7. Hawkeye. Friendly match(1/2)

"We will be at the Eastern European port in two days."

Merlin walked into the room where he and Patton were on the cargo ship, carrying a lunch. Patton was still checking his weapons and equipment in the small cabin just like yesterday.

Merlin placed lunch on the table in front of Patton, who raised his head and nodded to Merlin, representing his silent thanks.

Instead of having a meal right away, he continued to do what he was doing.

Merlin sat on the side and looked at Patton with an apple.

The latter calibrated a black arrow with a knife. He used the knife to pluck the metal arrow of the arrow, and from time to time he raised the arrow and placed it on his finger, as if he was testing the balance of this thing.

"Do you use a bow or arrow?"

Merlin asked suddenly, and Patton ignored him and put the calibrated arrow back into the quiver. In the weird black quiver, there were almost 20 calibrated arrows.

"Don't they all use guns now? Guns are more convenient, faster and more powerful. Why do you still use bows and arrows? Do you have special abilities, or do you like this retro weapon?"

Patton still ignored him. This ignorant attitude made Merlin frown. He put half of the apple on the table and said to the agent in front of him:

"Fry asked us to cooperate, but your attitude is not as good as cooperation should be. I don't know if you are proud or what happened. We haven't even said enough 5 sentences in the past day! Do you have any objections to me? Clint!"

"No."

Patton picked up an arrow again and calibrated it with a knife while saying:

"I just simply don't like talking, and I don't have any objections to you."

He glanced at Meilin's expression, shook his head, put down the work in his hand, then straightened his body, looked at Meilin in front of him, and he said:

"Well, Merlin, what do you want to talk to me?"

"Well"

The atmosphere was a little awkward for a moment. After all, there was always a topic for chatting. Looking at Patton's cold face, Merlin didn't know what to say to him for a moment.

He and Agent Patton in front of him have two personalities. The commonalities between them are almost pitifully small.

"Tell me about this."

Merlin held the arrow in front of Patton in his hand, and he looked at Patton and said:

"Clint, why do you use bows and arrows as weapons? You see, it is inconvenient to carry and difficult to hide, and it is much slower to replenish ammunition than firearms. It is simply a whole body of shortcomings."

"No, no."

Agent Patton looked at Merlin and said:

"First of all, don't call me Clint, call me Patton."

"Okay, Clint."

Merlin nodded, but was glared at by Agent Patton. The latter took out a short black stick from the small box he carried with him and gently shook his wrist.

"Bang"

With a crisp sound, the curved black steel sheets quickly extended from both ends of the short stick. Amid the slight buzzing of the bowstring, a black battle bow appeared in Agent Patton's hands.

"The bow made of special materials can avoid X-ray detection in a hidden state. The weight is one-quarter of a sniper rifle. It is paired with a special arrow and has an effective range of about 600 meters. It can adapt to various combat environments, especially suitable for infiltration and special operations. The arrows shot silently and are extremely suitable for assassination operations. When necessary, it can also be used as melee weapons."

Agent Patton looked at Merlin and said:

"Seriously, Merlin, do you really think it would be more convenient to carry a heavy and easily exposed gun with you?"

"Uh, maybe not."

Merlin reached out to take the battle bow from Agent Patton's hand, and he raked the alloy bow made by modern craftsmanship. As Patton said, this thing would make a sniper rifle much lighter.

"But you have to admit, Clint, the bow may be good, but it is really not convenient to carry an arrow, right?"

"You mean, ammunition problem?"

Agent Patton shook his head with a smile. He patted the special quiver at hand. There was a weird metal turntable at the bottom, which also looked like a customized precision weapon.

"The logistics department designed this arrow bag for me, which contains 60 arrows for different occasions, and the arrow shafts can be reused. And even if I really use up the arrows, I don't have the power to fight back."

Patton picked up a cherry on the toothpick from the plate in front of him, and he put the fruit into his mouth, then shook the toothpick.

The next moment, Patton waved his finger and the apple on the table in front of Merlin was pierced by a toothpick.

"cool!"

Merlin picked up the trembling apple and placed it in front of her eyes and looked carefully.

The toothpick that Patton shot directly penetrated into the core of the apple from the middle. This exquisite technique means that the toothpick that Patton shot could easily penetrate his eyes or throat at the distance between him and Agent Patton.

This is hard to evaluate with skills, and it looks like some kind of outstanding talent.

Button, who showed his hand, was not too proud. He retrieved the bow, restored it to the posture of a short stick, then picked up the spoon and started to have lunch quietly.

"This made me more and more curious."

Merlin pulled out the toothpick, took a bite of the apple, and said to the agent in front of him:

"Clint, what did you do before being an agent? Was you a killer? Or was it like Natasha, a member of other organizations? When you were hunted down, you were recruited by Fury?"

"Or maybe like me, I was desperate and chose to become an agent?"

Agent Patton raised his head and glanced at Merlin, and he said:

“None are not.”

He put the last slice of bread into his mouth, and a moment later he said to Merlin:

"My past is not as exciting as you think, and I volunteered to join the Strategic Science Legion. Fury gave me a chance to do good things, that's all."

"What did you do before?"

Merlin looked at the bow and arrow beside Patton, and he said:

“Are you an archery coach?”

"I'm"

A look of memories appeared on Agent Patton's face. He looked at the sea outside the window and said:

“I worked in a circus before I met Fury.”

"circus?"

Merlin exclaimed.

Patton nodded, his face calm, as if he was telling someone else's story.

"Yes, in the circus, I was a juggler. I went through something and then met Fury, that's it."

"Okay, Fury asked me to teach you something."

Seeing that Merlin was still trying to ask, Agent Patton stood up and moved his shoulders, he looked at Merlin:

"It just so happened that I was very curious about why Fury valued you so much. He said you have some extraordinary abilities. I saw your extraordinary strength on the plane before, but I think you must be more than that skill, right?"

Patton took a tissue and wiped his mouth, and invited Merlin:

"Let's have a 'friendly match'."

"It's rare that this ocean-going cargo ship can still find an empty cargo hold."

Merlin opened a cabin door and reached out to pat the dust flying in front of him. He looked inside. There was almost nothing in the cargo compartment, like an open space, which was very suitable for after-dinner exercise.

"This ship from Yuri is specialized in smuggling. They will dock in Albania, get a batch of low-priced weapons from there, and then send them to certain parts of Africa to make some difference."

Agent Patton with red goggles walked into the cargo hold and said to Merlin:

"In the arms dealer industry, Yuri is not a big dealer, but he is also quite famous."

"You look familiar with this ship? Who is Yuri? He sounds like a Russian."

Merlin shook his hand and put a pair of black gloves on his hand. Hearing his question, Patton whispered:

"This is not the first time I've been on this ship. As for Yuri, he is a Ukrainian immigrant, an arms dealer, and Fury's partner. He often helps the Strategic Science Legion send agents to Eastern Europe."

“It seems that our 'partners' are quite diverse.”

Merlin spread her hands and moved her fingers, and nodded to Agent Patton:

“Are you ready?”

"Let's start!"

"Swoosh"

The moment Merlin said it, Patton raised his hand and a cold light flew towards Merlin, so fast that it was impossible to react at all.

"Bang"

The flying thing stopped in Merlin's ear, which was less than 3 cm away from his ear. It was a silver triangle flying knife with sharp edges. At this time, the flying knife was being held in Merlin's hand.

The moment he stepped into the cabin, Merlin's dark perception had spread. Hawkeye Patton threw the flying knife very quickly. When he changed someone, he must have been scratched his ears. However, for Merlin, whose perception and body had been strengthened, the speed and power attached to the flying knife could not harm him.

"Don't look at Fury belittle me so much"

Merlin pinched the flying knife, he narrowed his eyes and looked at Patton, who was waiting for him, and he said:

"I'm not as weak as he said!"
