Section 17: The KGB meeting

In fact, in this world, there are many things Long Yun doesn’t know.

That night, a secret meeting was being held in an inconspicuous office building, a mysterious incident that had occurred along the Baltic Sea coast.

In the small office, a few people sitting scattered around the oval conference table. Unlike the bureaucratic meetings, which are surrounded by clouds and mist, a small discussion meeting is being held here, and the host asked everyone to report only specific and valuable content. At this time, he was asking the department head around him to be responsible for the investigation.

"How is Captain Rezenov's situation?"

"The Warsaw has sent a report. The recording file is on the computer, but there is not much new content." The head of the investigation department with a blank expression took the printed stack of materials in his hand. "At present, we can basically confirm that Rezenov has temporarily fallen into partial amnesia after experiencing this incident."

"So, is there any progress in the crash of the 14th plane?"

"Not yet. The on-site investigation report pointed out that the pilot of the aircraft may have fallen into a coma in the air, and the aircraft then flew under the action of an autopilot until it failed and crashed at the crash site. Due to a fire after the crash of the No. 14 fighter plane, the pilot's body has been burned out, and the reason for the crash cannot be checked. The survey found no traces of the aircraft being hit by a weapon; the data of the flight recorder matched the report's speculation, although the records were not very complete."

No one continued to speak, and the scene fell silent for a moment.

The special commissioner of the State Secret Intelligence Group who presided over the meeting was a little absent-mindedly flipped the materials in his hands.

These materials can't explain anything: an invasion of UFOs, the National Air Defense Force and the Frontline Air Force dispatched interception, and then lost a MiG-29, another was injured and returned to the base, and the pilot partially lost his memory. The whole thing seemed quite normal; but logically scrutinized it would be another matter.

The report sent by the National Air Defense Force recorded that at around 4 pm on March 19, the automatic interception system of the Baltic Sea air defense zone received a signal of jingjie. The long-range jingjie radar of the "Bochaola River" located on the western border found that a flying object was approaching from the southwest and was about to appear over the Baltic Sea, with the possibility of invading the Polish border.

The Soviet Union's automatic interception guidance system was fully automatic. At the same time as the command center received the report, the interceptor troops located in the Belarusian Republic also received excellent reports of enemy aircraft invasion. In the western part of the Soviet Union, where the rank of the high-quality rating, the occurrence of excellent reports means interception. Two su-15tm of the 17th Air Regiment of the National Land Defense Force immediately took off to the target area.

At almost the same time, the 309 Aviation Fighter Regiment stationed in eastern Poland also received an order from the command center. Because the target was very fast and came directly to the coastline, the 309th Regiment ordered the 309th Regiment to dispatch fighters to participate in the interception, and it was necessary to intercept local aircraft outside the territorial waters. Four MiG-29s were dispatched immediately and advanced to the northwest to catch the enemy. The situation was still normal so far; however, shortly after the two batches of fighter jets attacked one after another, the echo of the enemy aircraft reflected on the radar suddenly became blurred, and then mysteriously disappeared.

Not only that, the Su-15tm, the Land Defense Air Force, which originally intercepted the ground guidance station signal, inexplicably lost tracking of the target when it flew to about fifty kilometers away from the target.

Although the guidance information shows that they should have encountered the target at this time, the pilot of the su-15 did not find any suspicious signs, whether on the radar or in the naked eye. However, at this time, the 309th Regiment reported to the command center that the fighter jet they sent had encountered the target, but was seriously intercepted and unable to effectively intercept...

Then all the messages disappeared.

After 40 minutes of trek, the Su-15 twin aircraft of the National Land Defense Air Force returned unsuccessfully, but fortunately they finally returned to the base successfully. In contrast, they were quite lucky: a group of mysterious G-29 twin aircraft of the 309 fighter regiment encountered an unknown incident, and then only one amnesia pilot barely returned to the base.

All of this is so weird, isn't it?

Of course, unlike some departments, the KGB has no particular interest in the bizarre events that took place on this vast land, no matter how incredible its records are. Perhaps there will be a department responsible for investigating these matters; perhaps not. But no matter what, the KGB's responsibilities are not here.

However, now, considering that the invading NATO aircraft will disappear on the screen of the long-range radar, and at the same time, it will avoid one wave of interceptors, hurt another wave of interceptors, and finally disappear in the dim night sky, this is a major event related to national security, and a clear investigation conclusion must be made. If this indicates that NATO has another new weapon - such as a new type of fighter that can avoid the detection of the Jingjie radar, it at least means that it has a huge loophole in its work in intelligence agencies in Europe and North America, which is the ultimate defense line for national security. This is something that the KGB cannot tolerate at all.

But... although I am unwilling to admit it, the current investigation has reached a dead end.

These days, scattered intelligence from Europe has confirmed that fighter planes took off from a Denmark air base that afternoon and headed west, which also confirmed that the report submitted by the Land and Air Defense Force is not false. But now, except for an amnesia pilot, there are no other investigation targets, which makes people very embarrassed.

After all, Captain Rezenov, as a pilot, was able to fly the damaged MiG back to the base, which shows that he is very capable and there is not much reason to doubt him. Although the KGB often questioned everything for work needs, it was not his own work style to rashly investigate his Air Force officers.

Wait. This Rezenov... this name looks familiar. Who is he?

Oh, the agent knocked on his forehead. He remembered the air force lieutenant who had given up his senior position in Moscow and went to the frontline to serve the Fighter Aviation Regiment? He seemed not to be a captain. But this was not important. The agent thought vaguely that he had mentioned this name in a file he had handled.

Maybe they are the same person?

If so, there may be some connection between this matter and the previous records.

At this sensitive time, the Soviet Union's strength is no longer as strong as before. Whether its motherland can withstand the pressure from the West may also be crucial for the incidents it is responsible for.
