Chapter 686 Cao Cao votes for Yuan Shao

There are no talented generals in Jingzhou. Several generals Huang Zhong and Wenpin are all from Nanyang County, and Nanyang County is now under Lu Bu.

There is another fatal place in Jingzhou. It is not rich in war horses. Most of the origin of war horses is controlled by Lu Bu. The Jingzhou soldiers have never been able to organize a powerful cavalry team and cannot fight Lu Bu in field battles.

All the factors combined together mean that Yuan Shao’s development towards the north was simply unable to compete with Lu Bu’s powerful cavalry team.

Yuan Shao launched two wars against Lu Bu, dispatching 100,000 troops each time, and was defeated by the Central Army every time.

Yuan Shao was now afraid of talking about Lu Bu. He had already given up his plan to fight Lu Bu in the north and turned to the south. In the past two or three years, he developed his navy army vigorously, and wanted to take advantage of Jingzhou as the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River to capture Sun Ce, located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and then divide the river with Lu Bu and govern it.

Since Yuan Shao was determined to develop south, there must be a capable general in the northern part of Jingzhou to resist Lu Bu's attack.

Yuan Shao originally wanted Yan Liang, and Wen Chou might be a senior official staying in Xiangyang. Later, he thought that Yan Liang and Wen Chou were good at attacking but not good at defense. Although the senior official was good at defense, he did not want him to waste his talents in the rear. Now Cao Cao is here, just let Cao Cao defend in Xiangyang to block Lu Bu's powerful Central Army.

When Cao Cao heard Yuan Shao say this, he understood Yuan Shao's plan. Although Yuan Shao regarded it as a pawn to deal with Lu Bu, he had a stable territory at least. He was very happy and accepted it happily, leading his generals and three thousand remaining soldiers to Xiangyang City.

When Lu Bu learned that Cao Cao had defected to Yuan Shao, he wanted to lead his troops to attack Jingzhou.

Chen Gong advised: "The soldiers were exhausted from fighting for the whole month and had complaints. It would be better to return to Yecheng and accumulate strength for several months. After this winter, when the spring of the next year is warm, they will first lead their troops to take Xuzhou and then Jingzhou. The benefits of the north and south can be saved in one fell swoop!" It is strange that after Chen Gong followed Lu Bu for dozens of days, he no longer mentioned his previous oath with Lu Bu, but focused on Lu Bu's hegemony.

Lu Bu nodded in praise. He remembered Liu Bei who was attached to Tao Qian and said fiercely: "The spring next year will be warm, and Liu Bei will be defeated!"

Guo Jia smiled beside him and said, "Lord, with Liu Bei and Cao Cao's character, don't you think that Liu Bei's dependence on Tao Qian and Cao Cao's dependence on Yuan Shao can't last long? When there is a change within them, we will send troops to attack him again, will we achieve twice the result with half the effort!"

Lu Bu remembered the attitudes of the Mi brothers and the Chen father and son towards Liu Bei in history, remembered Tao Qian's death so quickly, and thought about Liu Bei's vicious means of dealing with Liu Zhang in Western Shu, and seemed to have some insights. He also thought about Cao Cao's original dependence on Yuan Shao's development in history, and later used the emperor to make the princes expand rapidly. Later, he competed with Yuan Shao, and nodded with a smile and said, "That's the story of Han Sui and Song Jian, Liu Bei, Cao Cao, like Han Sui, are all poisonous snakes. Tao Qian and Yuan Shao are all farmers, and they will be retaliated against by poisonous snakes sooner or later."
