Chapter 12 The Roger Mystery Case

Mito Tsuki is not writing fast, not only because he is not very accustomed to Japanese, but also because manuscript paper needs to be written from top to bottom. This is another very unfamiliar way of writing. There is no way. You can write horizontally in daily life. If you want to submit manuscript paper to the publishing house for formal writing, you must write vertically.

Japanese manuscripts are generally twenty by twenty grids, and the manuscript paper is separated by butterfly prints in the middle. This method is for the convenience of folding the manuscript paper in half. The 400 grids are one page, which is a customary rule gradually established in the Taisho era.

Unlike Chinese publishing, which calculates the manuscript fee based on the number of words, the preliminary manuscript fee for the publishing industry in Japan is calculated based on the number of pages submitted by the author.

So if you use twenty-five by twenty-five manuscript paper, it will be a huge loss for the author, right?

The cost of a page of original materials ranges from several thousand yen, of course this is just an ordinary writer.

For example, there are 400 manuscripts in a book, and the original material for each piece is 5,000 yen, so the initial manuscript materials for the entire book are 2 million yuan.

In other words, as long as a book is favored by a publisher, even if no books are sold after they are officially published, the publisher will pay the original materials to the author, and the subsequent sales dividend is another matter.

But the premise is that the content written should be favored by the publisher.

I don’t know how many works I contribute to the publishing house every year, but there are only a few that can be viewed as published in the end.

However, Mito Tsuki is very confident in the words he wrote, or in other words, is very confident in the original work.

"Roger's Mission"

This is one of the original world novels that Mito Tsuki is preparing to overturn the case - the masterpieces of the mystery master Agatha Christie.

Agatha Christie can be called the master of reasoning, naturally has its own unique side, not only because Agatha's works are the most popular, but also because she can innovate and create many classic new models and scenes of reasoning when her predecessors have written a lot of works.

And "Roger's Mission" is her famous work.

The story of "Roger's Mission" is very "simple".

A rich widow committed suicide. As a doctor, I was called to do some simple help. Then I was invited by a country villa owner to talk to me. The owner of the villa told me that the widow had personally murdered her husband before she died. During this year, the rich widow had been receiving extortion from mysterious characters. During this period, she received letters from the widow, revealing the blackmailer, and told me to leave before she finished reading.

Afterwards, I got home and received a call more than an hour later. The owner of the villa, [Roger], was murdered...

Then a professional detective came to the villa to find out, and called in and out of the villa that night and other people who might have murdered Roger.

Those who were called had reasons to kill Roger.

Roger's brother's widow is short of money and lacks money.

The adopted son's shoes are consistent with the shoe prints near the scene, and people heard unfavorable conversations.

The housekeeper likes to eavesdrop on others' speeches and has had a criminal record of blackmailing...

Everyone here has the motivation and reason for committing the crime and doubt each other.

So far, everything looks like an ordinary mystery novel, without much novelty. It is not until the end that the magical strokes suddenly sublimate and change the entire work.

The detective finally pointed out that the real murderer - it is ‘me’!

As a doctor, I killed Roger, the owner of the villa, and was also a mysterious person who had been blackmailing widows for a year!

And I am also the main perspective of the whole novel story.

"Strange narrative, the pioneering work of narrative tricks." Mizuto recalled the significant impact this work had on the history of mystery novels.

After the publication of "The Roger Mission", this narrative trajectory method was used by countless people. Similar works only felt a huge shock when they were read for the first time, but this did not hinder the great status of the Roger Mission in the history of mystery novels.

Even though the case of the entire novel can only be said to be of medium level, the final unveiling moment instantly sublimates the work.

This main perspective is the narrative method of the murderer, and is undoubtedly a betrayal of traditional natural reasoning.

As a Mito Tsuki who has extensive writing experience, it is very clear that the main perspective of a book, or the "focus character", is a way to convey feelings to readers. In the long ocean of stories, readers can only know what happened during the story travel through the focus characters.

After all, in essence, all stories are subjective rather than objective. Since they are subjective, they need to be as strong as humans. This is especially true for mystery novels. As the focus of the story's vision, the readers create feelings, arousing readers' criticism or empathy for their grief and joy.

In "Roger's mystery", I am the murderer's ending, it is betrayal, it is innovation,

After reading a large number of famous works by famous artists in the world of Koxue, Mito Tsuki found that there are still famous works by Conan Doyle, Edogawa Ranbu and Agatha in this world, but among these works, "Roger's Mystery" disappeared strangely.

Perhaps it is this narrative trick that conflicts with the original and new worldviews of the world of Kexue, just like the opposition between science and magic.

But since Agatha of this world missed this masterpiece, Mito Tsuki didn't mind re-displaying it to the world.

However, the background of the work, character design, etc. all need to be modified, and the entire case is also...

After all, this is Japan, which is about to enter the 21st century, not Britain in the early 20th century.

"The name can no longer be called "Roger's Mission", just call it... "Rihua's Mission". The one who was killed was a rich man with the surname Mihua."

Mito Tsuki sometimes bites the tip of the pen, sometimes uses an eraser to erase the lead type. There are various annotations and changes on the manuscript paper from time to time. Now we are not using electronic office, which is inevitable. If we see manuscript paper from those great writers, it will make people feel even more confused. There are often large pieces of black and messy deletion on it.

Fortunately, Mito Tsuki's fonts more or less make up for the messy feeling caused by the modification, but few of the people who can write on manuscript paper and then provide them to the publishing house should have poor writing.

After working hard for one night, Mito Tsuki wrote twenty-eight pages.

Based on four hundred grids per page, his writing speed can be said to be amazingly fast. After all, this is handwriting, not a keyboard or typewriter.

"I've finished writing one tenth. If I calculate it at this rate, I will continue to write during the day when I'm at school, and I can finish it in less than a week."

I rubbed my fingers, and the bones crackled.
