Chapter 171 Chapter 171

Andre sat on the secondary hatch on the turret, feeling the bumps of the tank body, and shaking his body as the body shaking. On the side, Renn leaned against the captain's unique hatch cover that opened backwards, closing his eyes to rest.

On the side of the highway, trucks drove forward at a faster speed. From time to time, a truck of soldiers were chatting and laughing by these new tanks, and waved to Andre. Because there were too many vehicles moving on the highway, there was a smell of dust in the air.

Tanks, cars and armored vehicles could drive forward on the highway, and those light infantry could only carry their rifles and compete with the wet mud on both sides of the dusty road. They were staggering, and many people were dragging their luggage.

The formation of these troops was already a little messy. Some soldiers even wore white vests and placed their uniforms between their shoulders and rifles. Of course, some people were holding dogs, some people were pulling listless war horses, and more were pulling carriages piled up with mountainous supplies and trapped in the mud, with the surroundings full of national defense soldiers helping to push carts.

I don’t know if it was because of the bumps or if I heard some sound, Renn opened his eyes while shaking. He took out his graduation memorial pocket watch and took a look at the time with the faint rear lights: 12:36.

There are still 4 minutes left before the specified rest time.

So he grabbed the big headphones and throat telephones hanging on his armed belt, put them on his head, and adjusted the position. Except for the hissing radio waves, there were all kinds of complaining sounds inside.

"Stop!...stop!...stop!...stop!...stop!...car commanders...go to the front...to gather!" At 12:40, an order came from the headphones on time.

Sometimes Ren really wants to complain to the radio manufacturer. What if this is on the battlefield, if this call quality misses any important order? As the tank troops stopped moving forward, many soldiers on the dirt road looked earnest, and some even walked directly on the road and handed cigarettes to these tank crews, hoping to take them for a while during the next journey.

Soon, the kitchen team began to distribute food to various car groups. The steaming tomato soup, potatoes and black bread made the infantry on both sides envious, and they all looked eager to get a share of the pie.

When Renne came back, the entire tank unit resumed its advance. Behind the tank's turret and above the engine's cooling port were three lucky National Wehrmachts, observing their SS colleagues with curious and cautious eyes. They were at ease with the treatment of mechanized infantry because they paid the fare - a full two packs of cigarettes.

"In another two hours, we will arrive at the border, which is almost the same as the guess. Just now, the Empire has declared war with Poland." The tank shook again, but Renn did not continue to close his eyes and rest, but instead spoke to Andre with a rare opportunity: "We have about three hours of rest, and then we may be in the battle."

"We haven't conducted systematic training yet, commander." Andre glanced at Rennes beside him and sighed, "Just go to the front line like this, we will kill many people, including ourselves and friends."

"There is not enough time to train." Rennes said helplessly: "But the good news is that the Polish army on the border is not large in number and lacks heavy weapons. In other words, they do not have many weapons that can threaten us."

"Although this tank is very heavy - you can feel it from the ruts and the feeling when parking. But there are so many things that allow us to see God. If the distance is close enough and the angle is just right, a heavy machine gun is enough." Andre said, staring at the front.

Not far ahead, a bulky drag-and-drop 150mm caliber cannon was trapped in the mud. More than a dozen soldiers around were shouting slogans to push the cannon. Behind the cannon, two military jeeps were parked, and a radio was piled on it.

Andre didn't see it, but Renn saw it from the angle. The three National Defense Army soldiers sitting behind their car saluted at the jeep. It seemed that the two cars belonged to the command system of the infantry unit.

Hearing Andre's words, Renn laughed: "According to the above analysis and the information from the reconnaissance troops, I heard that the Poles' resistance was very slight."

This is a common problem with the newly established three SS troops, but they also have their own advantages. First of all, although these troops have not been trained, they have been incorporated into many retired military personnel of the National Defense Forces, and their combat capabilities should be quite reliable; secondly, they have very powerful weapons and equipment in their hands, which is slightly more important.

"The most unbelievable thing is the analysis above, followed by the information feedback from the reconnaissance troops." Andre said with a frown.

"You don't seem to take these seriously, which means you have suffered a loss in this regard." Renne said with a smile: "Would you like to talk about it?"

Andrei laughed: "There is nothing to keep secret. I wonder if you have heard of the actions in Sudetenland?"

"Yeah!" Renn nodded: "I heard that some areas have fought back, and many people have died in battle."

"At that time, I was the second lieutenant of the National Defense Force, commanding a No. 3 chariot platoon." Andrey stared at the front with his eyes and said slowly in the face of the mighty style: "The superior's order is that we will go and receive a Czech tank company stationed on the border."

"There shouldn't be resistance, but it happened. The No. 2 car blocked me was hit by the Czech 38t tank, and thick smoke blocked my view... When I ordered the reverse, I saw one of my chariots climbing out of the No. 2 car, with flames burning on his face, like a demon from hell." Andre looked at Renn: "Have you ever seen a dead person?"

"There are always small people who take the blame, so you are fired, right?" Rennes said while swaying as the tank swayed, "I'm glad to know you, Lieutenant."

"I answered your question. Can you answer me a question?" Andrey looked at Renn and asked.

"Of course." Renne nodded.

"Why don't you say something?" Andrey asked seriously at Renn.

"What are you referring to?" Renn frowned and asked.

"I'm off-target." Andre replied.

"This is a matter. I have a full mark when shooting fixed targets in school. Since I can do it, why do I want you, the gunman?" Ren smiled.

Andrei also smiled, following such a car captain - it was very interesting.

When they stopped to camp, the entire tank company was already in Poland. They set up tents on the ruins of a border highway checkpoint. Several people in the company stood by the roadside in a daze, because they saw more than a dozen Polish soldiers who had been carried to the roadbed below the highway and were thrown there.

However, most of the people chose to sleep because after the middle of the night, they were exhausted and needed to recover their strength and maintain their energy to face the first battle to meet them tomorrow morning.

Before dawn, battalion commander Hans summoned all the commanders of his company and assigned them a combat mission to start for a while.

"Marcus! Rennes! You two crews are responsible for covering Captain Carter's tanks, following his tanks to attack the villages next to the road, where the Poles may have set up defense bases, so you must cover armored grenades to capture it."

"Air force reconnaissance shows that the Poles are strengthening their border defense, so your attack on the village must be fast!" After pointing to the map to introduce the basic tasks, Battalion Commander Hans summarized while folding his map.

"Sir!" Marcus raised his hand and asked, "How many infantry are following us? How far will we go after we take the village and stop?"

Hans laughed and patted the dust on his pants with the map in his hand: "The two companies of the 1st Battalion of the 5th Armored Grenadier Regiment will follow you to attack! After taking down the village, some infantry will be left to guard. As for us, the task I received is very simple, try to move forward."

After receiving his mission, Renne rushed back to his tank No. 113. Along the way, he saw German grenadiers loading ammunition into his rifle, and some people were jumping on armored personnel carriers.

"Clark! Put some ammunition together! Including those three submachine guns!" As soon as he got back to his chariot, Renn began to issue orders: "In addition, check the radio station again! I need to keep communication with the company commander's car open."

Then he called the driver of his chariot loudly: "Bowman! Start the engine! Test the throat telephone! I need you all to hear me."

Then he looked at the gorilla-like blues beside him and pointed to the ammunition compartment next to him: "Bruce! Choose a high-explosive grenade! Our mission this time is to support infantry attacks, and there is no threat from enemy armored troops. But you'd better find an armor-piercing bullet to put it in a convenient position! Just in case."

Bruce was usually silly and was not optimistic about the young Rennes, but he would still execute such a normal order. After all, the training he received was to cooperate to survive on the battlefield. So he nodded, pushed a grenade into the barrel and closed the barrel bolt.

Renn, who stuck his upper body out of the car, raised his telescope and looked into the distance. The thick fog was covered with a mysterious veil in the early morning of the day.

Not far away, Carter's No. 111 tank started, and a stream of black smoke spewed out of the rear of the car. As the tracks were tightened, the entire tank slowly moved forward.

Immediately afterwards, Marcus, the captain of the No. 112 tank, nodded to Rennes, gestured a fist, and then began to slowly move forward as his chariot shaking.
