Section 32 Accident

After leaving Mianzhu, Gao Mingzhan finally found the right direction and moved in the right direction.

Now there are more than 3,000 Qing troops following Gao Mingzhan, and a large number of soldiers are slowly catching up. Gao Mingzhan did not walk fast in order to gather the troops. After moving forward slowly for two days, thousands of soldiers chased the front army, bringing the strength of the Qing army back to about 6,000.

Before sending troops, Gao Mingzhan and Tan Yiman thought this would be a snowball offensive. From the beginning of Jiange, they could use the surrendered Ming army men to supplement the Qing army's military rations with the Ming army's savings, and then make full use of the Ming army's manpower and material resources in Jiangyou and Mianzhu to preserve the physical strength of the Qing army well. When Gao Mingzhan left Guangyuan, he optimistically believed that when he arrived at the city of Chengdu, the original Ganzhou-Shaanxi Green Camp would not only be in full force, but also expand thousands of auxiliary troops.

Gao Mingzhan also hoped that the soldiers who surrendered in the early stage would go to Chengdu to persuade the defenders to surrender. Even if Chengdu planned to resist to the end, Gao Mingzhan felt that there was nothing scary. The Ming army in Mianzhu must have some understanding of the reality of Chengdu, and they can understand the weaknesses of the defenders from them. In addition, the Qing army was well-equipped, so it would be easy to deal with a group of farmers in Chengdu.

This year, Chongqing also intercepted some reports from western Sichuan to Fengjie, which said that more than 20,000 Jianchang's auxiliary soldiers and thousands of people moved to Chengdu. The total number of these newcomers, plus the original military households in Chengdu, has reached about 40,000. If Liu Yao and Yang Youcai lack control, then no matter whether it is the original more than 10,000 peasant soldiers or the current 40,000 peasant soldiers, it will not cause any trouble to the Qing army. A large number of people will be more conducive to Gao Mingzhan's construction of military camps in Chengdu.

But now Gao Mingzhan's confidence is not that strong. The collective retreat of the Ming army including Jiange shows that Chengdu's control over western Sichuan is definitely not as weak as Tan Yi said; along the way, the Qing army suffered all the hardships of the Ming army, and it seems that Liu Yao and Yang Youcai are not as honest as Tan Yi said; and all the farmers in Chengdu are not combat-capable, which are also said by Tan Yi. Since Tan Yi was so outrageously wrong in the first two questions, Gao Mingzhan doubted whether Tan Yi's description of Chengdu's military strength was correct.

Since no prisoners were captured on the road, Gao Mingzhan could not understand the real situation in Chengdu, and Liu Yao and Yang Youcai knew nothing about the control ability. But now he could not go back, so Gao Mingzhan could only force himself to believe in the information of Tan Yi and Chongqing and attack Chengdu with the help of the bullet.

"The thieves in Chengdu have no ability to resist at all. They have no weapons and armor. They are not even soldiers. They are just a group of farmers who can farm. No one has ever killed anyone." Gao Mingzhan and Tan Yi tried hard to boost morale. Now the Qing army's armor was almost lost, and there were still some weapons left. Since the number of people was at a huge disadvantage, we can only emphasize quality: "One person can beat them ten!"

Relying on hunting, he digs out the roots of plants from the snow and takes out the last grain. Gao Mingzhan estimated that the soldiers could hold on for a few days. On the tenth day of the first lunar month, he ordered camping for two days to rest, so that the soldiers could recover their strength a little, and then continue to march and take down Chengdu in one go. The Sichuan Governor estimated that there were about a thousand soldiers behind him, but now he had no strength to find them, and he had no time to wait for them to catch up. Gao Mingzhan could only hope to take down Chengdu in one fell swoop, and then let the surrendered Ming army go to the back to see if there were any surviving Qing army.

...

Since Gao Mingzhan came to Chengdu, his actions have been under the full attention of the Ming army. Originally, Deng Ming planned to defend the city and waited until the Qing army was exhausted before leaving the city to fight. However, the IOU system has just been introduced, and the credit of the IOU is still questioned, so after thinking about it, he could not let all the people enter the city, so he came up with a two-choice plan for the fellow scholars outside the city to choose.

The first is to let the fellow scholars bring all their food into the city, burn all the houses outside the city, and build them after they are defeated. Second, all fellow scholars who are unwilling to burn down their houses and do not want to bring all their savings to the city have to join the army and fight with the Ming army.

Originally, Deng Ming thought that most of the scholars who dared not fight with the Qing army would voluntarily choose to enter the city. Unexpectedly, the people who defended their houses and fields were much higher than Deng Ming thought, or they were too worried about the Ming army and refused to take out all the food stored at home and brought them into the city.

At the beginning, thousands of people chose to participate in training and fight the Qing army. Influenced by them, more and more fellow scholars who were originally hesitant also decided to participate in military training instead of moving all their belongings into the city. After more than 10,000 fellow scholars participated in military training, Deng Ming knew that his plan to strengthen the walls and clear the country was completely ruined, and the number of people left outside the city was so large that the Ming army could not adopt the strategy of firming the walls.

Therefore, Deng Ming canceled the option of letting people into the city and announced that everyone would participate in military training and fight to the death with the Qing army. Throughout the twelfth lunar month, Chengdu was like a large training camp, with everyone being divided into groups and practicing under the leadership of instructors.

"The admiral is so kind. If the last general is changed, they will burn their houses. Do they see if they enter the city?" The person who spoke was Di Sanxi. On the third day of the Lunar New Year, he rushed to Chengdu with a thousand soldiers, including five hundred soldiers, and one hundred and fifty of them were cavalry.

"Because you are a military camp, but we are not here. Some military camps cannot be used here." Deng Ming was originally a little dissatisfied with the delay in Jianchang's reinforcements, but when he saw Di Sanxi, these dissatisfactions became touched - the road was blocked with heavy snow, and the road from Jianchang to Chengdu was extremely difficult. After Jianchang received a letter of help, many people were afraid of difficulties because of the road conditions.

But after hearing that Deng Ming had already gone to Chengdu, Di Sanxi volunteered to lead the team. Among the 500 armored soldiers he brought, two hundred of them were confidants of Di Sanxi's subordinates. The other 300 armored soldiers were elite soldiers lent to Di Sanxi by other Xizhan generals. Di Sanxi braved the cold winter and rushed to Chengdu as quickly as possible. When he arrived in Jiadingzhou, the Chinese New Year was about to be over, Di Sanxi refused to stop and delayed, and did not take a break. After his subordinates and horses recovered their strength, they set off immediately to continue moving forward.

Yuan Xiang also threw down the affairs at hand and came with Di Sanxi. After seeing Yuan Xiang, Deng Ming asked about the civil affairs of Sichuan Xingdu Department, and Yuan Xiang was full of trouble. After the evening, Yuan Xiang met Liu Jinge, he came to Deng Ming the next day and apologized for guilt, saying that he failed to understand Deng Ming's intentions, which affected the admiral's great cause of governing Sichuan. It sounded like what Yuan Xiang did in Jianchang was similar to what Liu Jinge had done in Chengdu before.

"Since the admiral is planning to fight in the field, it's better to fight in the field, so as not to waste time with the Tartars." After a few days of rest in Chengdu, Di Sanxi's men recovered their physical strength and spirit. Although Di Sanxi felt that Deng Ming's methods to the people were a little soft, and he was less domineering in Jianchang with a seal, he had no doubt about the upcoming victory: "The last general is willing to kill the general and seize the flag for the admiral."

"Okay, then you can follow me with the cavalry." The 150 cavalry brought by Di Sanxi were all personal soldiers and servants of the generals of the Xiying camp. Although the number was not large, their combat effectiveness was quite impressive. With these people, Deng Ming felt that he would be more sure of seducing the enemy. Originally, personal guards were always Zhao Tianba's job, but since Zhao Tianba was going to command the central army, he had to let Di Sanxi do it for the time being.

Now everyone around Chengdu has a blind admiration for Deng Ming. The reason why a large number of fellow scholars are unwilling to burn their houses to hide in the city is because they think Deng Ming is unlikely to defeat the war. If that is the case, why give up his property and flee into the city? And Liu Yao, Yang Youcai, Di Sanxi and the guards have the trust of Deng Ming, which is probably much stronger than ordinary people. No matter how Deng Ming wants to fight, they support him unconditionally.

Due to the policy of encouraging land reclamation, the farmers here in Chengdu live far away from each other. Although Gao Mingzhan is still far away from Chengdu City, it has threatened the houses of farmers on the outermost side of the agricultural reclamation area. Therefore, the day before yesterday, Deng Ming ordered Chengdu to mobilize comprehensively and gather troops to face Gao Mingzhan north.

Di Sanxi led the soldiers of the Xiying camp to set out as the front army with Deng Ming. Now Deng Ming has only fifteen guards around him. In addition to Zhao Tianba who wants to command the central army, Deng Ming also felt that he had great potential, so he asked them all to lead the troops.

Liu Yao, Yang Youcai's warriors, and Jiangyou and other places, had more than 1,200 soldiers, which were the core force of the Ming army. Although Xiong Lan's subordinates were not considered a long-standing battle formation, they had at least seen the battlefield, which was more knowledgeable than Liu Yao and his soldiers, so they were also used as quasi-main forces. Deng Ming planned to subscribe them to Zhao Tianba and other five before the war; in addition, more than 34,000 fellow scholars who had just undergone basic training, each of them had a wooden spear and headed north together in a mighty manner.

"Gao Mingzhan's camp is twenty miles away." Danma reported to Deng Minghui.

"Well, how strong are their troops? What's the movement?"

When Deng Ming received the first military information sent by Jiang You, the description of Gao Mingzhan's military strength put a lot of pressure on him. The Qing army not only had four or five hundred cavalry, but also carried artillery. At that time, Deng Ming believed that even if he could defeat the Qing army, Chengdu would suffer a lot of losses - Deng Ming was really unable to rest assured that he wanted to stick to Chengdu.

But then the situation of the Qing army deteriorated sharply. After Gao Mingzhan came out of the mountainous areas near Mianzhu, the report of the horse exploration surprised Deng Ming. The Ming army scout described to Deng Ming that this Qing army no longer had any cavalry and had no ability to conduct reconnaissance near the army; and the weapons and equipment of the Qing army were also very different from the previous one. If it weren't for knowing that there were no other Qing army nearby and still seeing Gao Mingzhan's banner, the Ming army scouts suspected that this was another enemy army; as for the cannon that Deng Ming was most worried about, the Ming army scouts would never see their traces again.

"The Tartars have a little more people today, and they look like six or seven thousand." The scout reported that the Qing army ignored their nearby reconnaissance activities, and focused on picking up firewood or digging food under the snow.

"Do the Tartars have so confidence?" Di Sanxi said in surprise: "They are too arrogant, right?"

But now the Qing army is so arrogant. Because these soldiers from the Ganzhou-Shaanxi Green Camp knew in their hearts that if the Ming army had thousands of soldiers, they would never be able to fight. And returning to Guangyuan was obviously impossible, and they would starve to death if they were not frozen to death. Since that was the case, everyone could only believe in the propaganda of Gao Mingzhan and Tan Yi, and believed in the claim that the Ming army in Chengdu was vulnerable. Since the Ming army had absolutely no strength to attack itself, of course, picking up firewood and looking for food was the serious matter.

"Well, I can't give them time to recover their strength." Deng Ming ordered the former army to continue advancing, and at the same time asked someone to urge Zhao Tianba and the others to speed up the march, and they would camp against each other against the Qing army tonight.

Soon the front army entered the Qing army's range of activities. Seeing that Di Sanxi and the guards were eager to try, Deng Ming did not stop them, but just told them to be careful not to pursue too far, and were ambushed by the Qing army.

"As for orders, admiral." Di Sanxi looked excited and was about to rush out after saying that.

"There is one more thing," Deng Ming hurriedly stopped Di Sanxi: "If the prisoners are caught in a while, let two of them go back and bring them to Gao Mingzhan."

"What will the admiral say to the Gao thief?"

"Send my name and then ask Gao Mingzhan to fight tomorrow." Since the scout said that the Qing army was exhausted and the troops were not all, Deng Ming did not intend to drag it down any longer, but decided to fight quickly: "I defeated them in one fell swoop, and we will go back to Chengdu to celebrate the Lantern Festival."

"Yes, the Admiral said it well." Di Sanxi nodded and asked again: "Is there anything else in the Admiral?"

"No more, go."

Along the way, Deng Ming and Di Sanxi said many times that they should not commit unnecessary killings for the sake of temporary pleasure. If it does not affect their own safety, it is better to try to capture the Qing soldiers as much as possible. Di Sanxi also agreed with this. He said that the military camp in Jianchang needs a large number of auxiliary soldiers, and now there is a lack of manpower everywhere.

Di Sanxi rushed forward without hesitation with the cavalry of Xiying and Deng Ming's guards and launched an attack on the surrounding Qing army scattered soldiers. Deng Ming led the infantry of Xiying to set up a formation in the distance, watching the battle while preparing for support at any time.

However, Di Sanxi's attack was unexpectedly smooth, and the Qing army had no power to resist. Many people did not even try to escape when they were attacked by the cavalry of the Western Camp, but instead knelt down and begged for mercy.

As for the surrendered Qing soldiers, the cavalry of the Xiying ordered them to surrender under Deng Ming's banner, and then rode their horses to chase the enemies who were trying to escape, and cut them all to the ground without mercy.

Di Sanxi, who was not resisting, continued to attack and fought until the Qing army's camp.

"General Di is also a brave general." Deng Ming sighed. If Di Sanxi rushed directly to the Qing army camp and shouting directly, it would be more deterrent.

"The Qing army was extremely tired, and she underestimated the enemy." Deng Ming couldn't help but have an idea when he saw the war so smoothly: "The enemy is coming from afar, should we organize troops to rob the camp separately? It's impossible for them to rest all night, and then besiege the Qing army's camp tomorrow and gather them together."

...

Li Yanpeng carried the wooden spear and walked on the avenue with his companions. A messenger ran past the team and shouted loudly: "Snap forward and you have discovered the Tartar camp!"

After a month of military training, Li Yanpeng already knew how to make assassination actions, and could understand simple orders and respond quickly. Before sending troops, Li Yanpeng was both nervous and excited like others, and even more excited, feeling that it was finally time to put what he learned into practice. But after two days, gradually, the tension overwhelmed the excitement. During the march this morning, Xiong Guerrilla led a group of subordinates to boost morale in the marching team, shouting that he would kill the Ganzhou Green Camp without leaving any armor, twist Gao Mingzhan's head off to make a chamber pot.

"Those guys are elite Tartars who kill without blinking," Li Yanpeng couldn't help but think that Deng Ming was invincible, and Gao Mingzhan should not be his opponent, but Li Yanpeng was worried that he would encounter danger on the battlefield: "I have never fought a war or killed anyone. I have just learned how to assassinate these days. If I really meet the elite Tartars soldiers and generals, I will not be killed by the Tartars in one move, right?"

This worry lingers in my mind. The more Li Yanpeng walks forward, the more he feels his legs become heavier. The other Ming soldiers around him are like him, all of whom are serious and think about their own thoughts.

However, their commander was excited. After Zhao Tianba learned that the front army had contacted the Qing army, the excitement on his face could no longer be concealed and said to himself: "This time, Mr. asked me to command the central army, and even General Liu and Deputy General Yang agreed to see my banner. Well, the decisive battle will be held tomorrow. I must defeat Gao Zhe simply and neatly, so that everyone can see my strength... Well, I am also familiar with Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr

...

Deng Ming originally speculated that Di Sanxi and the guards would snatch the war horses outside the first Qing army camp and then send the letter of the appointment in, but he didn't expect that they had no intention of stopping and rushed in under Deng Ming's gaze.

"Oh." Deng Ming called out, immediately pulled out his horse's sword, turned around and shouted to the soldiers of the Western Camp behind him, "All follow me and go to support General Di."

The officers and soldiers of the Xiying behind him responded in unison. Seeing Di Sanxi and the cavalry killing happily, the infantry of the Xiying were all eager to try.

But when Deng Ming looked forward again, the first Qing army camp in front of him was in chaos, with hundreds of Qing soldiers throwing their armor and fleeing from the camp in all directions. Looking at him, Di Sanxi seemed to be leading people to continue rushing towards the second Qing army camp behind him. It seemed that if he didn't hold him back, Di Sanxi would rush to the deep Qing army tent.

"Everyone comes with me." Deng Ming waved his horse sword hard and rushed forward with the front army.

"kill!"

"kill!"
