Chapter 5 Drizzle Comes Suddenly

The sky gradually brightens, and smoke rises from the fish village.

The craftsmen didn't sleep much that night. They all had dark circles under their eyes, and they all looked frightened.

"I think it's better to leave as soon as possible. It will be difficult to return to Wanghai Town if we delay it."

"There are monsters outside. If you go out on the road at this time, aren't you looking for death?"

"I can't live here forever. I have to go home sooner or later."

The craftsmen were in a dilemma. Ever since they learned that a monster appeared outside last night, they began to be worried.

Demons are much more terrifying than wild beasts. Even if these dozen craftsmen tried their best, they could not resist the lowest level demon.

"The city is unsettled and I lose my baby every month. I have to go home and take care of my son. He is my lifeblood." Lin Zi, the craftsman, decided.

There were already missing children in Wanghai Town, but now there are monsters appearing again. Lin Zi is worried about his baby who has just turned one month old. He feels like grass is growing in his heart and wants to rush back no matter what.

Several craftsmen discussed it, and most of them agreed to set off immediately. The night was long and there were many dreams, and they left quickly when there were not many monsters. Returning to the impregnable Wanghai Town would be completely safe.

When the old village chief learned that the craftsmen were leaving, he waved his hand and said, "Help our fishing village build the wall every year. You guys are tired. I'll find someone to take you back."

Hearing that the old village chief wanted to send someone to escort, the craftsmen burst into tears of gratitude. This would require about ten more strong men. With these craftsmen, even if they encounter a separate monster, they would not be helpless, at least they would be able to put up a fight.

The old village chief called his granddaughter named Xiaoya and said, "Go and find your brother Yun and ask him to send these craftsmen back to the town."

Xiaoya agreed and skipped away.

"Only one person." Lin Zi cried sadly, and the other craftsmen were also disappointed.

Ten people are no match for the demon, so what use can one person have?

After breakfast and dinner, the team set off, with Yunji at the front leading the way through mountains and ridges, away from the seaside.

"Brother Yun, you are familiar with this road." Da Zhuang followed Yun Ji, barely able to keep up with his opponent's pace with his strong feet.

"It's okay, I've walked by it a few times." Yunji pushed aside a long hanging vine and made a clattering sound.

There is no official road between Qingyu Village and Wanghai Town, only rugged mountain paths.

"Little brother, be careful, don't scare the monsters around you." Lin Zi was startled by the sound and warned in a low voice.

"It's okay, usually there are no monsters where there are roads." Yunji said casually.

"After all, there are few people walking around, so this place is still too remote." The older craftsman worried.

"It's so gloomy in the mountain den. Let's go quickly. Just go over the mountain to a sunny place... What is that!" Da Zhuang was suddenly startled as he spoke. He saw something in the grass as tall as a person on the roadside.

A dark shadow swayed, as if it was covered in hair.

The craftsmen all stopped and did not dare to move. Lin Zi's Adam's apple rolled, cold sweat broke out on his strong forehead, and several older craftsmen were trembling all over.

Yunji was at the front of the team. There was a deserted grassland next to him, and the black shadow was only a few feet away from him.

A low roar came from the grass.

The smell of fishy smell hit my face.

Through the weeds, two scarlet bear eyes can be seen.

Yunji remained as still as the craftsmen. He faced the black shadow in the weeds, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

The roar gradually grew louder, and two fangs protruded from under the bear's eyes.

When the craftsmen heard the low roar, they began to retreat in fear. At this time, even a rabbit jumping out of the grass would scare them half to death.

Yunji's movements were completely opposite to those of the craftsmen. He took a step towards the grass, like a prey that was seeking death.

Upon discovering the strange movement in Yunji, the craftsmen closed their eyes in fear, thinking that the boy from the fishing village would be torn apart by the beast in the grass.

There was a rustling sound, the grass swayed, and the black shadow retreated for some reason, just like running away.

The surroundings returned to tranquility, and there was no sound in the mountains and forests.

There was no wind, no birds chirping, and it was dead silence.

"Let's go, let's go? What was that just now?" Da Zhuang was surprised and uncertain.

"Maybe it's a monkey." Yunji smiled and led the craftsmen back on the road.

"It scares me to death. The monkeys in the mountains are so brave."

"It doesn't look like much. Is there a monkey with black hair?"

"Maybe it's a giant monkey, hurry up, it's really scary in the mountains."

The team moved much faster, and the craftsmen stopped talking and focused on their way.

It takes more than half a day to walk from Qingyu Village to Wanghai Town on a mountain road, and you need to climb a mountain in the middle.

The mountain range is called Luofengling. It is deserted and has cascading mountains, making the road the most difficult to walk.

Arriving at an open space at the foot of the ridge, the craftsmen rested here for a while. They were very tired from the fast pace and were panting and covered with sweat.

"Oops, I was in a hurry and forgot to bring water. Which of you has water?" Lin Zi shook the empty water bag and asked with a dry mouth.

Everyone else shook their heads, but no one brought water.

"I'm so thirsty. Why can't I see any water on the road?"

"How about we go look for a spring or something."

"Brother Yun, you are familiar with the mountains. Is there any water source nearby?"

The group of people were thirsty and looked towards the end of the clouds.

"There is a small stream not far from here. You guys are waiting for me to fetch water." Yunji stood up and said: "This used to be a mass grave. There were evil spirits here. Don't wander around."

"Don't worry, don't worry, we are so thirsty that we can't walk. How can we have the strength to walk around?"

The craftsmen agreed in unison that they would not dare to let them wander around in such desolate mountains and wilderness.

Yunji glanced at the clouds and mist high in the mountains, his eyebrows moved without trace, and then hurried to the water source.

After Yunji left, the craftsmen rested where they were.

"There's still half the journey, so don't meet the monster."

"Bah, you crow mouth, now we are home, we will definitely go smoothly."

"I have to take a good bath when I get back to get rid of bad luck. I don't plan to go out this year...ah! What do you think that is?"

A craftsman exclaimed, and following his fingers, everyone saw a five-leaf clover growing in the woods not far away, with small flowers blooming among the leaves.

There is nothing new about grass and flowers. There are many in the mountains, but this flowering grass is different. It is moving slowly, and there is a red rope tied to the root.

"Red rope! It's wild ginseng!"

"It must be the spiritual ginseng raised by the mountain people! This thing is worth a lot of money!"

The craftsmen were all red-eyed and gathered around the mountain ginseng. However, before they had taken a few steps, the spiritual ginseng had already noticed it and burst out of the ground. It jumped away and ran away quite fast.

"Chase! Catch it no matter what!"

"Stop talking about thousands of taels of silver and chase after me quickly!"

"Brother Yun asked us not to wander around. This place seems to be haunted, so we'd better stop chasing him." Da Zhuang hesitated.

"That's spiritual ginseng! Evenly divided between us, it's worth half a lifetime's wages. It's just a matter of course. If you don't chase it, you won't have any share."

After hearing about half a lifetime's wages, Da Zhuang no longer hesitated and chased after the craftsmen, disappearing deep into the mountains and forests not long after.

Rumble.

Luofengling is covered with clouds, the thunder is low, and the drizzle is falling.

By a stream, Yunji was collecting fresh water and tightening the water bag.

The rain came suddenly and strangely.

With the stream as the boundary, it rains on one side and is dry on the other, just like two completely different worlds.

Looking into the depths of the mist-shrouded mountains, Yunji helplessly shook his head.
