Chapter 707 Defending Leningrad-Voroshilov's mistakes

"What? What? The German armored troops went to Kotlin? Comrade Tribuz, are you sure you are not drunk?"

When Voroshilov heard the report of the commander of the Baltic Fleet on the phone, his first reaction was that this guy must have been drunk too much. & Chinese & novels. How could the German tank cluster have wings to go to Kotlin Island? How did they go to the island?

"No, I'm not drunk!" The commander of the Baltic Fleet on the other end of the phone line was almost crying. He had few soldiers on hand! Now the main force of the Baltic Fleet had long been taken to Molotovsk by Kuznetsov to join the Northern Fleet, so his commander was empty. Apart from a land brigade, a fortress brigade, dozens of planes, dozens of small boats or old ships, there was nothing left.

Lieutenant General Tributz said anxiously and quickly: "Comrade Marshal, I didn't drink any drinks! Now there are really German tanks on the island... Although I don't know how they came up, they must have come. There are as many as hundreds, at least a tank brigade! You are so good, please send me some reinforcements, otherwise the Kronstadt Fortress will not be able to defend."

Of course the situation is not as serious as this lieutenant general said. Although he had no soldiers at hand, there were still tens of thousands of residents in Kronstadt. They were all very reliable in politics and had military qualities comparable to the Soviet Superman, whose military qualities were comparable to ordinary Red Army soldiers.

"What, what? Hundreds of tanks? A Tank Brigade?" After hearing the report of the lieutenant general, Voroshilov was even more suspicious of the commander of the Baltic Fleet being drunk. How big a tank brigade would be to be deployed, and even the small island of Kotlin could not be opened. If the Germans really wanted to bring a tank brigade to the island, they must have used magic.

As a loyal Bolshevik Party member, Comrade Voroshilov was of course a materialist, and he did not believe in the world's magic. So he did not make a decision to launch a large-scale reinforcement to Kotlin Island, but sent an infantry battalion to the island, and at the same time, he asked two confidant staff to find out the situation. This could be called a slow reaction. It should be the second major mistake Voroshilov made in this Leningrad defense battle.

That's right, it's the second one!

Before this, the red military strategist who was leaning on the Great Wall by Comrade Stalin made another low-level mistake. He hurriedly arranged a Luga defense line centered on the southern line of Leningrad, starting from Shimsk on the west bank of Ilmen Lake in the south, placing along the Luga River, and ending in the north to Jinjishep, the Luga defense line with a total length of about 300 kilometers.

Of course, it is not wrong to arrange the defense line, but it is a 300-kilometer-long defense line! It is difficult to protect the whole line with 1 million soldiers. How many people are there in Voroshilov? There are 5 armies in total, two of which are scattered in the vast northern region, and one of them has just been beaten by the German army and suffered heavy losses. The only thing that can be used is two armies, and they have to deal with the Finnish army's offensive against Karelia.

So Voroshilov could not draw enough power to defend the Luga defense line, and only barely gathered 10 infantry divisions (5 of which were just severely damaged and were seriously under-organized), 3 militia divisions and 1 tank brigade, with a total of only 140,000 to 150,000 people and more than 100 tanks. He wanted to rely on this little force to resist the 18th German Army, which had twice as many tanks and assault artillery as many times as many as possible.

Moreover, the so-called "Luga Line of Defense" is simply a non-existent line of defense, because the German General Qusiral would not give the Soviets enough time to build fortifications.

When the German Marines transported submarines sent tanks, amphibious transport vehicles and hundreds of land commandos to Kotlin, Voroshilov's Luga defense line had been partially broken.

The 8th Panzer Division and the 1st SS Panzer Grenadier Division, commanded by General Ferdinand Charles, had just defeated a tank brigade and an infantry division in Luga City.

In this battle, the Soviet tanks were not only at a disadvantage in quality, but also in quantity. There were as many as 5 German armored battalions, and more than 400 No. 4 H-type tanks that could be activated. The 27th Tank Brigade of the Soviet side only dispatched less than 100 tanks of various types.

Therefore, when it was dawn on August 13, the plains outside Luga City were filled with T-34, kv-1 and kv-2 tanks destroyed or damaged by No. 4 H tanks. In the just-concluded battle, the German army won an overwhelming victory, and the Soviet 27th Tank Brigade was almost wiped out.

The 1st SS Armored Reconnaissance Battalion commanded by Armored Meyer (Kurt Meyer) did not participate in the tank decisive battle that began yesterday evening, but now they are going to set out again, and together with a regiment of Russian Guard cavalry, they searched and advanced towards Chudovo.

When Meier's half-tracked armored command vehicle passed by the battlefield that had just cooled down, he saw a large number of Red Army prisoners of war, either dejected or numb, walking in the opposite direction under the escort of the old white man, the Russian Guards carrying rifles.

"Major, the Bolsheviks failed again. It seems that we will be able to enter Petrograd soon." Makarov, who was riding on the horse, could speak fluent German. He laughed loudly and looked full of confidence.

"It's indeed smoother than I thought." Meier nodded, and then commented: "They (referring to the Red Army) are a bit reckless. The battle last night was completely in vain. According to this style of play, maybe we can enter Petrograd in another week."

"Yes! In another week, we will definitely enter Petrograd!" The elderly bearded colonel Belarus focused his head, then took out a metal wine bottle, sipped himself with a mouthful of vodka, and then laughed.

The optimism of him and Armored Meyer is not unreasonable. In fact, the German army has now entered Leningrad. The island of Cotlin is under the jurisdiction of Leningrad, so the residents on the island are all Soviets with Leningrad household registration!

But entering Leningrad City is one thing, and occupying Leningrad City is another thing.

"Bolshevik Party members, youth members, working class in the glorious city of Kronstadt, family comrades of the Red Navy, now the Bolshevik Party of Kronstadt City calls you: immediately take up all weapons and launch an attack on imperialism and its lackeys who dare to invade the sacred territory of the Soviet Union..."

Voroshilov's reinforcements did not arrive yet, but after asking Leningrad's secretary Zhidanov, the city of Kronstadt, immediately issued a call for battle to all residents.

In the small city of Kronstadt, all the tweeters played the letters to the people of Kronstadt over and over again from 8 a.m. on August 13.

At the same time, there have been many temporary recruitment points with red flags waving on the streets of Kronstadt. There are long queues in front of each recruitment point.

This is not the Pskov rural area, but the hero Kronstadt! All those who can live here are extremely loyal to the Bolshevik Party and the cause of G-ism, who are not loyal enough, and are shot or go to labor reform!

So not only did the men come forward to join the militia camp, but even the women in Kronstad stepped forward to defend the Bolshevik regime with their blood and life. They were not collective farm old ladies who burst into tears when they heard the "Forbidden Spell Master" singing chants, but the families of "Red N" officers who had been bathed in the glory and kindness of the party for a long time. And it was not the "Red N" who did not know what the war was like decades later, but the "Red N" and "Red Second Generation" who were full of heat and were ready to liberate all mankind, and they were almost the same breed as Captain Ribbintrov, the German Superman who had cheated.

So after the German Superman seized the military camp of Kronstad Airport and the 2nd Land Brigade of the Red Navy, they were blocked outside a naval alternate officer school 2 kilometers west of the downtown Kronstadt. The teachers and students of the school were originally Red Navy soldiers. When the German army attacked the airport and the 2nd Land Brigade of the Land Brigade, they also arranged defenses based on the strong western wall of the school. In order to deal with the German tanks, they even dragged several 85mm and 76.2mm anti-aircraft guns outside the western gate of the school, and destroyed two No. 3 tanks and ls amphibious transport vehicles in succession.

Although these inconvenient anti-aircraft guns were quickly destroyed by the 75mm short-barrel guns of the No. 3 tank, the attacks of the German Marine Commandos were still repelled by the Soviets. When Scholz arrived with two or three hundred airborne commandos, another attack launched by the combat cluster commanded by Captain Ribbentrop was just repelled.

"Captain, what's the situation?" Otto Scholz saw Captain Ribbintrov, who was naked and gauze wrapped in his right shoulder in a huge crater (bombed out of the 305mm cannon in the fortress). The unlucky little Ribbintrov poked out half of his body from the tank to command the battle, but was targeted by the Soviet sniper and shot through his right shoulder blade with a shot. However, he refused to step down from the line of fire and took a BV-222 plane back to Tallinn to recuperate, but stayed on the battlefield to continue commanding.
