336 New Era

On the first Sunday of October, the rebuilt Manhattan welcomed a special guest, the combat hero, former Air Force Lieutenant General Mr. Tabert. Mr. Tabert has been proud of his career recently. Due to his unique family background and his consistent tendencies, he was secretly supported by many new forces, so he was appointed as Secretary of Defense by the new president. In order to express his respect for his supporters, he did not continue his past practice and stayed in the Pentagon with the Director of the Administration presided over a non-public ceremony, but came to New York, a city that has been reborn after war and reborn.

Standing in front of nearly 10,000 cheerful supporters, Tabert delivered his inaugural speech to the Statue of Liberty across the sea.

"...I'm sure you are all looking forward to my frank and decisive speech as required by the situation in our country when I became Minister... Freedom and security are something that everyone cherishes, and everyone has reason to fight for it. Since accepting the appointment of His Excellency the President, I often ask myself how to do my duty and maintain national security and military combat effectiveness... To maintain the security of this country and then restore order in the world, all citizens must be involved. No matter who he is, as we say in our Constitution, everyone is born equal, and they have the same right to life, freedom and the right to pursue happiness... Now, our country will continue a never-ending journey and connect the spirit of founding with real life..."

Tabert's speech was interrupted by cheers from supporters from time to time. The flash of the reporters in the audience was also flashing frequently. Now everyone knows that a new era has arrived. It is no longer possible to exclude people with extraordinary abilities from the system as stubbornly as before, and they must actively accept them in order to survive.

This is a universally recognized truth. Unfortunately, some people always can't see the general trend. Not far from the new minister's speech, outside the street in the New York Bay, a few ex-vocal politicians were still shouting loudly, stuffing leaflets into the arms of passers-by, ignoring the other party's disgusting expressions. They kept urging them to expose the truth of the alien invasion, expelling emerging forces, and giving humans a clear blue sky.

"It's ridiculous." Looking at these clown-like crazy people from afar, a S.H.E.D. agent ordered to monitor complained to his colleagues. "Everyone knows that there is no such stable planet without us, but there are always people who have to point fingers. If I make a decision, I think evaporation in the world is a good choice."

"So you've been a grassroots agent until now, and you can't even be a middle-level agent." The colleague rolled his eyes and denied his opinion. "Just make a phone call and let the reporter deal with them. In the past year, the media has been happy to expose the scandal of old-style politicians. We don't need to intervene at all. Naturally, some people are willing to break the news. Don't forget that the country has given us the responsibility to protect civil liberties, but we must also understand political correctness. This has always been the tradition of this country, right?"

While he was talking, several tabloid reporters discovered the news sensitively. They excitedly picked up the camera and started filming around the unlucky ghosts who raised their hands and covered their faces. Behind the reporter was a group of angry New York citizens - for the local residents who suffered heavy losses, former government supporters are undoubtedly the people they hate the most.

There was a storm, and the two agents looked at each other and then walked into the corner and left. One flew into the sky and disappeared behind the skyscrapers being built. The other disappeared from the air in the distortion of light.

Two middle-aged people on the street witnessed the whole process with their own eyes.

"Look, this is your S.H.E.L. It has become a paradise for mutants." The snow-white man faintly mocked his black companion.

"Isn't this the case with Hydra? Who contacted his Prime Minister Lancer to seize the Latvinian regime while Dum was unprepared? Isn't it yours?" The black man asked immediately, and he poked his foot into a painful way, and the white-haired man was speechless.

This black man is Nick Fury. Director has somehow got free today and has the opportunity to go out to relax with others.

This was a rare experience for Fury, especially when the person around him was named Alexander Pierce.

He had received help from Pierce to become the director, but due to his different positions, Fury had various doubts about Pierce's abnormal behavior. The two gradually drifted away. Now he finally confirmed Pierce's true identity and found out the biggest poisonous snake hidden inside S.H.E.L.D. However, as the situation changed, these discoveries were completely meaningless.

Whether it is SHIELD or Hydra, they have become toys in that person's palm, and they are just allowed to be manipulated by him. There is also a supreme queen on Fury's head. Not long ago, Carter took over power again, and Fury has gradually left the decision-making center.

Although I was helpless, I had no choice. The power gap was too big.

Taking into account the reality, his tone couldn't help but calm down, and turned to look at the energetic minister in the distance.

"Tabert's speech is really interesting. It doesn't sound like the Secretary of Defense. It seems that he is preparing for the presidential election in advance. He is about to talk about economic issues. It seems that the Tabert family has made good luck and not only has a minister, but may also become the future president... How does Mr. Stan view this?"

Stan was just to be sad about Stark's former senator. People have long known that he had covetousness for Stark's steel suit, but later he realized that his feet were on the Hydra ship.

If the situation had not changed too suddenly, it would not take long for the plump Hydra to take control of the actual power of SHIELD and cause a big chaos. Unfortunately, they were born at the wrong time. After encountering alien invasion, they were completely reshuffled at home and abroad, and many of the chess pieces laid out in advance were invalid. When the storm swept over them, a group of veteran power fell down and the new leader weighed the pros and cons.

The Hydra people don't care too much about this. They have been lurking for seventy years and can even recognize the reality more than the S.H.E.L.D. Just like at this moment, Pierce has no intention of defending Stan at all.

"I have a very clever decision. If it were me, I would do it. Instead of using someone with a clean background and uncontrollable background, it is better to choose a guy like Stan who has been stained. If you are not satisfied, you can kick him off at any time. As for Tabert, that is what he deserves. We have always advocated a reward mechanism, and of course, it should be rewarded for those who contribute."

Fury snorted, but did not refute anymore. They quietly watched the farces on the street until the song ended.

"Do you know, Nick?" Pierce squinted his eyes and said softly. "I have learned about the history of the organization, the origin of Hydra, and the Skeleton Society of this country. They all have the same ambitions, but they have never achieved them. Although they have had many grand plans, they have never really dominated human beings. But this time it is different. The rules of the world have really changed. Maybe this is my luck. Schmidt's ideal has not been realized, but I have seen a new era... a brand new era."

Peters left, leaving Fury standing alone, staring at the crowd coming and going on the street in a daze.

Inadvertently, he saw a group of children running by the side of the road. Among them were new humans with special talents and ordinary people with ordinary ability. Looking at the carefree expressions of these young people, Fury stood at the busy intersection and felt lost. (To be continued)
