Chapter VIII Resignation

Chapter 8 Resignation

International relations is actually a science for diplomacy, and it is indeed rarely used in daily life. Wang Maoru's lecture at Peking University was also very popular at first, and everyone came to his author "The Rise of a Great Power". However, looking up at the campus, people lost their sense of mystery about him. However, now the students are very patriotic and are very curious about foreign relations, so they come to listen to his class one after another.

After briefly finishing the first chapter of "History of Chinese Diplomacy" in one week, we began to talk about "History of World Diplomacy". This "History of World Diplomacy" has a lot more content, covering the history, economy, culture, politics, military and other aspects of other countries in the world. Starting from the leaders, we talked about many strange stories in the West that students had never heard of. It was just a good school, and laughter came from time to time, which made some other Peking University teachers unable to stand it.

Although other teachers were popular, they were not as enthusiastic as him. They were very opposed to him in private. In addition, Wang Maoru was only in school when he had classes and was not in school when he was not in school, which made some teachers even more disgusted. Tang Erhe gathered a group of teachers from time to time to find the principal, saying that Wang Maoru was not conventional and used the classroom as a teahouse to speak stand-ups. However, with the support of principal Yan Fu, no one treated Wang Maoru as anything.

"The French emperor Napoleon was less than 1.7 meters tall. Some people said he was 1.6 meters shorter than everyone here, so he was most afraid of people saying he was shorter. One day, he wanted to take a book on the bookshelf. Because the book was too high and he couldn't reach it, he asked someone to bring a stool to him. At this time, a general who happened to be there said: "Your Majesty, don't carry the stool, let me take it for you, because I am taller than you." "Do you want to say you are longer than me?" Napoleon immediately corrected it. From this, it can be seen that Napoleon did not allow others to offend him, but would not be punished for his words, and our country was punished for his words.

People are like carp crossing the river. Especially during the Yongzheng Dynasty, those who spoke like this general must have been confiscated and their families were exterminated. The main reason why we say that the West is more civilized today is that they will not be punished for their words. There is a proverb in the West that says this. I disagree with your point of view, but I swear to defend your power to speak to the death. When a country does not dare to speak, the truth will not appear. Therefore, you must dare to speak and dare to speak the truth. You may be wrong, but the right path is often taken from the wrong path."

Wang Maoru saliva in the classroom, somewhat similar to the later generations Yuan Tengfei's teaching text. Tang Erhe, who passed by outside, was angry and silent. People on the side said, "Wang Xiusheng's words are vulgar, which is really a shame for Peking University." He also heard that Wang Maoru gave Russian Empress Ye Katerina II. Wang Maoru said that the Russian name is too long. Let's change her name to Ye Er. Ye Er has two aspects in the West, the most remembered, the greed for the land and the pursuit of lovers...

"It's really vulgar!" Tanger shook his sleeves and left.

After a few days, Wang Maoru's good life was over, and he resigned because of the president of Peking University Yan Fu, who was protecting him. It turned out that Yan Fu was able to become the president of Peking University, which was related to the recommendations of Cai Yuanpei, the president of Education, and others. Yuan Shikai himself also hoped that Yan Fu would be the president of Peking University, so he sent Prime Minister Tang Shaoyi to ask Yan Fu to come out several times.

There are three reasons why Yan Fu left Peking University to resign. The first reason was that Yan Fu was smoking big smoke. Among the current teachers at Peking University, he was the only one who smoked big smoke, which was disliked by many teachers. Tang Erhe used this excuse to impeach Yan Fu to the Ministry of Education several times. When the president of education was Cai Yuanpei, Yan Fu was safe. Cai Yuanpei resigned because of disagreement with President Yuan Shikai. The president of education was Fan Yuanlian. However, Fan Yuanlian was not strong in character and was not familiar with Yan Fu. In addition, someone below impeached Yan Fu, so he agreed to Yan Fu's resignation.

The second reason for Yan Fu's resignation was economic problems. Yan Fu always had a stock of Dongqing Railway with 70,000 taels of silver from Russia's Daosheng Bank. The people of the Ministry of Education were jealous of the money and asked him several times but were rejected. Yan Fu hoped to keep the money at Peking University to run a school, but the Ministry of Education and others wanted to move it to the Ministry of Education for it. After Cai Yuanpei resigned, the Ministry of Education sent someone to directly ask Yan Fu to submit the money.

The third reason why Yan Fu resigned was a party-related dispute. Before the Xinhai Revolution, Yan Fu always advocated constitutional monarchy and opposed violent revolution. As the revolutionary trend gradually emerged, Yan Fu became a political enemy of the revolutionaries. In his translation of "Social General Interpretation", he opposed the narrow nationalism call for the Manchu Revolution in 1905. Yan Fu, who was in London, poured cold water on Sun Yat-sen who came to visit, and clearly advocated education to save the country and oppose violent revolution. Since returning to London, Yan Fu published many articles and speeches, spared no effort to promote the emperor

Constitutionalization became one of the spiritual leaders of the constitutional movement, and thus became one of the biggest obstacles to the Democratic Party. At the moment when the two political propositions of constitutional reform and revolutionary republic were confronted by tit-for-tat, given that Yan Fu had a wide social reputation, the revolutionaries had to focus on counterattacking him to eliminate his social influence. Wang Jingwei, Hu Hanmin, Zhang Taiyan, Wei Yi and others published articles to refute some of Yan Fu's views. Cai Yuanpei and Fan Yuanlian, the two chiefs of education, were both radicals in the south. Cai Yuanpei even advocated the abolition of Peking University, which was the protection of Yan Fu.

Yan Fu's resignation also made Wang Maoru feel meaningless at Peking University. After Yan Fu resigned, Wang Maoru came to Yan Fu's house to visit. However, he saw Yan Fu lying on the bed smoking, shook his head and smiled bitterly, and left Yan Fu's house. He then resigned to Peking University, and the president of Peking University was Zhang Shizhao at this time. However, the Ministry of Education was an unpopular. After Yan Fu left, Peking University could not even pay his salary, so Zhang Shizhao naturally refused to come. He ordered the Ministry of Education to be helpless, so he appointed Ma Liang as the acting principal on October 18. At the ceremony of taking office as the acting principal of Peking University, Ma Liang said: "The university is not the big school building, not the year of students."

The age of age is not the great salary of teachers. It is a matter of noble morality and profound knowledge. You must respect morality and concentrate on your studies so as not to let down the three-word quotations of college students. However, it is hard for a good cook to cook without rice. At the end of November 1912, the winter vacation was approaching, and the school's next school year funding was not yet available, so Ma Liang borrowed 400,000 francs from a Belgian bank and agreed to use the school's real estate as collateral. When he learned about it, he told Peking University students to object. When the students heard the news, they also believed that Ma Liang was "stolen and sold school property", so they stood up and attacked him, forcing Ma Liang to resign and leave.

Wang Maoru first wrote a resignation letter to Zhang Shizhao, but a few days later, the principal was replaced by Ma Liang and wrote the resignation letter to Ma Liang. However, a few days later, the principal was replaced by when? After resigning three times, Wang Maoru also created a history. He himself is not short of money, but he just cherishes his reputation, especially being able to be a lecturer at Peking University for a period of time, which can satisfy his inner vanity a little.

When was Wang Maoru's resignation very reluctant to leave? This subject of international relations died just half a year after it was opened. The person who was happiest about Wang Maoru's resignation was not the person who always disliked him. After all, Tang Erhe was disliked Yan Fu, which caused him to implicate him. The person who was happiest was the Japanese artificial Zang Pingliang. He received a letter of request from Yokohama University in Japan, hoping that he could help Yokohama University in Japan invite Mr. Hidesheng to teach at the school, teach international relations, and cultivate diplomatic talents for Japan.

Wang Maoru sighed with the invitation letter, and the domestic parties were fighting each other. A small education department, where conservatives, reformists, moderates, radicals and other factions fought each other. Even the principal Yan Fu was forced to resign from the position of principal. No wonder Zhang Shizhao did not come to take office. But Wang Maoru didn't want to be Professor Lao Shizi, and he received Yan Fu's invitation.

After Yan Fu resigned as the president of Peking University, he joined Yuan Shikai's aide and became Yuan Shikai's aide. Yan Fu recommended Wang Maoru to Yuan Shikai, saying that this person must be valued. Yuan Shikai also knew that the book "The Rise of a Great Power" was also allowed to read it to him. He was quite happy, so he responded to Yan Fu. However, Yuan Shikai was busy with many people and the south became arguing again. Yuan Shikai was busy raising a large loan after the disaster, so he forgot about the invitation of Wang Maoru. Later, Yan Fu reminded him and remembered that Yan Fu took the invitation letter from the president to Wang Maoru, but learned that Wang Maoru had already accepted it.

At the invitation of Yokohama University in Japan, he traveled to Japan and regretted it. After telling Yuan Shikai, Yuan Shikai shook his head and said it was a pity and he didn't say anything else. Indeed, he had a lot of talents, and it was really not bad for this professor. But Yan Fu beat his chest and stamped his feet, saying that Wang Xiusheng was there, he would definitely know how to deal with the Bank of Six Nations. An aide sneered and said that Yan Jidao could not help but take this person too seriously, just a gentleman. Yan Fu stared at his eyes and wanted to go barefoot. Yuan Shikai hurriedly said, "Okay, this person has talent. It's a pity that he went to Japan. When will he come back, Mr. Jidao brings him to see me."
