61, Caucasus air battle (3)

The air crew on the deck were greeting the pilots and saying some blessings. Wang Hongsheng and two companions climbed onto the plane and got into the cockpit.

"Hi, eat betel nut, it will help refresh yourself!" Lin Hao, the observer and communicationsman behind him, handed over a piece of betel nut. Most of HNA pilots are from Fujian and have the habit of eating betel nut.

"Okay, we're going to fry the Russians!" Wang Hongsheng threw the betel nut into his mouth and chewed it.

"No problem, I've wanted to deal with them for a long time." Lin Hao said behind him, and he turned to Yang Zixing, the bomber behind him, and said, "It has to be thrown on the enemy's head."

The 12 torpedo bombers on the flight deck are at the last position, and there are about twenty planes in front waiting for takeoff. It was still early and the engine was roaring. Two heavy bombs were mounted on the torpedo plane, and half of the wings were stacked on the fuselage. They had to wait until the fighter stopped on the departure line before they could put them down.

The Fiat br22 is a twin-engine bomber with a maximum range of 2,800 kilometers, much further than ordinary fighter acquisitions. The aircraft is equipped with two 127mm machine guns and a 20mm machine gun as self-defense weapons, and can also participate in air combat. However, due to the large fuselage and poor hovering and turning performance, no pilot will easily use it to fight a flexible fighter in the air.

After waiting in the cabin for about half an hour, it was Wang Hongsheng's turn to set off.

The aviation commander raised the red flag in his hand on the bridge and signaled: "Prepare to take off!"

Wang Hongsheng slightly loosened the brakes and the plane slowly slid to the takeoff line. Due to its large weight, the takeoff line was much further than that of fighter and dive bombers. He looked up at the commander on the bridge and saw him raising the white flag, which meant to start taking off. So he turned his eyes to the takeoff commander on the deck.

The deck commander shook the baton in his hand quickly, signaling him to open the accelerator and increase the engine's speed. After about 20 seconds, he pointed the wooden stick directly in front, which was to give the pilot the order to take off.

Wang Hongsheng drove the engine to full speed, and the plane began to glide quickly on the deck, and the speed became faster and faster.

Wang Hongsheng's takeoff was not very smooth, and his movements were a little slow. Perhaps because of some tension. After leaving the deck, the fuselage of the Fiat br22 bomber sank a little, and it started to climb upwards less than 10 meters away from the sea. He turned the rudder slightly right, and the plane turned sideways to rise to the sky. The sky was blue, and the dazzling sunlight just shone down from the front.

At the request of China, the Italians changed the canopy cover to an Austro-Hungarian-style integrated cast arc-shaped cockpit. The pilot's field of vision was very wide. He put away the landing gear and the flaps that assisted take-off and landing, and looked at the instrument panel that was constantly swinging. He drove the plane to a location about two thousand meters away from the warship to form formation.

At an altitude of about 1,200 meters, the entire squadron hovered at the flat frigate, waiting for the fighter jets that took off to join the formation, and the fighter jets serving as escort missions circled and patrolled higher places.
