Section 12 San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are located in San Antonio, Texas. The team was originally in Dallas. The team was named "Dallas Oaks". In 1970, it changed its name to "Texas Oaks". In 1973, it changed its name to "Spurs" after moving to San Antonio in 1973.

The "Spurs" is an iron spike needle made by a rider on the heel of his shoe. With this as the team name, it can reflect the characteristics of the great development of the United States in the West.

In 1967, the predecessor of the Spurs, Dallas Groves, was established. The team was named after the Groves spanning Texas and Mexico. The Groves became one of the 11 teams in ABA. The team won the second best result in the league that year.

In 1970, the Dallas Groves renamed the State Groves.

In 1971, the state dwarf bushes changed back to their original name.

In 1973, the team moved from Dallas to San Antonio. The public vote resulted in confirming that the new team was named the "spurs" with very Texas characteristics. The Spurs on the horse boots are a must-have for every cowboy.

In 1976, the ABA league disintegrated, and the Spurs, New York Nets, Denver Nuggets and Indian Pacers joined the NBA. As a "transfer student", the Spurs ushered in their first game in the NBA on October 22, 1976, with the opponent of the Philadelphia 76ers. George Gerwen, who joined the Spurs in 1973, encountered Dr. J, but the Spurs won a good start with 121-118.

In the 1977-78 season, Ge Wen became the scoring champion of that year. Under Ge Wen's leadership, the Spurs became the champion of the Central and Western Conference for the first time.

Starting from 1978, although the Spurs won the division championship five times in six years, they did not make any progress in the playoffs.

In 1982 and 1983, although the Spurs advanced to the Western Conference Finals, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers led by MagicJohnson. As the "Iceman" George Gervin's condition declined, the Spurs also fell into a trough and became the bottom team in the 1983-84 season. In 1985, Gervin joined the Bulls, and the Spurs, who lost their backbone, set the worst record since moving to San Antonio, completely missed the playoffs.

In 1987, the Spurs selected David Robinson as the No. 1 pick, and the Spurs gradually embarked on the road to a strong team.

In 1990, along with the "Admiral" David Robinson who returned from the Navy, there were famous coaches Larry Brown and Seanelliot (Seanelliott). The star-shining Spurs made an amazing comeback. The regular season wins increased by 35 games compared to the previous season, setting a new record for the NBA. Robinson deserves to enter the Western Conference All-Star lineup. The super center was selected for the NBA's best and best defensive team 7 times, and was selected for the All-Star lineup 10 times, and became one of the 50 superstars in NBA history.

In 1994, "Big Bug" Rodman joined the Spurs, and the team entered the elite teams competing for the championship with his powerful rebounds.
