Chapter 125: Family Chronicles

After lunch with great worries, Long Yun wanted to be alone and remained quiet.

Just in the afternoon, Shangguan Ling didn't want to go back to his room to rest, so he asked him to accompany him to the manor's library for a moment.

Walking on the path leading to a building next to the main building of the villa, the dullness that I had just been in the restaurant gradually disappeared. The faint smell of grass in the air made Long Yun feel a little refreshing.

There is actually a database of books and documents in such a manor. It seems that it is indeed quite old.

When you walk into the three-story building, Long Yun feels a cooler in the hall. I remember that the buildings in this manor rarely have air conditioners, probably the design of old-fashioned buildings, and may also have the effect of cooling the basement.

Looking up, the high atrium is surrounded by wooden fences, and neat bookshelf can be seen on each floor. Of course, these should be ordinary old books. As for those rare rare books, according to Shangguan Ling, they are all stored in the closed bookshelf in the basement.

Following Shangguan Ling up the stairs, Long Yun picked up a place by the window and pulled open the chair and sat down.

Sitting down in the cool library, Long Yun felt that there was nothing to do at first, and he soon had to immerse himself in the shocking discovery in the morning, but reason told him that he could no longer circle around it.

But what if you don't want it?

The temporary fabrication of the drug dealer's story did help him temporarily get rid of the pain of thinking, but he himself was not very confident. Sitting on the wooden backrest chair by the window tiredly, feeling the wind blowing through the hall, Long Yun gradually formed an idea, he felt that this was the only thing he could do now.

If, just if, the bullet was really caused by himself shooting in a parallel world, then there should be more than one trace. In other words, in a parallel world, they had just experienced fierce battles. If these events actually left a mark in reality, then he should be able to find some other evidence in Brittany Manor.

Perhaps just twenty-three years ago, this place was indeed a branch of CIA, and it might be that there was indeed a fierce battle?

The things in history textbooks and documents may not be reliable, and Long Yun is still very clear about this. The only thing he can do now is to personally examine whether this idea is correct or not.

Thinking of this, Long Yun stood up and walked towards Shangguan Ling hesitantly, thinking about whether to wake her up from reading.

The book stall was stunning on the table. Shangguan Ling looked calm, and only her eyelashes trembled from time to time. Seeing this scene, Long Yun couldn't help but feel a little confused. He stood beside Shangguan Ling. After a while, he couldn't make a sound and called her; until she breathed a sigh of relief and looked up inadvertently.

"Ah--!" Suddenly, Shangguan Ling's body trembled, and both of them were startled by the other party.

"——What the hell! You scared me, Long Yun! What are you doing here?"

"I, I..."

Recovering from the dullness just now, Long Yun became stupid and clumsy. He didn't know what happened to him just now. Was he worried about disturbing her and being scolded for reading? Or was he confused by the girl's expression?

"If you have something, just say it. If you have nothing to do, don't be scary like this."

"Oh! That's right," Long Yun found that he suddenly stopped stuttering, "Miss Shangguan, you and Camille are good friends. Do you know the history of their family? Did their family live here all the time?"

"This?" Shangguan Ling thought for a while, probably because he didn't find any answer in his memory. "I don't know much. Why are you asking?"

Faced with the questioning, Long Yun was a little speechless. He felt that his request was indeed a bit unreasonable. But curiosity, or concerns about that matter, had occupied his mind, so without thinking, another pile of endless nonsense came out casually.

"Actually, I think the architectural style of this manor is very interesting. You see, the building we are now in is a typical Rococo style. However, the main villa is a bit romantic and mixed with some retro designs from the Renaissance. This is not very interesting? I initially speculate that this building was earlier than the main building. I want to ask whether their family has always been the owner of the manor, but I just want to study it."

Sure enough, when such a bunch of foggy words were said, Shangguan Ling widened his eyes and looked at him in confusion.

Isn't Long Yun a pilot who just got his flight license? But after contacting these days, I feel like he has a wide range of knowledge: what history, weapons, and architectural styles are there; I don't know what this person usually does, is it okay for him to think randomly like this?

"——Oh," he was a little convinced by Long Yun's trick. Shangguan Ling stood up and looked at it. "Actually, there is no need to ask Camille and others. Here are the chronicles and other detailed information of their Steele family, and I can check it for you."

With Shangguan Ling, who is proficient in many languages, Long Yun is desperate to ask for help. He quickly and diligently helped her take out the old documents from the file cabinet and check them out item by item.

But in the end, when Long Yun heard the conclusion given by Shangguan Ling, he was a little confused.

"Do you care about the ownership of this manor? Since the 18th century, it was temporarily requisitioned during the period when Vichy was removed (a French puppet regime supported by Nazi Germany during World War II). The manor has always belonged to the Steele family, and there has never been any interruption in the middle."

This answer made Long Yun feel inexplicably relieved, but he was also a little disappointed. Perhaps he was still unwilling to give up, so he further asked:

"So, in the 1990s, were there any armed conflicts or serious public security incidents here?"

"Armed conflict?" Shangguan Ling looked at Long Yun's face. She thought the question was really weird. "I want to ask the sheriff, but, what do you ask about this? Study the architectural style and also consider the violent incidents that have occurred near the building? - Oh, I understand, you are studying the bullet dug out. - But why are you studying that bullet? I mean, are you an agent sent by the state to perform missions? Did I mean that I am just a prop for you to sneak into France, and are now unconsciously assisting you in investigating a unsolved case from how many years ago?"

Obviously, the more he talked, the more outrageous he became, Shangguan Ling put together the old files in his hands and stood up excitedly to face Long Yun.

"Long Yun, please stop thinking about it anymore. How about doing a promising job of guarding first?"

"Ah, this--" Long Yun was completely stunned by Shangguan Ling's words. He looked at Shangguan Ling with wide eyes and a undulating chest in a daze. His slight anger not only did not damage his beautiful face, but also added a bit of heroic posture.

Thinking about the fact that her request was indeed a bit unreasonable, Long Yun waved her hand gently to tell her not to be so emotional.

"Okay, I get it."
