3. The True Exorcist

The calm face like a deep pool showed an imperceptible disgust. The scene of a face flowing out of the faucet is far more disgusting than the blood flowing out of the faucet.

Lu Li frowned and took a step back, witnessing the sticky and twisted pale face slipping out of the faucet and rushing into the sewer.

Wow——

In the silent night, only the sound of water flowing continuously echoes.

The clear and transparent water flow continued for a while before Lu Li approached the faucet and turned it off.

Tick tick tick——

The water flow stopped, and the surroundings returned to the original dead silence.

Lu Li backed up to the kitchen door. The closed door blocked the light, plunging the kitchen into darkness.

Back in the living room, Lu Li ignored the single bed in the bedroom and rested for the night in the chair behind the desk.

Perhaps it was the calmness that Lu Li showed, or perhaps it was the kitchen knife he held tightly in his hand, but nothing strange happened that night.

Nothing happened all night.

The next morning, a little earlier.

Morning mist filled every part of Rodster Harbor, clouds shrouded the sky, and the gloom never dissipated.

Contrary to the quiet and deserted scene, the morning here is lively and noisy.

After a whole night of silence, the residents seemed to be making up for the more than ten hours of dead silence. Smoke rose from the chimneys of the continuous houses, dried fish were hung out of the windows, workers who were preparing to work said goodbye to their families, and the whistle of the ship sounded.

Echoing from the port, the aroma of breakfast permeates every street paved with bluestones.

"Hello, Mr. Lu Li."

"Hello, Detective!"

"Why are your eyes black?"

As the new face of Sailor Street, Lu Li is very popular with the residents here, especially children.

Although no one has ever seen any emotion in Lu Li.

Lu Li nodded in response to the greetings from the residents, walked to a carriage at the end, and stepped up.

The horse-drawn carriage is not a van, but an open-top vehicle like a rickshaw.

"A nearby church or an exorcist detective agency."

"Mr. 3 shillings." The coachman squatting on the roadside and eating black bread hurriedly stuffed the remains into his mouth and said vaguely.

"Um."

Lu Li leaned into his seat, put on a black bowler hat, and hid his dark eyes in the shadows.

The black hair and black eyes were unique here, and Lu Li didn't want to be stared at too much.

The groom jumped on the carriage and drove the horses away from the sailors' street.

He struggled to swallow the rough and dry food, coughed a few times, tilted his head and asked, "Did you encounter a ghost?"

"Um."

"Then I suggest you go to Mr. Hades' Detective Agency."

Lu Li, who only showed half of his face, asked, "Why not a church or another detective agency?"

"You're from another town, right? The churches in Belfast stopped dealing with exorcisms a long time ago. Most of the other exorcists have very eccentric tempers, or only serve the nobility. Only Mr. Hades is open to everyone.

, as long as you have money.”

Except Lu Li, everyone seems to know that ghosts exist in the world.

After a slight silence, Lu Li replied: "Yes, I come from somewhere else. This is the first time I have encountered a ghost."

"Then your hometown must be very safe." The groom's tone was full of envy.

"Can you tell me about the ghost?"

"...I'm sorry sir, I can't tell you."

The groom's tone was stagnant and he shook his head in refusal, just like other people Lu Li had asked.

"Why, is it because I am haunted by ghosts?"

"...Yes, if we talk about it too much it will change the target. Even if we don't get ghosted, talking about it a lot will..."

The groom decisively stopped speaking.

This seems to explain why the ghost haunted Lu Li after he "exorcised" the old couple.

As the topic ended, the carriage fell into silence.

The carriage moved forward along the street, the houses on the left side of the street disappeared, and the view became brighter.

Lu Li turned his head and looked sideways. Without the shelter of the house, he could see the continuous street roofs below and the harbor where sailing ships and cruise ships were docked further away. The fishing boats that had left the port were scattered across the dark sea.

It's a pity that there is no rising sun, and the sea surface that should be shining with sparkling water is gray and dead, without any waves.

After staring at the entire harbor for a while, Lu Li looked away, his entire face hidden in the shadow under the brim of his hat.

Ten minutes later, the carriage stopped in front of a two-story building with white walls.

The streets are quiet and clean, and the clothes of the passers-by are old but neat, which is exactly the opposite of the hustle and bustle of Sailor Street.

After taking out 3 coins and handing them to the groom, Lu Li walked into the detective agency.

When I opened the door, darkness and silence enveloped me from all around.

There are several round tables placed everywhere on the spacious first floor, and a figure behind the counter at the end is wiping an oil lamp.

Dim beams of light shine from the window onto the brown wooden floor

If you ignore the word "Detective Agency" written on the sign outside, this place looks more like a pub that has not yet opened.

Da da da--

Leather boots stepped on the floor as Lu Li walked towards the counter.

"Does this guest need to entrust you with anything?" The slightly fat figure behind the counter put down the oil lamp and handkerchief and smiled.

"About ghosts."

In the next few minutes, Lu Li briefly recounted what he saw last night, while skipping the part about his identity as an exorcist.

"You did a good job. The emotion of fear will turn into nutrients, making the ghost stronger. It is still very weak and cannot hurt people. But if it absorbs more emotions, it may not be possible."

The fat figure who looked like a waiter grinned. In the dim light, there seemed to be some flickering light hidden between the teeth. He stretched out his palm towards Lu Li: "My name is Hades, the exorcist you are looking for."

Lu Li stretched out his palm and said, "I have a question before entrusting you. Apart from exorcists, is there any other way to eliminate ghosts?"

His interested eyes fell on Lu Li: "Do you want to deal with the ghost by yourself?"

"If possible, yes." Lu Li took off the hat that affected his vision and did not deny it.

"You asked the right person. Most exorcists will probably yell at you to stop having delusions. I happen to be in that small group." Hades stooped, took out an object from under the counter, slapped it on the table, and pushed it to the table.

In front of Lu Li.

A short flintlock musket.

Lu Li stretched out his hand, intending to take it, but a palm pressed against the flintlock gun before Lu Li could.

Snapped!

Hades covered the flintlock with his palm, the counter shook slightly, and he grinned, showing a razor-like smile: "This is not free."

"How many."

"Sh2,300."

"2000."

"Okay, consider it a welcome to the newcomers."

After discussing the contents of the transaction in a few words, Lu Li took out four 500 shillings and handed them to Hades. The latter took them with the palm covering the flintlock gun and counted the 2,000 shillings, then counted them, then counted them again, and then counted them again.

past.

Lu Li picked up the flintlock gun lying on the counter, and a faint light suddenly appeared in front of him.

Lu Li raised his eyes and glanced at Hades, who was lighting the oil lamp, and focused his attention on the flintlock gun.
