Section 66: A Press Conference on the Bed
Chamberlain just wanted to go out and buy a newspaper!
When he opened them, he was greeted with a flash of "papa". As he went to cover his eyes, all the reporters began to squeeze forward, and the surging crowd kept pushing him from the door to the room.
This is a press conference that has no preparation for the parties involved. Just like flies, no matter how powerful pesticides are, they cannot be completely exterminated! Chamberlain, who has no place to stand, is standing on his bed for an interview!
"Zhang, what do you think of your performance in yesterday's game?"
"Why did you save O'Neal? Are you no opponents?"
"Zhang, what made you suddenly explode?"...
"Stop, please listen to me, you come one by one, I can't answer so many questions." Looking at Chamberlain, who was constantly stretching forward, could not even hear what they said clearly in such a noisy environment, could only take the initiative to maintain order, otherwise the media that did not get what they wanted would be trapped for a day!
"Then please ask this gentleman to start asking questions first." Chamberlain casually pointed to a man who looked quite elegant.
"Hello Mr. Zhang, I am a reporter from the New York Times. What do you think of your game with the Lakers yesterday?"
"The Lakers are very strong, and we have worked hard to win. Okay, I will answer this lady's question next." Chamberlain was unwilling to say much about the legendary gossip party and answered this question with caution.
"Hello Zhang, I'm a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Do you think it's despicable when you frequently cause O'Neal's fouls during the game?" Chamberlain heard that she was from the Los Angeles Times and raised her eyebrows. Sure enough, the problem was very mean.
"I can't make everyone like me, I can only do not let the fans who support me down. Please ask this gentleman." If Chamberlain had faced such a problem a few days ago, he might have been ashamed, but after David Robinson's arrival, Chamberlain could face it calmly!
"Hello Mr. Zhang, I am a reporter from the Seattle Times. What do you think of Seattle Supersonics?"
"Superonics are a great team, I like Ray Allen." Chamberlain responded politely to this nonsensical question despite being confused.
"Zhang, I am a reporter from the Washington Sentinel. What do you think of Charles Barkley's evaluation of you?"
"Can I ask how Mr. Charles evaluates me?" In Chamberlain's impression, the deepest thing is Barkley's sarcastic tongue, but he still did not dare to avoid this question. If he did not answer, they would have a thousand reasons to slander you!
"He called you a rookie who could be compared with James, Anthony, and Wade."
Chamberlain was surprised to hear such an answer: "I was surprised, but I still have to thank Mr. Charles for his encouragement."
"Hello Zhang, I am a reporter for the New York Times. Mr. Thomas, the Knicks' team manager, said he is very interested in you. Have you received an invitation from New York?"
"Sorry, I don't have an agent, and I love San Antonio." This question made Chamberlain happy, at least someone started paying attention to him.
"Hello, I'm a reporter from Sports Illustrated"......
"Hello, I'm..."
For Chamberlain, this was a disaster day! He was surrounded by this group of reporters for a whole day, without even having breakfast, and had to keep a smile and answer their tricky questions carefully.
After the group of people finally dispersed, it was already past seven o'clock in the evening. Chamberlain only got the time to have breakfast and finally bought the newspaper he wanted!
As expected, the newspapers were full of praise, such as the successor of "Admiral", "The Spurs New Tower", "Who Conquered F4", etc., and even the famous basketball critic Feigan commented on him.
Among these numerous reports, the report of Sports Illustrated allowed Chamberlain to find what he wanted - "When people watched the Lakers and Spurs' game, when people lamented the Spurs' inheritance, what I thought of was the 'Big Dream' Hakeem Olajuwon. The unique soft touch of the Orientals, accurate judgment of rebounds, and flexible footsteps, he even cut off Kobe's pass... If he had his own 'dream footsteps', then this would be another inside line that shocked the league."
"Big Dream" Olajuwon, looking at the report, Chamberlain made a decision!
He was interviewed all day long, which made Chamberlain feel very tired. He had not recovered, but after reading the media reports about him, he fell asleep! He even had a good dream, in which he renewed his contract with the Spurs and dominated the league with Duncan!
In the dream, the night was blurred and the crowded stadium was filled with people, all the fans were shouting his name. In the dream, he became a fat man who was fatter than O'Neal, and no one dared to appear at the basket he guarded. In the dream, his level exceeded 99, and he could even make three points in the second half.
Dreams seem bizarre, but reality is sometimes much more bizarre than dreams!
