Chapter 1, the shy viewer
"Laojun said: The great way is invisible, giving birth to heaven and earth; the great way is ruthless, running the sun and moon; the great way is nameless, nourishing all things; I don't know its name, and I strongly call it Tao. The Tao: there are clear and turbid, there are movements and stillness; the sky is clear and the earth is turbid, the sky is moving and the earth is still; the man is clear and the woman is turbid, the man is moving and the woman is still; the root is reduced and the end is flowing, and all things are born. The clear is the source of turbid, the movement is the foundation of tranquility; people can always be clear and quiet, and the heaven and the earth are all returned."
As the sun sets and the red clouds are setting, a high sound of reciting sounds are heard from the Qinglong Temple on the top of Fengming Mountain.
After a while, the chanting stopped. A young Taoist priest with white teeth and white faces walked out of the main hall of Qinglong Temple and rushed to the front of the merit box.
"1510, 1520...ah." After finishing the evening class, he poured out the merit box and ordered some incense money inside. The young Taoist priest's hope turned into disappointment.
He frowned, sighed, and shook his head, his face depressed.
The Taoist priest is named Yang Chenyu. Yang Chenyu is the current master of the Qinglong Temple, also known as the abbot, and the host. He is 24 years old and an orphan. He grew up in Qinglong Temple and is as close as a father and son to his previous master.
Fengming Mountain where Qinglong Temple is located is a small hill southwest of Yanhuang Kingdom. It belongs to Bashe Mountain and is its branch. Of course, Bashe Mountain is just a small mountain range. There are many mountains in this area, and Fengming Mountain is really inconspicuous.
Fengming Mountain is only 200 meters high, and there is a river at the foot of the mountain surrounds eastward. Because of the endless sound of the river, it is called Xiangshui River.
The Yanhuang people have always had the custom of living along the mountains and waters, and a quaint town is located near the foot of Fengming Mountain.
The town is named after the mountain. Fengming Town has a history of more than 2,000 years. Because Fengming Town is located among the mountains, it has escaped a lot of war. The ancient wooden structure of residential buildings shows that this is a rare paradise.
With the development of the economy, the bluestone streets in the town have become spacious concrete pavements, and ancient wooden houses have begun to be pushed down, turning into small western-style buildings with six or seven floors. The originally pure streets have also begun to be filled with the sound of urging off buildings and cutting prices.
Although Qinglong Temple, located on the top of Fengming Mountain, has experienced storms and storms, it has been more or less affected by this commercial atmosphere.
Qinglong Temple was built in the late Ming Dynasty of Yanhuang Kingdom. It was donated by Zhang Wansan, the richest man in Fengming Town, to worship the Xiangshui River God, and to bless one of them to be safe and prosperous. During this period, it cost 1,000 taels of silver, one hall and two courtyards, and the overall use of excellent pagoda wood was built. Qinglong Temple has a history of 400 years since then. Although it is not as famous as those famous temples, it is also one of the registered units of the National Taoist Association.
The god worshipped by Qinglong Temple is the river god of the Xiangshui River at the foot of the mountain. Because of this, Qinglong Temple was once glorious. The townspeople go to Qinglong Temple to hold a grand ceremony to worship the river god every year.
But as time goes by, the continuous development of modern society, Qinglong Temple has gradually declined.
After the death of the presiding master, Yang Chenyu became the presiding master of the Qinglong Temple. This is definitely not a temple for descendants. Unfortunately, Qinglong Temple has been a commander of the presiding master since the previous three generations of presiding masters, and there were neither single Taoist priests nor Taoist priests to settle in.
According to the rules of the Jungle Temple, the highest leader of the Taoist temple is the abbot. If it is the Quanzhen Sect, he must receive the three great precepts and receive the lawyer to preach the Dharma. He has strict precepts and high morals. He is selected for the support of all the Taoists in the Taoist temple.
The Zhengyi School needs to be granted a talisman, and the subsequent rules are the same as above.
As for Qinglong Temple, it belongs to the Zheng school. Yang Chenyu has given a talisman and has a statute. The premier of the temple has passed on some talisman painting methods to Yang Chenyu. However, I don’t know if it is the true teaching. In short, the talismans drawn by Yang Chenyu are all psychological comforting. Since Master Bowen in the late Ming Dynasty, the world has been cut off, and the talismans of the Taoist Sect in the world have never been able to reach the heaven. In this year of hundreds of years, atheism has become popular, and the important areas of the Taoist Sect in the Daoyu have become scenic spots and cannot be passed on.
There are no competitors and there are not many restrictions. After the death of the scepter Taoist Yuanzhen, Yang Chenyu became the scepter.
However, Yang Chenyu, the occupant, was quite devastated. More than four hundred years have passed, and Qinglong Temple seems extremely dilapidated under the erosion of the long river of time. Yang Chenyu wanted to renovate Qinglong Temple, but even the residents in the town often consider the first thing when they encounter major events, when they burn incense and worship gods, the first thing they consider is the famous temples outside the town, and even the Huafeng Temple, Qingyun Temple, etc. a hundred miles away.
Even some residents who are unwilling to run too far burn incense and worship gods will choose land temples outside the town. After all, it is still quite tiring to climb up a mountain with a height of more than 200 meters.
Therefore, in most cases, Qinglong Temple is considered to be lonely and deserted. Even if there are a few pilgrims, they are not the kind of wealthy people who are willing to spend money.
Yang Chenyu gets up at 5 a.m. every day, after washing up, he wears a robe and a crown, cleans the Taoist temple courtyard, eats breakfast, and enters the main hall to teach at 5:30 a.m., chants of incense and praise, verses of opening sutras, mantras of purifying the heart, mantras of purifying the mouth, mantras of purifying the body, "The Sutra of Purification and Quietness", and "The Sutra of Jade Emperor's Heart Seal".
After the morning class, Yang Chenyu would go to the vegetable fields behind Qinglong Temple to rest and renovate the soil. The next time on Fengming Mountain is too tiring. Not only is the mountain road dilapidated and rugged, but its length is also exciting. If it is not necessary, Yang Chenyu's vegetable fields cultivated after the observation are enough to cook for himself.
I had a meal at midday. After dinner, I chanted the "Jade Emperor's Heart Seal Sutra" for half an hour, and then practiced the talismans taught by Master Yuan Zhen. After a busy afternoon, I entered the main hall again for classes at 5:30.
The effort of this day has passed.
Of course, in the afternoon, some pilgrims who work hard will come to the door to burn incense and worship God. Often at this time, Yang Chenyu has to pick up the guests with a kind face. These pilgrims are their own parents for food and clothing.
Although the local religious management department allocates some donations every year, it is almost a drop in the bucket for Yang Chenyu.
Not to mention anything else, the basic need for eating and drinking alone will eliminate the allocated donations, not to mention the experience that Yang Chenyu has experienced after occasionally going down the mountain to do rituals and met the Internet cafe.
At that time, a family member was having a funeral and ritual. Yang Chenyu followed a few monks who didn’t know whether it was true or false and chanted scriptures and chanted Taoism for more than half a day, and got two hundred yuan in income. However, just when he was about to buy some incense, candles and flavour oil, a storefront called Tianlang Internet Cafe caught his attention.
After stepping into the Internet cafe without realizing it and being carefully guided by the Internet cafe owner to surf, in the next few days of his career in the Internet cafe, Yang Chenyu donated the 200 yuan that he had not yet had enough to do to the Internet cafe owner.
He suddenly realized that in his twenty-four years of life, his life was too boring. He had to eat or have morning and evening classes every day, or he would greet the pilgrims with a smile and recite the same lines: "Does the donor want to incense or fulfill his wish? Here is the box of merit, burn incense and worship the gods, and the donor can do whatever he wants."
