151, Counterattack (3)

At 10 pm on May 26, 1942, the Axis Combined Fleet had already sailed to a sea about 180 kilometers south of the Seijima Islands, and in fact, they entered the attack range of aircraft carriers, including the Okinawa Islands and Taiwan. The aircraft carriers had already begun to prepare for the attack. Since it was an attack on the island, the main task of the aviation fleet was to deal with the land-based combat aircraft deployed by the Japanese in Okinawa and Taiwan. Therefore, each aircraft carrier reduced the number of torpedo aircraft and dive bombers and increased the organization of a fighter squadron.

On the dark ocean surface, a huge fleet consisting of 18 aircraft carriers formed four circular air defense formations, which began to slow down the speed and patrol the sea surface. The wind and waves on the sea surface were very strong, the warships swayed violently, and the waves could occasionally hit the flight deck. The air crew responsible for the maintenance of the deck were trying hard to fix the fighter jets waiting to take off on the deck so that they were not affected by the shaking of the warships.

On the bridge of the aircraft carrier "Fujian", Admiral Chen Shiying was full of excitement and stared at the two long white tracks unfolding behind the aircraft carrier. Nearly 50 years have passed since the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, and now the Chinese Navy has finally begun to attack the Japanese mainland first.

In fact, before this operation, the newly established Chinese Strategic Air Force with the help of Germany and Austria had carried out several bombings on Japan.

The number of b40 heavy bombers equipped by the Chinese Air Force is limited, and its performance on the battlefield is not very eye-catching, and it can even be described as bad. The heavy bomber developed by the Austro-Hungarian military, with a maximum bomb load of up to 10 tons, a ceiling of 11,000 meters and a range of more than 6,000 kilometers was originally planned to be used in European battlefields to bomb Britain. However, due to the inability to seize air supremacy over the British Isles, the b40 could only conduct high-altitude bombing at night, and did not achieve obvious results except to create some fear for the British.

The first time the b40 heavy bomber appeared on the Far East battlefield was during the Battle of the Philippines. Since the US Asian Air Force was wiped out at the beginning of the war, it did not show any eye-catching performance except for the bombing of Mindanao. On November 5, 1941, the Austrian-China Joint Air Force 118 B-40s took off from Shandong Lancun Airport to bomb the shipyard in Nagasaki. On the way, 16 of you failed and returned. There were 102 aircraft participating in the drop of bombs, and only 36 bombs landed in the designated target area, causing extremely minor damage. There were 3 other aircraft missing due to trek during the return journey.

The second long-range bombing against Japan was still set off from Lanlao Island, Shandong. The target of the bombing was the Hachiman Iron Station on Kyushu Island. This time, 98 aircraft were dispatched. 67 bombs participated in the drop, and one was shot down. Six aircraft were lost due to lost track, and there were only 12 bombs falling into the target area, destroying a substation and several unimportant factories.

As the Chinese Air Force is equipped with more and more heavy bombers, the effectiveness of Japanese bombing has improved slightly, but the poor performance of a large number of "aircraft rookies" has not attracted much attention.

Now, the "Naodao" of the Air Force is still practicing the use of electric compass disks and directions under the training of flight instructors sent by the Navy. To severely damage Japan, the Navy must rely on the Navy to take action.

Since the Axis coalition captured the Philippines in November last year, it has begun to expand its aviation base on Luzon and plan an attack on Japan. Since fighter jets taken off from China cannot escort the bomber troops throughout the journey, the heavy bombers equipped by the coalition can only bomb at an altitude of 8,000 to 9,000 meters, and the effect is not ideal.

Since the Japanese army judged that the coalition might land in Taiwan, they drew 9 divisions from the local area to strengthen Taiwan's defense. Currently, the total Japanese army in Taiwan has about 450,000, which has a strong defense. Although the Japanese army in Taiwan lost most of the combat aircraft due to the coalition bombing, from the naval perspective, Taiwan is still a difficult bone to crack.

Admiral Yankel naturally turned his attention to the Ryukyu Islands, which were the weakest defense of the Japanese army. If the coalition forces occupy the entire Ryukyu, they can not only break through the maritime connection between Luzon and northern China, but also cut off the supply channels and retreat routes between more than 1.3 million Japanese invaders in the south and Japanese troops stationed in Taiwan and their homeland. On the other hand, even medium-range bombers can take off from the Ryukyu airport and bomb the Japanese mainland, and the land-based fighter jets taking off from this line can provide bombers with full-range escort.

Therefore, the coalition forces are bound to win against the Ryukyu Islands!

The 12th Air Wing of the Japanese Army stationed in Taiwan has been basically exhausted under the attacks of the German-Australian Far East Air Force and the Chinese Air Force throughout the winter, and it is impossible to pose much threat to the coalition fleet. In fact, the main combat mission of the coalition fleet is to first eliminate the Japanese Army Air Force and Navy Land-based Air Force stationed in Okinawa.

The Japanese army has a total of 5 airports in Okinawa, of which Kadena Airport in Naha is a large military-civilian dual-use airport. There are more than 350 combat aircrafts in the 11th Army Air Force. The rest have one military airport on Okinawa Kyorama Island and Amami Oshima, but the scale is not very large. Each airport has only about 30 to 50 combat aircraft. The Japanese army in Okinawa deployed less than 500 combat aircraft in the entire Okinawa area, but what is strange is that the Japanese army did not build airports on the islands of the Seijima Island, nor did they deploy many defensive forces.

This is related to the conflict between the Japanese army and navy. Okinawa and Taiwan are defended by the Japanese army, while the Seijima Islands and the Micronesian islands seized by the Germans from the Germans are defended by the Navy. The Japanese Marine Corps themselves have few troops, and they also need to focus on defending the front line of the Northern Mariana Ogasawara Islands, which the Japanese regard as their lifeline. There is almost no extra force to defend the Seijima Islands sandwiched between the army.

The Japanese Navy deployed less than 2,000 troops on the Xiandao islands, with an average of only 2000 people on each island. Anyway, that's it. If you are attacked here, you don't believe that the army can do it.

The problem is that there is no naval support and no air superiority, the army can only do it

At 3:10 a.m., a signal light for the preparation of attack was lit on Admiral Yankel's flagship "Frederiki Grand Official". The battleships and heavy cruisers first ejected 16 seaplanes and searched the surroundings in the air. Then, 36 combat reconnaissance planes were sent from each aircraft carrier to perform search and air alert missions.

The battle is about to begin soon!

All aircraft carriers have prepared for the attack. The fighter jets that performed the first wave of attack missions are arranged neatly on the takeoff line on the flight deck in the order of fighter jets first and then bombers. Pilots preparing to go out gathered in the standby room on the first floor of the bridge, waiting for the order to go out.

General Chen Shiying walked into the war room accompanied by Colonel Huang Panyang, the Chinese flight commander-in-chief.

"Everyone is attentive!" Huang Panyang shouted loudly, and then saluted Chen Shiying and reported: "Report to the commander, the first attacking pilot has been assembled, please give me advice!"

"I don't say much. Everyone is a navy and everyone knows the significance of today's battle. I just hope everyone understands that the glory of the navy depends on this battle! Our navy soldiers must fight with all their might to save the shame of Sino-Japanese War!"

As soon as Chen Shiying finished speaking, nearly a hundred people shouted in unison in the entire standby room: "Go to serve the country with all their loyalty and avenge their shame in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895!"

"Avenge your shame in Sino-Japanese War!".

Sino-Japanese War! Since the Battle of the Yellow Sea, these two words have been pressing against the Chinese Navy like a mountain for nearly half a century, and the Chinese Navy has been breathless. As long as these two words are mentioned, every Chinese navy soldier will bow his head and speak in silence.

Today, the Chinese Navy will use its own actions to savage the shame of half a century ago!

Then, the "Fujian" signal mast raised the Z-shaped flag as a flag, and the triangle signal flag was flying in the dawn. "The time for avenging shame is finally here!" All the crew members were excited and the fleet was advancing against the wind and waves. At 4:45 am, the first fighter jet began to take off. (To be continued.)
