through hardships, they finally traveled east to Tuyugou.

With the help of the local shepherds carrying dogs, Ye Munaha and six others lived here for a long time to continue their missionary mission, and the *** religion began to prevail in Tuyugou. Later, after the death of Ye Munaha and six others, as well as the first Chinese (shepherd) who believed in the *** religion, were buried in a cave, which is now Tuyugou Maza.

This ruin has been weathered!

Still standing on this vast land, perhaps they were also plundered by imperialism with the Thousand Buddha Caves in the canyon, but now they still silently declare the cultural traces that the declarers have existed on this land!

The last stop in Tuyugou is an ancient village!

An ancient and peaceful Uyghur village located in the southern exit valley of the Grand Canyon, with a history of more than 1,700 years, is the oldest Uyghur village in Xinjiang to date.

When everyone arrives at the village along the canyon exit!

It was found that this village was still inhabited by many people. It was distributed around the mosque with green towers, with about 200 families. This village completely preserves the ancient Uyghur traditions and folk customs. People often rest at sunrise and work at sunset, use ancient Uyghur communication, wear the most ethnic costumes, and visit relatives and friends in classical donkey carts.

Zhao Feng, Liu Ruoxin, Liu Yuhong and others met many people in the village, whether they were elderly, young people or children. Their faces were always filled with a calm, self-sufficient and happy expression, giving people a beautiful impression of simplicity, leisure, and uncontestedness.

In the ancient villages, residents have inherited the traditional habit of building houses with yellow clay for more than two thousand years. Some buildings still have the mark of the integration of Buddhist culture and *** culture. Houses are kiln houses made of yellow clay, some are big and small, some are tall and short; some are one floor, some are more than two floors; some are independent houses, some are connected along the mountain. Its characteristics are economical and affordable, warm in winter and cool in summer.

When Zhao Feng and his group left the canyon by car!

The impression that Tuyugou Canyon left on Zhao Feng and his group is still undestroyed for a long time!

Whether it is the Thousand Buddha Caves in Tuyugou or the Hogamubaza, they are all experienced by history, but history is not the murderer who destroyed them!

It is human greed that destroys them!

Everyone's hearts are heavy now!

......

It was already past five o'clock when it came out of the canyon, and it was almost six o'clock!

But at this moment, the sun was still hanging high in the air outside the car window!

In Northern Xinjiang Province, the sun sets every day at 9:00 or even after 10:00!

Therefore, the work and rest time in Northern Xinjiang Province may be somewhat different from that in some provinces in the east!

After nearly an hour's drive, the convoy finally arrived in Turpan.

The city of Turpan is still very impressive in Zhao Feng, because Zhao Feng learned a text called Turpan in elementary school!

It describes the enthusiasm of the Turpan people and some specialties!

Zhao Feng still remembers the feeling of yearning for Turpan at the beginning. After all, children like to eat raisins!
