Chapter 3: The plague is rampant. The grass saves the girl
I was fishing a handful of water in the river. I was about to wash my face, but as soon as the water reached my nose, a slight odor came!
I frowned. I smelled this smell when I was in Laowang Village, and the corpse smelled!
I immediately carried Zhulou and walked along the river. After walking less than four hundred meters, the impact bend at a turn was filled with corpses, including men, women, young and old, and more of them were children and the elderly.
They were all those who died of misfortune due to war, down the river, then accumulated in the impact bend, and began to rot as the weather changed.
"Amitabha," I clasped my hands together and sat slowly in front of them. I had nothing to do, even if I could find a cemetery that fell to them, the only thing was to save them.
"My Buddha is merciful, and the dead rest in peace! The dead return to the west, the dust returns to the dust, the earth returns to the earth, the Western Paradise, but grief, desire, greed and love!"
After reciting the sutra of salvation for a long time in front of the pile of corpses, I got up, carried my bags and continued on the road. I went to the next place again, hoping to use my little power to help them return to the cycle of reincarnation and start their lives again.
But I underestimated the cruelty of the war and even more underestimated the resentment of the dead. Because there were too many corpses and no one dealt with them, the huge smell emitted by the corpse after it rotted created a warm room for mosquitoes, and at the same time brought a terrible disaster, "plague!".
When I arrived at the second village, the plague was flooding, and there were corpses everywhere, and no one was going to deal with it, and the country gave up on them.
"Uncle, has the plague in the village spread?" I asked an old man who looked like he was rushing to travel in a hurry. His face was blue and thin, and he must have not eaten for many days.
"Master, the plague comes from neighboring countries. You can leave quickly. The village is already incredible!" He persuaded, then sighed, lowered his head and continued to drive his way, and people kept running out of the village.
However, the old man had not yet run far away. An arrow roared and shot him to death on the yellow sand with an arrow. Soon a group of people riding tall horses with masks ran over. Wherever he passed, he would wave the knife in his hand to them without hesitation.
"What are you doing? Stop!"
I shouted quickly, and ran up with Zhulou on my back to stop them.
"Huh? Monk?" The leader saw me and grabbed the dark horse. He could not see any expression on his face wearing a mask, but a hint of surprise appeared in his eyes.
"Donor, what did they do? You are so careless about human life?"
"Monk, do you know what disease they are suffering from?"
"What disease?" I asked.
"Smallopsis, a disease that cannot be cured. In order to prevent them from escaping and continue to spread the plague, we were ordered to slaughter the village!"
When I heard that it was the famous smallpox in ancient times. Ancient books recorded smallpox. This plague was almost terminally ill in ancient times. Due to its powerful contagiousness and speed of disease, it was even possible for thousands of years to crack it!
However, in our era, although it was terrible infectious, it was no longer an incurable disease. At least there was an old woman in our village who could use some rumored ancient prescriptions to treat it. The town was vaccinated with something called cowpox, and smallpox has become a legend.
"You can't kill innocent people indiscriminately!" I opposed.
"Monk, do you know how many people have to die if they want to let them go? How many people have left their hometown because of this disaster? It's not that we don't want to let them go, it's really..."
His words made me choke for a moment, and he said it was right. Once it spreads, it would cause a greater disaster.
I really want to tell him that I can treat smallpox, but I can't, because once I take action, I will break the laws of the world in advance and let people solve the infectious disease of smallpox in advance. I really don't know what will happen if I break the rules.
"Okay, monk, get out of here quickly and don't interfere with our slaughtering village!" He said, pulled the horse's head over and rushed into the village with people. I had to let go and watch them reap their lives ruthlessly.
The fire spread in the village, and a trace of black air flowed towards my body. This was a resentment, an aura emitted by extreme resentment. My body automatically absorbed them like a bottomless pit, and then didn't know where to store them.
I sat cross-legged outside the village, and then recited the sutras over and over again, and resentment kept pouring into my body, bringing their sorrow and despair, lingering in my heart like a nightmare.
When the sound of horse hooves sounded around me again, I raised my head and looked at the blood dripping from their scimitar, which looked like scarlet, and the noise was so harsh!
Hearing me chant the Sutra of Sacrifice, the leading man burst out laughing, "This monk, he is also salvation. In this world, money is the only thing that can save people. Wake up, your set of things will not work in troubled times!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the others laughed. They were rampant, without any guilt! It seemed as if the person they killed just now was as light as feathers.
"Cause and effect, you will suffer retribution sooner or later! Amitabha Buddha"
"Stinky monk, do you believe it or not, I will deal with you with one knife?" One of them instantly put the scimitar on my neck and shouted, his eyes that were exposed were cruel.
"Hmm?" The leader stopped his men and looked at me.
"Monk, even if you suffer retribution, it will be a matter for the future. We can only live now. There are many more evil in the world than us. You can go and save them yourself. Let's go!" After saying that, he pulled the horse and roared away with people. I looked at their backs away, and then turned to look at the village where the fire spread. He shook his head and was about to leave. Suddenly, a weak voice sounded in the grass!
"Save, save me!"
After hearing this, I hurriedly ran over with Zhulou on my back, and opened the grass and crawled into a woman. There were a few smallpoxes on her face. I guess she had just been infected. The reason why she was unable to eat was because she was so weak!
"Save, save me," she shouted weakly, looking at me with her eyes tightly. Maybe I am her last hope.
I picked her up from the grass and carried her on my back. She needed an environment away from the village, otherwise the flowers would spread quickly, and her face was covered with mud, so she couldn't see her face clearly!
"Donor, this is some dry food, eat slowly." As I walked, I handed her the food I had made from the old woman.
After taking the food, she did not eat it immediately, but handed half of the petals back to me, and then took only one of them and chewed them into her pocket.
Looking at her series of actions on her back, I was stunned and thought to myself that food was so rare in this dynasty? But how could I know that food was a gift from God to them!
"You have eaten all of you, but you can't have a good meal if you are sick." I handed her the cake she handed back, and at the same time took out a piece of corn bun and handed it to her. She was stunned for a long time before she ate the food in my threatening eyes.
We settled in a deserted temple. I hid her in the dark pavilion of the Buddha statue (there was a small room behind the ancient Buddha statue, which was used to park the remains of the monks), left her all the food and enough water, and then told her that I was going to buy medicine and food. In her uneasy eyes, I carried Zhulou on the road and walked a few miles forward to the city.
