Chapter 33 Technical Bottlenecks

The function of self-guided offset is itself solidified in the seeker hardware.

The offset program of missile self-conductor head, as a module that must be integrated by all competitive missiles or competitive self-conductor head manufacturers, plays an important role in missile safety control. Simply put, when the missile is about to meet with the target, no matter what type of target it is, it will trigger the distance sensor on the missile, and then stimulate the protection program to enter the evasion route of automatic deviation of the track.

In other words, even if someone gets a competition air-to-air missile and adds a warhead, he has also used the power of the Nine Niu and Two Tigers to crack it, blocking the fire control guide bias module, and at the last moment the seeker will give false target information, driving the missile to off-target, thereby ensuring the safety of the aircraft.

Of course, after saying so much, the current problem is: ifu rules and the "Regulations on Monitoring of Missiles and Guidance Modules" do not allow any organization or individual to privately dismantle competitive missiles and seeker modules; otherwise, they will be treated as violations, and in serious cases, they may even have to enter the shift room.

Thinking of the rigid regulations of the "Surveillance Regulations", Long Yun was naturally speechless. What should he do?

I don’t know if it was influenced by Long Yun’s idea, but Liu Wei looked embarrassed when he saw the captain, but he proposed a solution: “Brother Long, if you really want to see it, we can take the missiles to the testing center. Although it costs a little inspection fee, it is always good to have a little insurance. After all, we have not had a random inspection after receiving this batch of missiles?"

"Is that?" Long Yun didn't stay in the aviation training center for a long time, but he didn't know that there was such a department in the training base. "Okay, let's take a look at the internal structure, so let's go!"

...

At the electronic equipment inspection center of the aviation training base, he filled out a form and made records online. Long Yun and Liu Wei obtained dismantling permission and were allowed to conduct missile dismantling and testing in the laboratory of the testing center.

Unlike the missiles used by the early army, it was not difficult to disassemble the missiles for competitions. After fiddling with special tools in accordance with the instructions, the two of them quickly sent the milky white pl-12 missiles placed on the test bench into several cabin sections.

Sure enough, after disassembling the various modules of the missile, Long Yun could tell for a few glances that this was definitely not the original form of the pl-12 missile when it was in normal service.

Not to mention anything else, just as the seeker in the front fairing of the pl-12 missile body, although Long Yun has never seen the real thing before, he has seen the pictures on the Internet: the narrow cylindrical module is filled with devices, and there is a small flat-slit array antenna with a diameter close to the diameter of the missile. Long Yun is still quite familiar with the missile guidance module.

But now, what was presented to the two of them was just a cylindrical assembly with a very high degree of packaging. The front was protected by transparent material. The part with a little reflective light seemed to be an antenna. It looked like it was a small antenna array that used AESA technology. Although the cylinder behind was not removed, it was picked up with Long Yun's arm strength. The guide module with a diameter of 200 mm and a length of more than 300 mm could be easily lifted by him. It is conceivable how simple the components inside would be.

Found that there must be something famous here, Long Yun suddenly became very curious about it. He planned to disassemble it further, but couldn't find a place to start. It was probably the overall package, and it was not necessary or allowed to open it. And as Liu Wei said, Long Yun probably also had a recognition chip and a sensor to prevent disassembly. In order to monitor the whereabouts of the seeker. Since this is the case, it would be better not to do it easily. Long Yun asked Liu Wei to put the guidance module on the ultrasonic detector in a corner of the laboratory and try to start the ultrasonic detection device.

The guide module of the metal shell cannot see through the structure with general electromagnetic wave perspective, but it is possible to use an ultrasonic detector.

Tune the resonance frequency and probe fitting position, and scan it like a ct for the patient. Long Yun came up and looked carefully at the three-dimensional structure diagram displayed on the screen. Liu Wei on one side was also very curious. Based on his research on electronic devices, he could also see that the structure in the module was extremely simple:

"Sure enough, Brother Long, you see, there is a motherboard inside, plus a power supply module; there are very few chips and components, the biggest one should be a military-grade dsp (digital signal processing) chip, a rom (read-only memory) and a few small discrete devices on the periphery. Oh, and there is also an antenna feed module that is powered together, which is also integrated, and there is nothing else."

"Oh, that's true; I guess the programs are written directly in the programmable dsp, and this is a signal processor."

"No, this is of course the cost is low. By the way, it's useless to disassemble it. There's only a few things inside, and there's nothing to study. If you want to change the guide program, you can't get it in without a burner."

Seeing the perspective results on the screen, there were only a few of them, which were clearly extremely integrated components, Long Yun was a little discouraged.

Such missiles, not to mention the Soviet Union in 1996, and the United States, the world's largest electronic technology level at that time, could not be imitated.

The Soviet electronic technology has always been a shortcoming of its weapon system. Not to mention, the beautiful linear Su-27 is so huge because of the huge N001 radar system weighing almost a ton. It can be pushed up with two Al-31fs with almost awesome thrust at that time. Then the vertical maneuverability is still a certain gap with the F-15. As for missiles, based on Longyun's previous combat experience, the R-27 and R-73, which have been put into production for more than ten years, have failed from time to time. As for the advanced missiles in front of us, I'm afraid I can't even think about it.

With the previous exchange with Major Andre, the "penter flag" Long Yun did not want to look at the electronics industry department of the Soviet Union. He thought that if it was the original R-77, it would probably be put into production and trial in small batches; but there would definitely be no hope for such an integrated product in front of him.

But if you think about it, the r-77 on the market must have a similar streamlined structure. As for the original r-77, it is estimated that except for the Soviet Air Force's arsenal where expired ammunition is stored, there is nowhere else.

——It’s really a tangle, how can this be good?

Should we give up? Active radar guided missiles are a powerful air combat weapon that we don’t care about after launching. Of course, Long Yun is extremely eager to use them. No, we have to think of another way!

Although the guide module lying quietly in the ultrasound scanner can clearly observe the internal structure from the screen, these ordinary parts and assembly under the current technological level are all rare things in the past.

Before, Long Yun studied electromechanical major in school, and he was quite familiar with the electronic equipment and related modules on missiles; but to consider how to copy the available finished products based on the actual missiles on the test bench now, it must be based on the technical level of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, which is completely impossible.

Longyun knows quite clearly that the electronics industry is not an isolated technical field, but can be said to be a microcosm of the modern industrial system: every seemingly simple component needs the support of the entire industry and even cross-industry related industrial foundations. The early industry was large and complete, and the era of a factory taking care of everything was long gone, and the current finished products can be traced back to countless industry departments and product lines.

Take the most important antenna module for example. It is completely different from the original R-77. The commercially available over-visual range missiles use AESA antennas, which can be made quite small in size and are very cheap in price. At the same time, it also has reliability and durability stability that exceeds the original R-77. However, such a small piece of antenna module that looks unpretentious requires starting from basic private O2 purification, and then going down one after another until the final product module that meets the requirements and can be assembled.

In the tortuous production process, if you want to write a single book, you may be able to open a single book; but Long Yun knows that no one has the patience to read such boring things except for professional and technical personnel.

From another perspective, what level of electronic technology was in the Soviet Union in the 1990s?

Long Yun has not specifically studied it, but even from the Su-27s that he took over recently: Not to mention anything else, the disc mechanical instrument in the cockpit alone would make him dizzy if it weren't for conscious perception. He turned on the radar cover in the hangar, and the huge n-001 radar inside and the diameter of the inverted Caseglen antenna was 960 mm, but the typical search distance for heavy fighter targets (such as the F-15) was only about 110 kilometers. Although it has made great progress compared to the single-pulse "artifact" with vacuum tubes on the early G-25, the performance and reliability are indeed difficult to satisfy - if it were not always constant temperature and humidity, and frequent maintenance, it is common to drop the chain at critical moments.

Long Yun had suffered such a loss before with the Soviet Union's electronic technology shortcomings, and of course he was very impressed. Sometimes he even suspected that the R-27 missile that was fired when using the MiG-29 was so poor, how many factors did the enemy planes successfully avoid it?

Based on his pessimistic estimate, it is probably due to the drift error and accumulation error of the seeker, or the radar: with the r-27's warhead kill radius, as long as the guidance calculation deviation exceeds ten meters, the enemy plane will basically be unharmed, let alone missiles whose seeker fails and are completely unknown.

In short, after thinking for a long time, Long Yun concluded that the high-tech missile placed in front of him was definitely not something that could be manufactured at the Soviet Union's electronic level at that time.
