16. Fury's Call(2/2)
"A few of us are responsible for breaking into the embassy and attracting firepower. And you, you are responsible for rushing into the embassy basement and rescuing Pierce and the others. Is there any problem?"
“There is no problem.”
Merlin shrugged, he looked back at the five people in the room, he lowered his voice and said to Fury:
"But is the situation so tragic now? Are you commanders all needing to go to the battlefield to fight to the death? Where are the others under your command?"
"Korle is still the nominal director now, and even if he mobilizes agents from the European branch, he will be noticed."
Fury explained softly:
"Korle, that person, can't do anything, but it's very good to mess up something."
"If he realized that we were going to rescue Pierce, maybe Pierce would have fallen before we arrived. In fact, the news of Pierce's arrest has not yet officially reached Congress. It was Ms. Carter who used some connections to temporarily block the news."
"This is especially important in the end, not only will we rescue Pierce, but also to preserve his face and his post in the World Security Council."
After Fury said that, Agent Gatler, who was like an old cowboy, stood up and walked behind Merlin, and said to Merlin with a joking tone:
"And now, this important task is on your shoulders. Agent Merlin, if you accidentally fail, the future of us will be dark."
Merlin was not worried about this, he was puzzled by another question.
He said to Fury and Gatler:
"If it's just to save people, isn't it enough for me to go alone? It's easier and faster to move alone."
This question made Agent Gatler show a hint of cramped expression, and Fury's face was also a little strange. He coughed lightly and explained:
"You can't handle this alone, Merlin, believe me. You need support, just guide, and most importantly, you can't cover the evacuation of so many injured people alone."
"And these old foxes can't let you take away all the credit alone."
A light voice came over. The black widow Natasha leaned against the window, and she hugged her arms and explained to Merlin:
"Think about it, Little Meilin. Our commanders led us, braved the crisis of life and death, and broke into the hosts from thousands of miles away, and rescued our troubled boss from the edge of hell."
"This is life-saving grace!"
"As long as Pierce can gain a foothold in the World Security Council, our Chief Fury and Gartler's future career path will definitely be bright."
At this point, Meilin finally understood why this rescue mission that he could complete alone had to bring so many people to act together.
He shrugged and said nothing.
What stands here is indeed a group of old fried dough sticks!
