Chapter 199: Teaching the Fa(2/2)
Chai Xiaoyue smiled and said: "Master, what do you think of me?"
Master Tan Ming was dressed in a purple cassock, his face was red, and he smiled kindly and said: "The devil is short-tempered and has a great spirit. It is really gratifying. What kind of opportunity does Mr. Chai have?"
"Yes, someone passed a book of sutra to me and asked me to recite it. The effect is very good, but I can't tell you who it is, and I can't tell you the sutra." Chai Xiaoyue said with a smile.
"It is a sutra that can suppress the energy of demons. Congratulations to Mr. Chai Donor for escaping from the sea of suffering!" Master Tan Ming said with a careless smile.
Chai Xiaoyue asked proudly: "Has Master Kongjing opened the altar?"
Master Tan Ming smiled and said: "There's still a quarter of an hour left. Donor Chai and Donor Li, please come in."
The two of them followed Master Tan Ming inside and arrived at a large hall. There were nearly a hundred futons in the main hall. Monks, old and young, were already sitting on the futons, each sitting behind the curtains with solemn expressions.
The old man in gray clothes retreated out at some point, and only Master Tan Ming came in with the two of them. The monks sat motionless, with their eyes closed, as if they were unaware.
Li Muchan glanced around and saw that there were all monks around, except for himself and Chai Xiaoyue, two laymen. These monks had no less than four ordination scars, and they were not ordinary monks.
The two sat down in the middle. Master Tan Ming sat next to Li Muchan, smiled at him, and sat with his eyes closed, making mudra with his hands.
Li Muchan whispered: "Princess, let's chant the sutra."
Chai Xiaoyue nodded slightly, closed her eyes and moved her lips slightly, but there was no sound. Her method of chanting sutras was unique. The sutras came from the brain and were heard in the ears without making a sound.
When chanting sutras, my mind and sutras are one, and time passes extremely fast. I only feel that a moment has passed, and a quarter of an hour has passed.
"Pa!" There was a sound of the cloud board knocking, and everyone opened their eyes and saw a thin old monk sitting in the middle of the hall. His face was haggard, and he curled up cross-legged like a walnut.
He sat there quietly, showing no signs of life. He could not feel anything when he closed his eyes. Some of the monks tried to close their eyes, but they immediately noticed that they were gone.
They are all accomplished monks, and their senses are particularly keen. They feel that their minds have left their bodies and they are standing in the void looking down at everyone.
The old monk first titheed and said in a warm voice: "Old monk Kongjing, who is Kongjing?"
His voice was hoarse and calm. He seemed to be speaking softly, but it resounded throughout the entire hall. He smiled and shook his head: "Kongjing is Kongjing, who is this old man?"
While everyone was pondering, Master Kongjing smiled and said: "I come from Fayan Temple in Xihua. At the invitation of the Holy Master, it is really a great opportunity to participate in Buddhism with all my colleagues."
"I don't want to show off my cleverness, so let's discuss the Heart Sutra with everyone." Master Kongjing smiled and said: "The Heart Sutra is from the shallowest to the deepest, from the most wonderful to the most refined. It can be said to be a supreme scripture. If you can penetrate the Heart Sutra, you will see the Tathagata.
You can see your true nature, and fellow Taoists should not underestimate it."
His eyes were gentle and calm, as if they were warm. When he passed by the crowd, he passed by Li Muchan and Chai Xiaoyue without stopping.
Li Muchan was surprised. He was indeed an eminent monk with extraordinary concentration. He was sitting among the monks and his aura was completely different. Master Kongjing didn't even notice.
Master Kongjing explained the Heart Sutra sentence by sentence. His tongue was like a lotus flower and flowers were falling from the sky. Li Muchan was filled with admiration. Master Kongjing was indeed a man who had attained the Tao and understood his mind and his nature.
He listened with his ears raised and a smile on his face, but Chai Xiaoyue closed her eyes slightly, nodded her head, and almost fell asleep.
Li Muchan ignored Chai Xiaoyue and focused on Master Kongjing.
All the monks were so intoxicated that they were elated and high-spirited, but they did not notice Chai Xiaoyue.
Even Master Tan Ming's eyes shone brightly. Hearing such exquisite music, his energy and spirit were also rolling, making it difficult to remain calm.
Li Muchan glanced around and saw that he and Chai Xiaoyue were the only ones in the hall who were quiet. Chai Xiaoyue was about to fall asleep, but he was still focused and unwavering.
