Chapter 609 F-15D

Appreciating the fighter in front of you at close range is extremely powerful.

After World War II, the US Air Force became one of the most powerful air forces in the world. The only one who can fight against the US Air Force was the former Soviet Union's Air Force.

As the absolute main fighter of the US Air Force from the 1970s to the first five years of the new century, the F15 played an important role in the US Air Force.

In the 1960s, the Cold War between the two super empires of the United States and the Soviet Union became increasingly fierce, and the importance of air supremacy became increasingly prominent.

In that era, aircraft designers generally believed that the maximum flight speed and the highest flight altitude were the magic weapon for fighters to win. In future air combat, the use of long-range missiles will make close-range combat a history.

But this idea was ruthlessly overturned on the Vietnamese battlefield because the American F-4 "Ghost" fighter jets with these characteristics on the Vietnamese battlefield were repeatedly shot down by the "backward" MiG-21 or even MiG-17. So the United States began to reflect on this design idea and turned to a design idea that emphasizes both long-distance interception and close-range air combat capabilities.

Guided by this new design idea, the US military ordered the development of a new generation of heavy fighter jets, McDonald, which was later swallowed by Boeing, to obtain the target of the US military in 1969, and began to develop a new generation of heavy fighter jets.

According to the consistent naming habits of the US Air Force, this newly developed heavy fighter is named f-15, codenamed: eagle. Therefore, this fighter is called the f-15 "Eagle" and nicknamed "American Eagle".

In July 1972, this two-seater twin-engine swept-wing jet supersonic all-weather and highly maneuverable aerial tactical fighter began its first flight, and the first flight was very successful. The US military was extremely satisfied with this aircraft. Therefore, a year and a half later, in 1974, the first mass-produced F15 was delivered to the US military, and the aircraft began its service journey that dominated the earth for 40 years.

The emergence of the F15 made the Soviets panic. Although the Soviets began to develop a new generation of heavy fighter jets in 1969, they were far behind the F15 in terms of R&D and production speeds. It was not until the F15 had served in the US military for three years that the Soviet Union's new generation of heavy fighter jets, the Su-27, began its first flight, and it was not until 1979 that the Su-27 was finalized. In 1985, the Su-27, the only heavy fighter jet that could compete with the F15, began to be equipped with the former Soviet air force.

However, even though Su-27 served ten years later than F15, this pair of old enemies were the most eye-catching opponents in the world at the end of the last century.

But unfortunately, these two famous heavy fighters have never officially fought. At least in the official records, these two classic heavy fighters have never been recorded. As for whether the two private fighters have fought, it is unknown.

Up to now, the F15 has been in service for more than fifty years. Although the F22 and F35 have begun to be equipped more and more to the US Air Force, the F15 is still the largest number of main heavy fighter jets in the US Air Force.

After all, the cost of f22 and f35 is too high. The single-frame cost of f22 is as high as US$150 million, and the single-frame cost of f35 is no less than this number, but don't forget that f35 is a light fighter.

The performance of the new fighter is certainly better, but the expensive construction cost is even for rich Americans. Therefore, the main fighter of the US Air Force is still F15. After all, the funds for building a F22 can be enough to build five F15s. No matter how awesome the F22 is, it is impossible to fight five F15s in the air.

In contrast, the f15 fighter has a very high cost performance.

Looking at the big guy in front of me who is nearly twenty meters long and has a wingspan of more than thirteen meters, it is fake to say that he is not shocked. Although this plane is only smaller than a civil aviation passenger plane, and the weapon rack under the wings does not have weapons, it is undeniable that the shape of this plane is really murderous. Even if it is parked on the ground, Yang Jing can still feel the huge lethality of this plane.

This is a real heavy fighter!

In fact, the most fundamental feature of distinguishing between heavy fighter jets and light fighter jets is the number of engines. Generally speaking, twin-engine fighter jets are heavy fighter jets, and single-engine fighter jets are light fighter jets.

This is also the fundamental reason why the f35 "lightning" has a space weight or maximum take-off weight greater than the f15, but the f35 can only be transformed into a light fighter.

Another feature is the cockpit. Before the fourth-generation fighter jets appeared, the two-seater model was one of the symbols of heavy fighter jets. Since the third-generation light fighter jets are mainly used for single air combat missions, most of them use single seats. The third-generation heavy fighter jets or attack aircraft generally use two seats. This is because heavy fighter jets are responsible for dual combat missions to air and ground at the same time. Pilots not only have to complete flight control, but also attack air targets and ground targets.

Because one more person can take on more tasks, two-seater fighter jets can perform some tasks that single-seater fighter jets cannot perform and are difficult to perform on their own, such as air command, electromagnetic suppression, guided weapon projection, etc.

Of course, with the increasing development of electronic technology, most of the fourth-generation heavy fighter jets have changed the cockpit to a single-seat, because developed electronic technology can replace a pilot. For example, the cockpits of heavy twin-engine fighters such as f22 and MiG 1.44 are all single-seat.

The F15 in front of me is a typical twin-engine two-seater heavy fighter, with two seats in the cockpit arranged in front and back. If the aircraft is controlled in normal combat, the front cabin will be the main body, so that the front cabin pilot can concentrate on flying control and air-to-air missions, and the rear seat will be responsible for ground strikes, thereby improving the efficiency of weapons and equipment and enhancing the fighter's strike and survivability.

However, this is an F15d trainer, a two-engine two-seater trainer aircraft transformed from the F15c single-seat double-engine air-powered fighter.

Although this is a trainer, it has all the combat capabilities of the F15C, but it is not equipped with the C-type An/alq-135 electronic interference equipment. The main difference in appearance is that it has added a rear seat. The rear seat has all the control capabilities and has a good vision, and can complete any action within the flight envelope, including takeoff and landing. Since the C-type is mainly used for training, the rear seat is unable to control the avionics systems and weapons equipment used for combat.

However, because Yang Jing can't control the fighter jet, Yang Jing will sit in the back seat honestly for a while, and George will control the plane in the front seat.

After wandering around the plane, Yang Jing was very satisfied, really. He was able to get close to this fighter and even take this fighter to the sky later. This is definitely not something that ordinary people can do.

Although Oracle's Larry Ellison bought a retired MiG-29 fighter for six million dollars to drive to and from get off work, can the MiG-29 be compared with the heavy fighter in front of him? If the two meet in the air, the MiG-29 will be crushed.

The performance in the Kosovo War in 1999 has already reflected the gap between these two fighter jets.

During the Kosovo War that year, 11 of the 16 MiG-29s of the Confederate Knights Squadron were shot down by F16 and F15, while none of the US military was shot down. At that time, F16 was actually the one who attacked F15, and the main combat aircraft was F15.

The difference between the two is so big.

However, if you want to soar in the sky while sitting in this plane, you still need a series of preparations. The minimum point is to change your flight suit.

Paul led George and Yang Jing to a corner of the hangar. George said to Yang Jing: "Boss, before boarding the plane, we must change into flight suits to ensure safety. Without this thing, I will not take you to heaven."

When Yang Jing opened the two boxes in the corner, he saw two full sets of flight suits contained in it, including helmets, masks, anti-load suits and life jackets. These things are important protective equipment for pilots to fly training, combat and life-saving in distress.

Yang Jing knew that if he didn't want to be abused in the sky, it would be better to just change into this thing.

Flight suits are military uniforms worn by pilots when performing flight missions. They are important equipment to ensure that pilots can work normally during flight, especially in high altitude and low air pressure, hypoxia, etc.

These two sets of flight suits are desert yellow. This color is used to wear in desert environments and is both protective. Once the pilot is shot down, it can act as a camouflage.

The flight suit is a whole, that is, the top and pants are connected together, with pockets everywhere, which are for pilots to wear daily necessities during flight and after parachuting. Of course, if the pilots follow normal requirements, they must also be equipped with pistols before boarding the plane, in order to prevent the plane from landing unexpectedly and protect the important data and personal safety of the plane. But this is a trainer, so there is no need to wear that thing.

Yang Jing has never worn this thing, but both Chris and John know how to wear flight suits, so with their help, Yang Jing began to wear flight suits.

"Boss, this kind of flight suit is an advanced modern flight suit, which combines high-altitude compensation suit, anti-duty suit and temperature adjustment suit functions. If you wear it, you and George will be able to fly freely at high altitude in a short time." Chris introduced to Yang Jing while helping Yang Jing wear the flight suit.

"I said Chris, why don't there be buttons or zippers on this flight suit? They are all nylon mother-child buttons."

"That's right, this is because in an early 1950s, a French naval, army and air force exercise, an ace pilot in the French Air Force was destroyed and killed because a button fell into the instrument. So since that accident, the whole world's flight suits had no buttons and zippers, and were all replaced by this nylon mother-child buckle."

Yang Jing sighed: "This is very scary."

Chris smiled and said, "Yes, pilots, especially fighter pilots, can be said to be the most dangerous profession in the world, so you must make all preparations before boarding the plane. Just like the flight suit you are wearing, it looks similar to ordinary work clothes on the surface, but the high-tech content inside is still very sufficient. Just like the high-altitude compensation suit inside the clothes, this thing does not work when flying normally at high altitudes. However, once the cockpit loses airtightness or the pilot leaves the plane in an emergency, the oxygen regulator or parachuting oxygen supply automatically quickly recharges oxygenation to the compensation suit and the sealed helmet. The compensation suit forms a compensation pressure corresponding to the residual pressure inside and outside the human body, maintains the balance of pressure inside and outside the human body, prevents lung damage, improves breathing and circulation functions, and avoids the additional effects of high-altitude hypoxia and pressurized oxygen supply on the human body."

After wearing it for a few minutes, Chris patted Yang Jing's helmet and smiled: "Boss, now you can board the plane."
