Section 914 The Sweet Trip to America

After leaving Paris, France, Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu came to the United States.☆→ Most of the people who walked away saw the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, and the strong voices of the world's largest country were often the first words that came to mind when everyone mentioned the United States.

However, putting aside all this exaggeration, this land on the American continent is exactly the most worth savoring. This journey of Yunluo will span the central United States, and the main sightseeing are those unique national parks and natural wonders, and experience the strange scenery of different landforms of the American continent.

So Yunluo wanted to show the most primitive and real American continent from the perspective of Yunluo's travel, so that Yunluo temporarily forgets the world's largest economy, this technology power, and this military overlord, and return to nature, to the primitive, and to that naked American continent.

During the preliminary preparation process, Yunluo did a lot of homework, formulated a lot of plans, and finally came up with a plan that he thought was quite reasonable.

The entire self-driving trip lasts about fourteen days, departing from Illinois, passing Kansas and Colorado to the south, heading north along Utah, after visiting Yellowstone Park, returning east, passing South Dakota and Iowa, and finally returning to Illinois. The entire trip will visit five national parks.

I will also see several attractions in the small town page of Arizona. The total itinerary is about 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers), which sounds crazy. Yun Luo has long dreamed of such a trip, and was a little excited to sleep the night before it was about to be realized.

The day before departure, Yunluo went to the airport car rental office to rent a Chevrolet Impala. This large front-wheel drive sedan is really spacious. The trunk can be said to be the largest of the sedans Yunluo has ever seen. It is no problem to lie in both of them. But this model that has not been modified for many years still has many inhumane designs.

For example, the control is not easy, the driver has too little storage space and is too small, the dashboard shows insufficient data, etc. However, there is nothing to complain about for only a low price of 500 US dollars in two weeks. The price performance is really good. When I first got the car, it only ran more than 6,000 miles. It can be said that it had just finished the running-in period, and the car still had the smell of a new car.

After driving the old used car for Yunluo for so long, Yunluo enjoys the feeling of driving a new car every time he rents a car. Although the car is big, after stuffing the items Yunluo and Yan Chenyu need this time, he instantly felt that the car was full.

In addition to two suitcases and two travel bags, the car also carries camping tents, folding chairs, freezers, various blankets, quilts and pillows, plus drinks, snacks and a lot of messy travel supplies, making the car a mobile home.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, I drove on Highway 70, carrying the supplies and expectations for travel. There was no arrangement of attractions on the first day, and the scenery I admired was nothing more than a large area of hills and fields outside the window. However, the excitement at the beginning of the journey made Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu completely forget the boredom and fatigue of driving from a long distance.

In the evening, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu arrived in a small town called Hays, Kansas, and lived in the Super 8 Express Hotel next to the highway exit. That night, there was no cloud in the sky, and the clear sky was particularly dazzling. There was also a family who checked in the hotel with Yunluo and Yan Chenyu. Two parents brought three children of similar age. Seeing their equipment, they also took their children to experience the wild life. The happiness that seeped out of the five people made Yunluo particularly impressed.

Shortly after starting from Hays, you will cross the state border to Colorado. Colorado's altitude is gradually rising and it is rising all the way. Denver is the capital and largest city of Colorado, and one of the economic centers of the entire western United States. It has a population of more than 600,000 (it can only be considered a small city in China).

Denver is close to the Rocky Mountains, and compared to the scenery around it, there is nothing worth staying in this city for a long time. Yunluo personally thinks that except for world-famous metropolis such as New York and Los Angeles, other so-called "big cities" in the United States are the same and have no characteristics. The attractions in the city are nothing more than zoos or aquariums with various gimmicks.

Occasionally, some "historical relics" are also small historical events that only occurred in the last century, and are not worth visiting specifically. Denver is the same, it was built in 1956. It is younger than Xinhua Capital. It relies on Colorado's rich oil and gas storage, and is a product of the great development period of the United States in the western United States.

Although there are no attractions to see, big cities mean there may be delicious food. There is a Japanese cuisine called Dotou, which is on the edge of downtown Denver. From the white lime walls on the periphery, it is completely unstoppable. It is a very uniquely decorated Japanese restaurant, but when you enter it, you will immediately feel like you are in Japan.

There is a tree-lined courtyard in the restaurant. The small bridges, flowing water and pavilions in the courtyard are all pure Japanese style. When you enter, you will feel the urge to speak Japanese. The food here is also great. The Japanese noodles and beef and rice are very similar to the taste that Yunluo has eaten in Japan. After eating, you will feel a huge sense of fullness.

After lunch, Yunluo came to the home court of the Denver Nuggets and took a few photos. He satisfied the selfishness of Yunluo, a hardcore NBA fan, and continued to rush west. In order to have more time to visit Arches National Park tomorrow, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu chose to live in Grandjunction City, which is only an hour and a half drive from Arches Park.

But before going to grandjunction, a small situation happened: Yunluo's car reminded Yunluo to change the engine oil. Here I strongly criticized the budget car rental company. Before Yunluo rented a car, he told them that Yunluo had to drive thousands of miles and needed to change the engine oil for Yunluo in advance. They agreed but still gave Yunluo a car that needed to change the engine oil immediately.

After driving for only two days, it was only a thousand miles away, and the car couldn't move. Yunluo was very angry. Yunluo immediately called the car rental company, and they said they could find a local budget rental point to change a car for Yunluo for free. Although they were very polite to each other, Yunluo still wanted to scold in his heart: How long does it take for me to fuck me?

I searched online on my mobile phone and found that there was a budget company's car rental spot in grandjunction airport. It closed at 10 o'clock in the evening. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu could arrive at grandjunction in the afternoon. So I had time to change it. But Yunluo was still very unhappy. There was so much luggage in the car that had to be reinstalled, and a lot of time and energy wasted.

Along the way, Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu scolded the budget half-death. But then I thought about it, the unknowns encountered during the journey were also part of the trip. Although the road after passing Denver had many bends and had great ups and downs (because I entered the Rockies). The scenery was really beautiful.

All the hills were covered with tall and neat coniferous trees. The gurgling Colorado River flowed through the foothills, accompanied by large snow-white clouds. The whole picture was beautiful. Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu found a viewing spot next to the highway and stopped. When they picked up the camera, they made a rake.

The beautiful scenery made Yunluo and Yan Chenyu temporarily forget the problem of the car. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu enjoyed it for a long time before they set off again. When they arrived at grandjunction, they were almost dusk. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were hungry, so they used their mobile phone to find a Chinese restaurant called "Zenyuan" to prepare for dinner.

As soon as he entered the door, the boss greeted him enthusiastically in Chinese: "Where did you come from?" "China." "Where did you come from the United States?" "Oh, Illinois..." The boss judged that Yun Luo could speak Chinese based on his feelings. So he asked before Yun Luo could speak.

The boss is very friendly, he looks about 60 years old, and he is from Malaysian wife. When he heard that a Chinese-speaking guest came, he quickly came from the kitchen to greet Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu. It seems that he doesn't often see Asian compatriots here. The two Asian-faced travelers made them very excited.

The old couple came to the United States more than 30 years ago and opened a Chinese restaurant. They lived until their hair was gray. The boss said that the natural gas resources in grandjunction were about to be exhausted, so they became lonely day by day. The city was no longer as prosperous as before.

This is also what Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu saw when they first entered the city. It looked like an old industrial city. There were no people in such a huge place. The quiet and empty buildings looked like ruins.

Yunluo has traveled to so many cities in the United States, and this is no longer the first city like ruins. The desolate impression of cities such as Detroit and Cleveland is still preserved in Yunluo's mind. The aging of a country is slowly devouring its prosperity.

Leaving the "Zen Garden", Yunluo and Yan Chenyu went to grandjunction's airport to change their cars. What disappointed Yunluo and Yan Chenyu was that there were no ready-made cars at this car rental site, and all of them were booked. The staff asked Yunluo and Yan Chenyu to go to another car rental site in the city center tomorrow morning to ask.

Yun Luo was so disappointed. It was already time to hurry up and it was going to waste the morning. Anger surged into his heart: "Wait until you go back and complain to you!"

Yunluo and Yan Chenyu set out early from the Grandjunction hotel, with the goal of solving the problem of the car as early as possible. Today's main task is to visit the Archmen National Park - the first national park in Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's trip. It was only arranged for this park for one day, so we must hurry up and get the car done.

Another budget car rental site in grandjunction is located in a shopping area in the city center. When I went there in the morning, all the shops had not opened, but the car rental window had already opened. After learning about the situation of Yunluo and Yan Chenyu, the staff told Yunluo that they had just taken back an impala and could replace Yunluo and Yan Chenyu.

Yunluo breathed a sigh of relief while asking her to confirm that the car's oil would not have any problems anymore, because Yunluo and Yan Chenyu would have three or four thousand miles away next.

It was already past nine o'clock after changing into the new car. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had to drive for more than an hour to the Gongmen National Park. The newly replaced Impala is a luxury version of the previous car, but it is a little older than the previous one and has already run more than 18,000 miles. The solution to the vehicle problem made Yunluo feel much more relaxed, and he felt that driving this one was easier than the previous one.

The sun is not visible in the morning sky, and the thick clouds are completely invisible. The weather forecast says that the underground thunderstorms of Arches National Park will be intermittent today, making the clouds very nervous. The park is a landform of the Great Gobi Desert without any obstruction. It is not a joke to encounter lightning, and the rainy weather will also affect the mood of the tour.

Arches National Park is located in Utah and is one of the most famous national parks in the United States. There are more than 2,000 stone arches in the park, with different shapes, but they are all spectacular. After arriving at the park, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu went to the Visitor Center first. The Visitor Center in the American National Park is worth staying, which is not only souvenir shops and exhibitions.

There will be explanations on the formation of the landform in the park, and the managers in the park will also help you formulate a tour plan according to your schedule. All managers are geographers who have a deep love for the park, and their suggestions are worth listening to.

Based on their suggestions and Yunluo’s homework done in advance, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu quickly formulated a tour route. There are two arches in the Archmen National Park that must be seen, one is called "Landscape Arch".

It is the longest arch, with little left on the top of the arch and may collapse at any time, so it is likely that it will disappear if it is said to be gone; the other arch is a landmark throughout Utah (it is printed on the license plates of all Utah registered vehicles), called the "Exquisite Arch".

Both of these require hiking and climbing to see. The landscape arch takes half an hour to walk, the exquisite arch takes nearly two hours, and the road is rugged and difficult to walk. The exquisite arch is the best place to watch the sunset. Many photography enthusiasts come to take pictures of it in the evening when it is burned red by the sunset, so Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu plan to see it at the end.

Other famous arches, like north windows (northwindow, southwindow), are all on the side of the road in the park. You can see it by stopping the car, which is easier.

The reason for the formation of the arch is quite interesting. Countless years ago, there was a vast ocean here, and a thick layer of salt was precipitated on the bottom of the sea, covering the salt with a soft layer of stone and soil. Later, the seawater receded, and the salt slowly piled up with external forces, which squeezed the layer of stone and soil covering it into an arc.

After the sea water completely subsided, the land here was eroded by wind, washed by rain, and all salt was washed away. All the rest were arches of arches, and gradually formed arches of different shapes. Arches were very fragile because the ones forming the arches were not hard rocks, but relatively soft sand, so the lifespan of the arches was relatively short.
