Chapter 39 Instigation 2 (Happy New Year)
"Sir Baron, I think, maybe, you should consider the thoughts from the villagers!" Adams said quietly.
"I don't think there is any need for this!" William said coldly.
"A good lord will not lose his lord, Lord Baron." Adams said with a threat.
"What if they were not my lords!" William's majestic eyes swept across the villagers in the audience, "I am a reasonable person and an honest person! I am the lord of the leader of Decas. The law of the principality gives me the power to collect taxes from my lords. I fulfill my power, and I only charge you 40% of the land tax!"
"40% of the land tax is too high, Lord Baron!" Adams said weakly.
"Is that true? Mr. Adams!" William accentuated his tone when he said Mr. Adams.
"You can go to other territories, as long as you can find less land tax than the Baron!" Old John interrupted and looked at Adams angrily.
Adams's face looked a little ugly, and he also knew that the land tax was quite small compared to other lords!
But, he couldn't help but say something, and he still had to say it.
"But, the village of Nisse is a special place after all!"
"Every place is special, Mr. Adams." William retorted expressionlessly, "I never force you! After paying the rent I deserve, you are all free, and you can choose where you want to go!"
"Master Baron, we are not your serfs. The villagers of Nisse village are all free people. We have the right to move freely!" Adams couldn't help but say.
"Of course, you have it." William said casually.
"You are not free people, you are all thieves!" Old John couldn't help but curse.
No one of the villagers refuted that the small village of Nisse was originally a spontaneous village formed by refugees.
At that time, they did not pay the funds for purchasing land to the lord or the principality. Whoever owns it belongs to it. If they don’t agree, it depends on their fists!
So Old John called them thieves, and that was right!
Of course, this is what Old John said from the perspective of the ruler!
At this time, the West Knight, the messenger, interjected, and he sighed, "40% of the land tax? Ah! What a kind lord!"
"Okay, since your lord doesn't care about your life at all, we don't have any extra time to waste listening to your chat here."
"Now, if anyone who wants to spend the winter in Patras, come to me and pay enough food, or enough pizza coins!"
"You have to pay the local taxes that Decas receives first, and you damn thieves can escape!" Old John screamed.
The villagers were immediately in a dilemma. No one dared to act rashly, as the lord William was ahead.
West Knight had a little trouble, and he cursed the pariah in his heart, and then looked at Adams again with a look.
Adams complained secretly, but he had no way out, so he had to stand up and continue to pull William's hatred, saying.
"Master Baron, we know, we all know that you are a kind lord and a generous lord. Please, all the villagers are watching you, as long as you are willing..."
"It's all your business!" William interrupted impatiently, and used a classic national scolding from his previous life!
"What does it have to do with my butt?" Adams was stunned and then woke up. He felt insulted and his face turned red.
"Master Baron, if you do this, you will lose us!" Adams said a little unceremoniously.
"Is that right? Mr. Adams, you cannot represent all the constituents! What's more, for me, I will spend the whole winter in the village of Nesse, and those who choose to turn against me will not be constituents of Decas." William emphasized again.
"You really spend the winter in the village of Nesse?" Adams asked in disbelief, bent down, he always thought William was just kidding!
But looking at William's current appearance doesn't seem like a joke!
"If there is no nutrition!" William gave Adams a blank look.
Adams was silent, and the West Knight on the other side seemed to have heard a huge joke. His eyes swept across the mountain of soil and limestone at the entrance of the village and said, "I have to say, Lord Baron, your courage amazes me. This can no longer be said to be brave, but perhaps it should be called stupid."
"Master Baron, your stupid bravery is really shocking!" said West Knight unscrupulously.
Old John was so angry that he gritted his teeth, but he could do nothing!
However, William's face was still calm and he was not affected by ridicule at all.
This made the West Knight's heart a little dark, and even felt a little unhappy!
Knight West thought for a while and said, "Sir Baron, please forgive my presumptuousness. Are you planning to use the soil to defend against the attacks of the monsters deep in the dark forest? Are you planning to use those stones to counter them?"
"I have to say, this is a genius creativity! Hahahaha..." West Knight couldn't help laughing wildly.
Even the two knights next to him showed contemptuous smiles at the corners of their mouths.
William had always been very calm, even cold, and he looked at West Knights with a cold smile.
Everyone in the audience was watching West Knight laughing wildly.
Slowly, the West Knight also felt uncomfortable as he smiled.
Anyway, it was a very unpleasant feeling. As soon as his mouth closed, he roared, "Okay, you untouchables, give me a quicker pace, or stay here with your lord for the winter!"
Adams felt nervous and did not dare to delay any more. He opened his mouth and said apologetically to William, "Sir Baron, I'm sorry, we can only see you next year! I'm really sorry!"
"No, you don't need to feel sorry, because I don't want to see you next year!" William said mercilessly.
After hearing this, Knight West added, "Yes, you may not really not see your Baron next year, hahaha..." Knight West laughed at her heart.
William was still indifferent, which made the West Knight's anger thicker.
"My son, my children, Kyle Adams and Rick Adams, will come with me!" Adams whispered again. He really had no confidence.
"As long as they want!" William was also generous.
What he wants is loyal guards, not hidden mines.
And Adams' behavior is just burying the mine!
It would be better to send it away early!
"Thank you, Lord Baron, you are a good lord!" Adams said to William with complicated eyes, then looked at the guard behind him, "Kyle, Rick! Come out!"
The other guards were silently looking at Adams' two sons. They hesitated for a moment before standing up and whispering to William, "Sir Baron, I'm sorry!"
"Sorry, Lord Baron!"
"Yeah!" William was as proud as gold.
Jacques Porter and Drake John seemed very angry.
Jacques Porter stood up angrily and scolded Adams's two sons, "How many resources have you two traitors, Lord Baron put in you?"
Kyle Adams and Rick Adams lowered their heads and dared not face Jacques Porter.
"Jacques!" William suddenly yelled, "Ignore discipline and run around the village for five times! Now!"
"Baron..." Jacques Porter looked at William's cold face, glared at Kyle Adams and Rick Adams fiercely, and then panted heavily and ran out of the village!
Knight West looked at this scene with amusement, and looked down on William a little more. Even those who thought about him were punished. No wonder Lord Viscount called him a child baron!
His eyes rolled for a moment and said lazily, "Is there anyone else? If not, we will leave!"
"Yes, Lord Knight, please give us some more time." Adams was most active when he heard this. While responding to the words of Knight West, he placed his eyes in the crowd to search.
"What are you waiting for? Are you really going to spend the winter in the village of Nisse?" Adams said to all the villagers.
Only when more people leave together will William compromise and Adams feel at ease!
"Mr. Adams, I have to remind you that you have paid the entry fee to the people of Patray today, and you are not the leader of my Decas, and you will get out with your property! Your land will be taken back! Kyle, Rick, take off your uniform boots, you are not worthy of wearing it, and the long swords and shields on your bodies, put down!"
William interrupted Adams with a faint look.
Kyle and Rick's face turned pale, and the original luck disappeared. Under the eyes of William and others, they had to slowly take off what they did not belong to.
Adams's face was also ugly, blue and red, but he quickly adjusted. He said, "Life is far more important than property! Lord Baron, for these things, I value my family and my life more! After all, as long as life is still there, the future will still be there! Life is gone, and even if the land is still there, it has nothing to do with him."
Adams said this to himself, to William, and to other villagers.
The villagers heard his words and the argument became louder.
Adams couldn't help but smile a smug smile on his lips.
However, William's words were indifferent, "This is your freedom!" made Adams's heart disappear without a trace.
A hint of annoyance flashed in his eyes and decided to add another fire, even if he had to take the severity of offending William.
"Mr. Smith, Mr. Coster, Mr. Seuster, Andrew, Mr. Frake, what are you waiting for? Opportunities won't always be there! It's time to make a decision! Life or death?"
